The article considers general approaches to the perception of Russian artwork by foreigners in medieval Russia from the end of the 15th to the 17th century. The establishment of a unified Russian state made ways for establishing various contacts with European countries. Representatives of different countries who came from Europe to Russia on various missions formed their own idea of the unfamiliar state, including its artistic culture. Artwork rarely came to the attention of travelers, who, due to the difference of religion, were usually not allowed into Orthodox churches. As a result, stable stereotypes were formed about the low artistic quality of icons and about the attitude of Russians to them as objects of pagan worship. Only a few of travelers, who got direct access to the best works and relevant explanations, could appreciate the artistic merits of icons as works of art. Along with icons, according to the testimony of foreign authors, since the end of the 15th century, portrait images also began to come into use. Despite the different foundations and traditions of ancient Russian and European art, the close interaction of the countries inevitably led to a common understanding of the tasks and forms of artistic work

This article presents an analysis of P.F. Strawson’s approach to the phenomenon of moral responsibility. First, the crux of Strawson’s approach is introduced. It is then followed by a critique of it. The crux of Strawson’s approach according to my interpretation is (1) to ground being responsible in holding responsible and (2) to ground holding responsible in emotional reactions. I show that although the thesis (1) contradicts the ordinary point of view, it can be defended. I criticize the second thesis and show that there is both holding responsible without emotion and the experience of emotion without holding responsible. Holding responsible without emotion can be accomplished by a non-emotional rational agent as well as by a rational agent who is not well versed in his/her feelings. It is possible to experience emotion without holding anyone responsible if one does not use one’s emotion as a way of blaming or praising. If we can separate emotional responses from holding responsible, then there is no grounding relation between the two. Consequently, we are in a position to reconsider Strawson’s view of moral responsibility.

In order to study the feminization process of the Russian city, the article compares statistical data on a number of indicators for 2015 and 2019–2020. In the course of the analysis an asymmetry in the urban population is revealed: (there are more women than men). It is shown how the ratio of women to men in employment has changed during the study period. As well the article defines those areas in which women lead. The authors outline a range of works studying the feminization phenomenon in social processes, including the feminization of the city. The results of the work made it possible to conclude that the feminization of the Russian city is one of the processes in the space of a today Russian city that have a positive dynamics

The article presents the results of socio-economic studies for the first half of the 20th century, revealing the actual state of industrial production, revealing socially significant challenges in the economic sphere. It shows various directions in the search for their scenario solutions, based on the use of various classifications of forecasts for the socio-economic development of the Soviet country, carried out by S.G. Strumilin. The predictions are compared with the realities in various fields in order to try to take a fresh look at the viability and relevance of the proposed long-term trends in the historical and current context taking into account modern requirements.

Hans Holbein Jr was a key figure in the history of English paint- ing. Many questions related to his biography and creative method still remain open. One of them is whether the artist had assistants in the work on orders for easel painting during his stay in England. In recent years, many studies of that period painting technology have been carried out in general and Holbein’s works in particular, that allow to approach the issue solution. The article con- tains and compares the results of the most significant works related to that. Their analysis shows that the probability of the existence of a workshop or as- sistants for Holbein in his English periods is very high. That is supported by a number of circumstantial evidence. Firstly, the method of work of the master and the specifics of the demand for easel painting in England of that period made it profitable to hire assistants. Secondly, the facts of the biography of Hans Holbein the Younger indicate that working in workshops based on the di- vision of labor or with a group of artists was a natural practice for him. Thirdly, there are many works created during Holbein’s lifetime, from his drawings, in his style, but not by his hand, which suggests the possibility of their painting under the direction of Holbein by his assistants or students. The final solution of the question of the existence of Holbein’s workshop is necessary to clarify the attribution of his works and to understand the genesis of the English paint- ing tradition.
