The current backwardness of many Muslim communities across the world in different fields (e.g. academic, economics etc.) raises the question whether Islam presents comprehensive principles compliance to which assures not only spiritual but also material success. The aim of this paper is to review Islamic literature on the principles associated with success as well as explore the evidence of achievements and successes of the Noble Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and early Muslims from historical and biographical records. Findings of the review revealed that Islam has prescribed systemic and pragmatic principles that assure sustainable worldly success. This fact is testified by the well documented spectacular achievements of the Noble Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and early Muslim generations. Observance of the prescribed Islamic principles is crucial to overcoming the currently prevalent economic, political and academic backwardness of The Contemporary Muslim Society.

Kajian ini merupakan kajian teks yang memfokuskan kepada penggunaan gaya bahasa ‘aṭf dengan Waw dalam surah al-Rūm. Dalam melakukan analisis ini, lima ayat daripada surah al-Rūm diambil sebagai bahan kajian. Fokus kajian adalah untuk meneliti perkaitan antara elemen ‘aṭf iaitu ma‘ṭūf ‘alayh dan ma‘ṭūf yang terdapat dalam ayat kajian. Dalam melakukan kajian ini, teori Ibn Qayyim (t.t) yang menekankan keperluan mendahului elemen yang perlu didahulukan dan mengkemudiankan elemen yang perlu dikemudiankan diaplikasi. Kajian mendapati perkaitan antara elemen ‘aṭf mengisyaratkan kepada suatu makna tertentu yang menggambarkan keindahan linguistik al-Quran. Keimanan dan melakukan amalan kebaikan yang digandingkan bersama mengisyaratkan kepada kedudukan iman sebagai asas penerimaan sesuatu amalan kebaikan. Perkaitan antara kasih sayang dan kasihan belas mengisyaratkan kepada peringkat yang ditempuhi dalam kehidupan berumah tangga. Manakala perkaitan antara pergerakan awan nipis lalu membentuk awan tebal bergumpal mengisyaratkan kepada i‘jāz saintifik dalam al-Quran yang menyatakan fungsi angin dalam proses pembentukan awan. يتناول هذا المقال جودة الحكومة الإلكترونية وأبعادها، وأثرها في بيئة العمل، ودور مكتب وزير الدولة بمحافظة ظفار في سلطنة عمان في تطبيقيه تتلخص مشكلة الدراسة في عدم تطبيق الحكومة الإلكترونية وأثرها على بيئة العمل في مكتب وزير الدولة بمحافظة ظفار بسلطنة عمان ، لأسباب منها وجود العديد من المعوقات والتحديات; التي تحول دون تفعيل تطبيق الحكومة الإلكترونية , بأن الحكومة الإلكترونية غير فعالة في بعض الولايات والأقسام التابعة لمكتب وزير الدولة بمحافظة ظفار في سلطنة عمان ، وجود قصور في مكتب وزير الدولة بمحافظة ظفار بسلطنة عمان في تطبيق خدمة أهداف الحكومة الإلكترونية ، لذلك يهدف الباحث إلى مناقشة الحكومة الإلكترونية وأبعادها، ودور مكتب وزير الدولة بمحافظة ظفار في سلطنة عمان. أعتماد الباحث المنهج الوصفي التحليلي، وناقش الموضوع في مبحثين. دللت النتائج على إن استخدام الحكومة الالكترونية وتطبيقها تؤدي إلى خدمات أسرع وبجودة عالية وذلك من خلال تصميم هياكل جديدة تتسم بالمرونة لتتمكن من تعزيز قدرتها على التكيف مع الظروف الطارئة في بيئة عمل , وبما يتوافق مع توقعات الموظفين وحاجات متلقي الخدمة. Abstract This article discusses the quality and dimensions of e-government, its impact on the working environment and the role of the Office of the Minister of State in Dhofar Governorate in the Sultanate of Oman in its applications. The problem of the study is that e-government does not apply to the working environment in the office of the Minister of State in the Governorate of Dhofar in the Sultanate of Oman, due to the existence of many obstacles and challenges in activating e-government application. Dhofar in the Sultanate of Oman, the existence of deficiencies in the Office of the Minister of State in Dhofar Sultanate of Oman in the application of the service objectives of e-government. The researcher adopted the analytical descriptive method, and discussed the subject in two sections. The results show that the use and application of e-government leads to faster and higher quality services by designing new flexible structures to enhance their ability to adapt to emergencies in a work environment and in line with the expectations of employees and the needs of service recipients.

