The electromagnetic field amplification constant in the scattering of the nonrelativistic electrons by ions in the elliptically polarized light wave is theoretically studied for any intensities for which radiation amplification takes place. The anomalous amplification effect in the moderate-strong electro-magnetic field is predicted.

In this paper we investigate the field propagation characteristic in new type new optical waveguides, made of glasses and noble metals. The proposed waveguide, having nanosize cross-section, supports propagation of modes with unusual propagation properties. The propagation speed, attenuation and field localization of those modes will be present. The proportional reducing of the coaxial scale have been investigated. The results of this demagnification will be discussed. The comparatively low value of losses will be explained.

Approximate theory of interaction of optical waves with pure reflection gratings at fulfillment of the second and third orders Bragg conditions has been developed. Expressions of the reflectance were obtained. The start-oscillation conditions in gratings with amplification were searched. It is found that reflectance zeros are near generating modes of grating with amplification in gratings without amplification and with the refractive index modulation.

We have discovered that if input grating coupler is used to excite SEW the generated wave is differed essentially from SEW. This wave is conventionally named “pressed wave” by us. We examine the evolution of wave field with distance from input grating coupler and compare that with analogous dependence for SEW. It is shown that unlike SEW the intensity of pressed wave decreases not exponentially while it propagates along the surface. Also we have got that the pressed wave field profile is modified as it propagates along the surface.

The variational method is employed to study the evolution of two adjacent solitons propagating in a strongly dispersion-managed, periodically amplified, single channel optical fiber, in the strong management regime. We study third-order-dispersion (TOD) effects in terms of pulsewidth and center pulse position finding that TOD stabilizes the transmission characteristics and also provides an additional enhancement of the soliton collapse distance.

In this paper, the performance of Optical Code Division Multiple Access (OCDMA) system is analyzed at different receivers by using Optical Orthogonal Codes (OOCs). Performance analysis is considered for the chip-level detector and optimum receiver. Our results demonstrate that optimum receiver require less BER i.e. 5.70e−008 than chip-level detector i.e. 2.54e−007 for fixed number of users i.e. for 100 users with code-weight as 9 and code-length as 2000.

Influence of spin-polarization effects on the intensity of synchrotron emission from magnetized electron-positron plasma is discussed. In the plasma generated by pair production spin states have polarization-dependent spin bias, whereas in the case of thermodynamical preparation of spin states they are equally populated. It is shown, that radiation intensities from polarized and unpolarized particles are appreciably different.

We report on a bistable light transmission through a planar metamaterial consisted of a metal pattern of weakly asymmetric elements placed on a nonlinear substrate which enables sharp resonance response by excitation of a trapped mode. A feedback required for bistability is provided by the coupling between strong trapped mode resonance antiphased currents exited on the metal elements and an intensity of inner field in the nonlinear substrate.

Resonant two-photon annihilation of an electron-positron pair in the field of a moderately strong circularly polarized wave is investigated theoretically. The partial cross-section is derived. It is shown that the resonant differential cross-section can differ from that in the absence of the external field.
