The Originals of the Original of Don Quixote: Translation and Pseudotranslation in the Spanish Libros de Caballerías 堂吉诃德原作的原作:西班牙语Libros de的翻译与伪翻译Caballerías

Libros de Caballerías
: Pseudotranslations and references to fictitious originals are a staple of chivalric literature before Don Quixote. In particular, 75 % of the Spanish libros de caballerías refer to some form of, mostly invented, source text. Despite its ubi-quity, there are a range of different strategies in connection with what used to be considered a single motif. There are pseudotranslations from fanciful languages, and texts written by magic chroniclers, but also more or less realistic scenarios of translation from foreign tales or chronicles. Some examples are a consequence of the so-called editorial genre – paratextual conventions facilitated by printers and booksellers. Other cases consciously negotiate a textual status throughout the narrative that is less stable and less homogeneous than might be expected. This article briefly explores the different settings of the romances and points out several cases of ambiguous presentation, asking whether pseudotranslations should be treated differently from so-called authentic translations when considering early modern narrative.

: Kennzeichnend für Heimito von Doderers Roman Die erleuchteten Fenster (1951) sind nicht nur hochkomplexe Satzkonstruktionen, sondern auch die in den Text einmontierten Auszüge amtssprachlicher Dokumente. Der Übersetzer Relja Dra ž i ć legte 2015 mit Osvetljeni prozori eine serbische Übersetzung des Textes vor. The Quest for Bilingual Chinese Poetry: Poetic Tradition and Modernity 双语汉语诗歌的探索:诗歌的传统与现代

: Chinese poetic tradition presents such a self-centred system that it seems almost impossible to imagine a bilingual poet working with two languages, one of which is Chinese. It is highly significant to explore what changes in this situation (if any) one can observe in the realm of contemporary Chinese poetry with its openness to foreign influences and important shifts in the poet ’ s persona. The first part of this exploration is an analysis of poets ’ critical and theoretical writing that elaborates themes of poetic language and cultural identity. These are further examined with the help of a series of interviews with poets representing different faces of multiethnic Chinese society. The result shows discrepancies between the projected identity of a globalized “ Chinese poet ” and the vision of a bilingual poet as one rooted in the culture of minorities. The second part is dedicated to a case study of the Australian-Chinese poet Ouyang Yu, who represents a unique case of Chinese – English bilingualism. Ouyang Yu uses several strategies for constructing his multicultural identity, maintaining an illusion that it is the reader and not the author who is an alien in need of the poet to guide him through an unfamiliar linguistic landscape.

Intergenerational Translations in Uwe Timm’s Am Beispiel meines Bruders 世代之间的转变正如我兄弟所展现的

: Uwe Timm ’ s autobiographical novel Am Beispiel meines Bruders (2003) epitomizes the wave of family narratives published in Germany around the turn of the millennium. Indeed, many scholars have noted that the narrator exhibits a nuanced and empathetic approach to his family ’ s Nazi legacy. This article proble-matizes Timm ’ s nuanced tone. I argue that he adopts different narrative strategies to discuss his brother, who volunteered for the SS-Totenkopfdivision at eighteen years of age, and his mother, who remains unnamed throughout the novel. Drawing on Itamar Even-Zohar ’ s polysystem theory of translation, and more specifically on his concept of conservative and innovative repertoires, I argue that Timm translates stories about members of the war generation in a differentiated way, thereby producing distinct effects in each case. More specifically, I demonstrate that the narrator creates a rupture with his brother, subjecting his choice of words to scrutiny and following in the footsteps of the well-established Väterliteratur of the 1970s to the 1980s. Conversely, Timm strengthens his affiliation with his mother by avoiding an overly critical examination of her, focusing instead on her use of non-verbal and non-politically loaded language.

Lost and Found: Issues of Translating Japanophone Taiwanese Literature 失而复得:台湾日文文学的翻译问题

: A high percentage of colonial Taiwanese literary works during the late Taish ō period to the Sh ō wa period (1920 – 1946) was written in Japanese. To write in Japanese was not only a promising way to have works published in imperial Japan, but also provided a possible path for Taiwanese authors to reach a wider readership among Japanophone communities in East Asia. However, in the im-mediate post-war years, the body of Japanophone Taiwanese literature was “ torn off ” from Taiwanese literary history in the name of “ decolonization. ” All publications in Japanese were abolished in Taiwan from 1946, and it was not until the lift-ing of the thirty-eight-year period of martial law that Japanophone Taiwanese literature was finally reintroduced to post-war Taiwanese generations in Chinese translation. This article will tackle the issues of how Japanophone Taiwanese literature was “ translated back ” into Chinese in order to reflect “ authentic ” Taiwanese culture. The translations of the Taiwanese writer Nao Weng ’ s works will be used as examples, as his modernist literary representation is particularly worthy of scrutiny and highly challenging for translators to render “ faithfully. ”

: Das Trinken als Nahrungsaufnahme ist ein kulturell-psychisch-ge-sellschaftlich geprägter Akt und geht weit über seine Funktion für den Stoffwech-sel hinaus. Um das Trinken herum ist die Trinkkultur entstanden, die im Kollektivgedächtnis einer Menschengruppe gespeichert wird und in ihre Kultur integriert ist. Im vorliegenden Beitrag handelt es sich um eine vergleichende Un-tersuchung der chinesischen und der deutschen Trinkkultur anhand einiger Trinkgedichte Li Bais und Johann Wolfgang von Goethes. Es lässt sich feststellen, dass die chinesische und die deutsche Trinkkultur trotz der bestehenden Ähnlich-keiten deutliche Unterschiede aufweisen.
饮用作为食物是一种文化、心理和芹菜型的行为,这在衣着里就显得越发重要。围绕着喝酒产生了酗酒文化,这些文化被储存在一个个体的集体记忆中,融入了他们的文化。本文以李贝斯和歌德的约翰·沃夫冈作的几首葡萄酒诗,比较了中国和德国的喝酒文化。我们可以发现,尽管存在严重的混合技术,但中国和德国的喝酒文化却有着巨大的不同。
