Electrochemotherapy (ECT) is a new and efficient approach for the treatment of tumors. It uses an electromagnetic impulse plus anticancer drugs to treat a tumor. The technique is very easy to control and operate and is of little harm to normal tissue. Especially, it is very efficient in curing flat tumors. We have used ECT to treat S-180 sarcomas in KunMing mice. In the experiment, we explored the optimal parameters of the electromagnetic impulse used in the treatment and acquired elementary results.

In many engineering situations, nonuniformly spaced arrays are necessary or useful due to feed network structures, actual system constraints and so on. Other than many conventional synthesis methods, the genetic algorithm (GA) can be used to synthesize such arrays to reach the requirement of the sidelobe level. The optimized variables in the nonuniformly spaced array are usually chosen as the element positions. In the application of digital beamforming antenna systems, the optimized variables may be chosen as element positions, amplitudes, phases or some combination of them, which provide more degrees of freedom to the synthesis of arrays than before. Simulation results show that this method is valuable.

Mutual coupling of the antenna element always degenerates the performance of array antennas. The analysis of this effect using a conventional method of moments leads to a huge number of basis functions and unknowns, respectively. The mutual impedance formula between patch antennas based on synthetic asymptote and variable separation is applied to take into account the parasitic element effects through an element by element method of mutual impedance correction. This method can successfully predict the performance of the finite array as well as greatly reduce the computer time and memory usage especially in the optimization of the finite array.

Some structures in a power system can be modeled as multi-conductor transmission lines or transmission line in order to analyze the transient process when the switches are operated or electromagnetic pulse is imposed. In this paper the modeling of a transmission line and its finite difference time domain (FDTD) method are researched, and then extended to the transmission line network and nonuniform line. After the method is tested, some examples are finally analyzed in order to predict the transient voltage in power substations.

The spatial and short time variations in the indoor radio channel are studied and determined by performing wideband propagation measurements in line of sight (LOS) and obstructed line of sight (OLOS) environments at UHF frequency of 800 MHz. It is shown that the spatial fluctuations in multipath power are more in (OLOS) than (LOS) channel. Moreover, it is shown that the short fluctuations in multipath power are higher for (LOS) than for (OLOS) channel. The results presented may be used in the design of broadband wireless LAN and serve as a basis for the development of theoretical model capable of predicting channel temporal variation characteristics under a variety conditions.

Methods for the modeling and calculation of radiant interference in GIS are discussed. A radiant thin wire model of a domestic GIS is set up and the 3D-electromagnetic fields in this substation are computed by means of the numerical electromagnetic code (NEC). A method to minimize the calculation error using the NEC thin wire model is proposed.

The electric field intensity is varied at 10, 20, 25 kV/m. This paper is focused on the height of stems and the length of roots. The effect of electric field intensity is evaluated on bean sprout growing. The electric field intensity is analyzed by the finite element method. Experimental results indicate that the bean sprout in high electric field intensity has a better growth in comparison with that of low electric field based on statistical analysis.

By global analysis of the generator, the loop antenna and the shielding enclosure with the FDTD method, the small-loop approach for measurement of the magnetic field shielding effectiveness was simulated numerically in this paper. Nonuniform meshes and reduced c FDTD method were adopted to solve the contradiction of selecting space step and time step: this makes it possible to calculate the steel shielding efficiency of large dimension. The interaction of shielding enclosure and loop antenna was modeled. The setup of the simulation coincides with the real conditions of engineering testing. The conclusions from the numerical calculation are: the waveform of EMP transparent though the steel shielding enclosure is greatly different from the incident EMP waveform. The rise time changes to be very slow and the width of pulse gets long. The calculating and real testing indicate that the shielding efficiency of the steel enclosure to the EMP with longer rise time (/spl mu/s) and wider duration (1ms) is only about 40 dB, the rise time of transparent pulsed magnetic field reaches ms and the pulse width is more than 10ms. The shielding efficiency of the steel enclosure to low frequency electromagnetic field is much lower.

A novel feeding scheme of local oscillator feeding based on the near-field coupling was proposed in Luan et al. (2003). The coupling effectiveness between two single feeding elements as well as the microstrip arrays was investigated, showing that a good transportation of the power may be realized through appropriate design. This paper presents the experimental results for both transmitting efficiency and assembling tolerance. Very close agreement has been obtained between simulated and measured performance of the proposed feeding scheme.
