Prevalence of internet addiction and its association to impulsivity, aggression, depression, and anxiety in young adult university students 青年大学生网络成瘾的流行及其与冲动、攻击、抑郁和焦虑的关系

Abstract The increasing availability of the Internet, although with many positive effects for most, has triggered addictive effects for part of the population. They experience social isolation due to Internet overuse and, when deprived of it, they feel anxiety, fissure, and psychomotor agitation. This study investigated associations among Internet addiction, demographic and cognitive variables, such as impulsivity, aggression, and depressive and/or anxiety symptoms. In this study, 1,485 young adults (67.9% women) were assessed using four psychological instruments. It was found that 19.1% of the participants presented a moderate or severe internet addiction, with men having a higher prevalence (45.0%). The risk population also included individuals who use the Internet for gaming and residents of the Northeastern region of Brazil. Moreover, a higher index of motor or attentional impulsivity, or more depressive symptoms, seems to increase the prevalence of Internet Addiction, requiring greater attention in preventive strategies.

Understanding the developing subject in the Cultural Psychology of education 教育文化心理学中发展主体的认识

Abstract Cultural psychology of education strives to understand the locality of the developing individual. This article tries to interpret the mission and vision of the cultural psychology of education in the background of modern society, with individualizing and techno-mechanistic social trends as its prominent feature. The concept of “contextualized individual” is proposed as a potential framework to conceptualize the relational and contextual dependence of the developing subject. The article also re-interprets Li and Xu’s 2018 paper “Developmental Psychology Research Based on Educational Practice in China” to explore how to use the framework of the “contextualized individual” to theoretically channel and generalize educational researches and interventional studies in a local educational setting.

People’s social value depends on their sexual orientation and gender identity 人们的社会价值取决于他们的性取向和性别认同

Abstract The present study aimed to investigate discrimination against transsexuals. A experimental study was carried out that consisted in the presentation of a fictitious news about photos of a person that were leaked according to the victim’s gender assigned at birth (male vs. female), their sexual orientation and gender identity (heterosexual vs. homosexual vs. transsexual), resulting in six experimental conditions. The measure of discrimination used was the allocation of the indemnification amount. The study included 300 cisgender heterosexual participants of both genders, randomly allocated in one of the six experimental conditions. The results enhanced the evidence that people tend to value their own group and discriminate against transsexual people. Variations were found regarding the target gender and the discriminator’s gender. The findings were discussed based on the Social Identity Theory and the threat to distinctiveness.

Assessment of juvenile delinquency: convergent and criterion validity of the Jesness Inventory - revised - Brazilian - short form 青少年犯罪评估:杰尼斯量表的收敛性和标准效度-修订-巴西-简表

Abstract: The aim of this study was to analyze evidence of convergent and concurrent criterion validity of the scales of the short form of the Jesness Inventory - Revised - Brazilian version. A sample of 597 male adolescents, aged between 12 and 20 years, participated in the study. The evidence of convergent validity obtained indicates that most scales would have maintained their interpretive meaning in the short form. They also indicated the need for further investigations on the Immaturity scale. The concurrent criterion validity suggests that high scores on the scales can differentiate adolescents based on both criteria, Judicialization and Frequency of self-reported delinquency in the last 12 months. Investment in standardized and brief instruments can drive the development of evidence-based practices in the juvenile justice system and, for this, a research agenda is presented.

Validity evidence for the School Subjective Well-Being Scale 学校主观幸福感量表的效度证据

Abstract This study gathered validity evidence based on relations to other variables for the School Subjective Well-being Scale. The sample consisted of 434 students of both genders, with age ranging from 12 to 19 years (M = 14.88; SD = 1.70); they were all students from the 7th grade Elementary School to the 2nd grade High School, attending a public school located in Ceará, Brazil. The School Subjective Well-being Scale, a sociodemographic and school questionnaire, was applied, as well as the Baptist Depression Scale for Children and Adolescents, the Global Life Satisfaction Scale for Adolescents, the Social Support Perception Scale for Adolescents. The scale factors showed significant positive and negative, moderate to high correlations and the measure’s scores of school well-being allowed differentiation among groups regarding gender and school issues.