In adult refugees’ context, functional literacy is the biggest barrier for the refugees to socially navigate in the host community. Functional literacy is ‘the level of skill in listening, speaking, reading and writing that any individual needs in order to cope with adult life.’ Without functional literacy abilities in the language/s of the host country and uncertainties in the journey to resettlement, the refugees tend to become very vulnerable and traumatized. Thus, social navigation for survival becomes an issue not only because they have language barriers but also internal conflicts on the terrains of the imagined (the hopes) and the unexpected (the difficulties) they encounter in the host country. Employing both qualitative and quantitative data collection tools, this study explored the current English language literacy ability of the Rohingya youth refugees and related challenges. Findings revealed that despite the keen interests the participants have in acquiring English language proficiency, the different alphabetical systems pose problems for them. Despite the challenges in language, the participants exhibited strong sense of brotherhood with other fellow refugees and willingness to extend assistance. Religion developed the powerful bond. Based on the empirical data gathered, a Functional Literacy Course was developed to address language issues embedded with Leadership as well as Islamic Psycho-spiritual elements.

Drug addiction is a phenomenon that constantly threatens the nation. The threat to youth is particularly worrying as these youths are expected to pursue future development of our country. At the same time, for young Muslims, they are increasingly abandoning the practice of Islam that can clearly guide one's actions in everyday life. This study aims to look at the relationship between religiosity and risky behaviour of taking drugs among youth. The findings of this correlational study are presented in descriptive and inferential. 127 students were selected in this study. The Religiosity and Personality Index (MRPI) and the Drug Abuse Screening Test (DAST-20) had been used as the instruments of the study. Cronbach’s Alpha for the whole of the MRPI Islamic Worldview Scale, MRPI Religious Personality Scale and DAST-20 are 0.697 (19 items), 0.931 (27 items) and 0.690 (20 items) respectively. The data obtained were analysed using the Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS20). The findings show that the Islamic Worldview of MRPI is at a moderate level (51.2%), Religious Personality of MRPI is at a high level (63.8%), while DAST-20 is at the level of case exploration (51.2%). Finally, implications of the study and suggestions for further research and contributions were also discussed.

Drug prevention and education program had been implemented in schools through special Substance Abuse Prevention Program (PPDa). The purpose of this study was to identify self-efficacy, job satisfaction and their relationships among PPDa teachers. This study also measured the differences in self-efficacy and job satisfaction based on gender and experiences in handling PPDa program. The researcher used snowball sampling technique to recruit 150 PPDa teachers in Malaysia. The translation version of 'General Self-efficacy Scale' and Job Descriptive Index (JDI) were used to achieve the research objectives. The findings showed that PPDa teachers are at the moderate level of self-efficacy and low level of job satisfaction. There was no significant difference in self-efficacy based on gender and experience in handling PPDa program. There was also no significant difference in job satisfaction based on experience in handling PPDa program. However, there was a significant difference in job satisfaction based on gender. The findings also revealed that there was a significant positive relationship between self-efficacy and the level of job satisfaction (rs=.277, p=0.01). The findings revealed that further enhancement could improve teachers’ self-efficacy and job satisfaction to combat substance abuse in school level.

This study also measured the differences in self-efficacy and job satisfaction based on gender and experiences in handling PPDa program. The researcher used snowball sampling technique to recruit 150 PPDa teachers in Malaysia. The translation version of 'General Self-efficacy Scale' and Job Descriptive Index (JDI) were used to achieve the research objectives. The findings showed that PPDa teachers are at the moderate level of self-efficacy and low level of job satisfaction. There was no significant difference in self-efficacy based on gender and experience in handling PPDa program. There was also no significant difference in job satisfaction based on experience in handling PPDa program. However, there was a significant difference in job satisfaction based on gender. The findings also revealed that there was a significant positive relationship between self-efficacy and the level of job satisfaction (rs=.277, p=0.01). Drug abuse is one of the most serious social issues in Malaysia. Therefore, this quantitative study was conducted to identify the relationship between parenting styles and the risk of drug abuse among youths. A set of questionnaires were distributed to respondents at IKTBN Chembong. A total of 123 students of IKTBN Chembong were involved in this study. Two instruments were used in this study, Baumrind's Parenting Styles Questionnaire (1967) and the Drug Abuse Screening Test (DAST-20). The results showed that authoritative parenting style was the highest style used by parents (37.86%) followed by authoritarian parenting style (35.32%) while permissive parenting style was (30.01%). Testing for hypotheses was carried out using the Pearson Correlation test. The findings show that there is a significant correlation between permissive parenting style and drug abuse risk (r = .61). Authoritarian parenting lifestyle with drug abuse risks showed a weak and positive relationship (r =.119) while for authoritative parenting style with drug abuse risks showed a weak and negative relationship (r = .005). The implication of this study is the importance of parenting styles in dealing with the risks of drug abuse against youth in the future.

SeIPTI is a conference that groups scholars to discuss issues pertaining to Islamic higher education. The fifth conference this year brings about the theme of “Barakah Campus”. Under this theme, various issues have been discussed including the concept of barakah in universities and wider topics that are not confined to merely discussions on Islamic higher education but also broader debates on developments related to Islam in various fields in different kinds of organisations. Hence, this special edition highlights the theme, “Developments in Potential Fields in Achieving Barakah”.

iPad is a device designed through the combination of computers and tablets. The use of the iPad is widespread and it can cover all aspects of use regardless of whether it is in the office or schools or for casual activities such as playing video games and surfing the internet. This device is also a medium to gain knowledge in schools; as early as 2010, the iPad was used as a learning and teaching tool in select schools in Malaysia. This study was conducted to examine the effectiveness of iPad use among high school students through the qualitative method of semi-structural interviews. Since, this is the preliminary study, the researchers interviewed two teachers from Sekolah Menengah Imtiaz Ulul Albab, Melaka and Kolej Genius Insan, Nilai who were using iPads as part of their learning and teaching. Among questions that were asked to the respondents include their perception on the advantages and disadvantages of iPad for students, their routine in the usage of iPad during school period, and challenges of knowledge seeking using advance communication technology devices. This article is a brief information based on the preliminary findings of the research that is still ongoing. The interviewed resulted that the use of iPad in both schools made the learning become more effective and ease the interaction between teachers and students in disseminating knowledge, notes and task to the students. Kegunaannya semakin meluas dan meliputi pelbagai urusan sama ada di pejabat dan sekolah ataupun untuk beraktiviti santai seperti bermain permainan video atau melayari internet. Peranti ini turut dijadikan medium untuk menimba ilmu di sekolah seawal tahun 2010 sebagai satu alat bantuan pembelajaran dan pengajaran di sekolah-sekolah terpilih di Malaysia. Kajian ini dijalankan untuk melihat keberkesanan penggunaan iPad dalam kalangan pelajar sekolah menengah dengan menggunakan kaedah kualitatif iaitu temubual separa struktur. Oleh kerana ini adalah kajian awal, para penyelidik hanya menemubual dua orang guru dari setiap sekolah iaitu Sekolah Menengah Imtiaz Ulul Albab, Melaka dan Kolej Genius Insan, Nilai yang menggunakan iPad dalam pembelajaran dan pengajaran mereka. Antara persoalan yang akan dijawab dalam kajian ini termasuklah kebaikan dan keburukan penggunaan iPad dalam kalangan pelajar, rutin penggunaan iPad dalam pembelajaran dan pengajaran sepanjang waktu sekolah, dan cabaran menimba ilmu barakah dengan peranti teknologi komunikasi yang terkini.