Individual assistance plan: challenges to the construction of a life project while serving socio-educational measures 个人援助计划:在服务社会教育措施的同时,对生活项目建设的挑战

Abstract This article seeks to analyze the use of Plano Individual de Atendimento (Individual Assistance Plans) for the construction of the life projects of adolescents serving Medida Socioeducativa (Socio-Educational Measures) in an incarceration facility. Interviews were conducted with ten adolescents between the ages of 15 and 17, who were carrying out an Medida Socioeducativa of male incarceration, and document analysis was performed on their plans. The data were analyzed using thematic content analysis, from the categories “Elaboration of the Individual Assistance Plans”, “What the PIA addressed” and “Objective of the Individual Assistance Plans” in the light of Vygotsky’s cultural-historical psychology. The interviews and plans analyzed did not present sufficient information to identify the construction of the life project. The use of Individual Assistance Plans in socio-educational measures, allowing it to accomplish its planning and socio-educational function, remains challenging.

Abstract The Simon effect is typically larger for older people than for young adults, maybe due to age-related decline in inhibitory capabilities. 32 right-handed aged people (5 male, 27 female; mean of 67,1 years ± 5,5) participated in this study. In screening were used the Mini-Mental State Examination and the Center for Epidemiological Study Depression Scale. Then, half of the participants practiced the spatial incompatibility task before the Simon task and the other group was only tested on the Simon task. The analysis of variance considering practice (incompatible, no-practice group) and correspondence (corresponding, non-corresponding) revealed a two-way interaction (F = 7.07; p = 0.012; ?p2 = 0.191) showing that the Simon effect was eliminated in the incompatible practice group, but remained intact in the group with no previous practice. These results indicated that cognitive processes required to the transfer of learning are preserved in elderly, being potentially useful to influence spatial inhibitory capabilities.

Career Education Questionnaire: psychometric properties of the Portuguese version 职业教育问卷:葡萄牙语版的心理测量特性

Abstract This study aimed to evaluate the psychometric properties of the Career Education Questionnaire, through the analysis of reliability, dimensionality and possible correlations with the SENNA 1.0 socioemotional measure. The participants were 282 Portuguese high school students of both genders, with a mean age of 15.93 years, from public schools in northern Portugal. The analysis of the internal consistency of the dimensions showed satisfactory Cronbach’s alpha coefficients. The Portuguese version of this instrument presents metric qualities, making it a useful measure for research in this field.

Resumo Este artigo apresenta reflexões sobre práticas para a atuação do psicólogo escolar, bem como seus impactos no fortalecimento de coletivos no compromisso com a transformação de contextos educacionais durante o período da pandemia do novo coronavírus (COVID-19). Assume-se como perspectiva teórico-metodológica as proposições desenvolvidas por Lev Vygotsky e outros estudiosos da Psicologia Histórico-Cultural. Como enfoque das discussões lançadas, destacam-se o relato e a análise de duas práticas desenvolvidas por psicólogos-pesquisadores, inseridos nos campos da Educação Básica e da Educação Superior, durante o período de isolamento social ocasionado pela pandemia. Em ambos os contextos, e como eixo norteador das discussões, a arte é tomada como instrumento mediador, ou seja, como uma forma de linguagem potente que possibilita a ressignificação de si e do mundo. Ressalta-se a importância de o psicólogo escolar reconhecer-se como profissional cujo papel fundamental é o investimento na construção, na manutenção e na transformação dos vínculos estabelecidos entre os diferentes atores inseridos nesses contextos educacionais.
本文提出了在新型冠状病毒(COVID-19)大流行期间,学校心理学家的实践及其对加强致力于教育环境转型的集体承诺的影响的思考。本文以维果斯基等历史文化心理学学者提出的命题为理论方法论视角。作为讨论的重点,报告和分析了心理学家和研究人员在大流行造成的社会孤立时期在基础教育和高等教育领域发展的两种做法。在这两种情况下,作为讨论的指导,艺术被视为一种中介工具,也就是说,作为一种强有力的语言形式,允许重新定义自己和世界。强调学校心理学家认识到自己是一名专业人员的重要性,其基本作用是投资于建立、维持和转变这些教育环境中不同行动者之间建立的联系。

The Fear of COVID-19 Scale adaptation and validation 对COVID-19的恐惧规模适应和验证

Abstract This study aimed to adapt and raise evidences of validity based on the internal structure, on the relationship with other variables, and on the content of the Fear of COVID-19 Scale (FCV-19S) in Brazilian Portuguese. We performed the Confirmatory Factor Analysis of the scale, its invariance analysis by gender, and established norms for interpreting the instrument’s scores. Participants were 1,000 adults of both genders. The findings showed all fit indices as satisfactory, confirming the scale’s one-dimensionality and its invariance. Results also demonstrated convergent validity between the FCV-19S and the stress of the subjects. Moreover, the stratification of the intensity of fear (mild, moderate and severe) was determined based on the standardization of scores. We concluded that FCV-19S presents sufficient evidence to support its use to assess the fear of Covid-19S in Brazil.
