A real-valued genetic algorithm is proposed as a means of extracting one-dimensional scattering centers. In terms of the extraction of scattering signatures from noise-corrupted data, the genetic algorithm has been compared to the state space approach, and the results show that this method has higher-noise immunity.

A compact loaded microstrip antenna operating at 2.4 GHz is presented in the paper. It is similar in configuration to a conventional patch antenna fed by a microstrip-line, but its dimension is much smaller than that of the latter due to the existence of a load. The antenna has been investigated numerically and experimentally. Simulated and measured, results show that the antenna has a bandwidth of over 10% centered at 2.4 GHz.

In this paper, a simple method to analyze the wire antenna on conductor is proposed. The analysis is based on the moment method (Rao et al. (1982)). The analysis has been performed hitherto by developing a junction model of the point where the antenna is attached to the conductor. The junction model method can model the problem very well. However it brings complexity in the computing. Here, we present a simple method, which can give a good analysis result.

It is well known that electromagnetic (EM) energy is absorbed inhomogeneously in the human body even for plane-wave exposure. This implies that local resonance for various individual organs may occur. In order to investigate this implication, we analyzed numerically the organ resonance characteristics in the frequency range from 30 MHz up to 3 GHz with an anatomically based high-precision human body model and a parallel finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) technique. As a result, we found that the whole-body resonance occurring around 65 MHz causes the local resonance for all the organs at the same frequency. Local resonance peculiar to each of organs was also found to occur around 900 GHz for the brain, eyes and heart, 600 MHz for the testicles, and so on.

In this paper, we endeavor to investigate the characteristics of computer electromagnetic leakage based on GTEM measurement. We take several steps to measure the spectrum of computer emission, and the characteristics of computer emission are obtained by analysis both in frequency domain and time domain.

In order to search for the optimal electric hermetical measurements for the door aperture, some techniques are presented using various shielding gasket materials. Corresponding experiments are implemented at the same time. Lots of results are obtained from those experiments, which provide an important reference for the relevant related designs.

By test and statistical analysis, this paper derives a conversion coefficient between our method of measurement of electrified railway radio disturbance (ERRD) and the method stipulated by the EN50-121 standard. Then the evaluation of the level of ERRD in the state was carried out with the limit stipulated by the EN standard. This provides the foundation for us to apply the EN standard in China in the future.

The paper analyses the effect of a high viaduct and a train on TV signals from two side: shelter effect and reflection effect, based on the theory of electric wave propagation and gives the measured data as confirmation. By comparison and analysis, we can know how and to what extent the TV signal will be affected by all kinds of parameters.

In high voltage substations, secondary equipment placed in the switchyard and inside the control house can be highly sensitive to transient electromagnetic disturbances due to switching operations. In order to evaluate transient electromagnetic environments (EME) and provide guidance for better immunity design of secondary equipment, it is necessary to measure and analyze these transient electromagnetic disturbances. While three new 500 kV substations were powered on, many transient electromagnetic disturbances were measured and recorded. Based on the FFT, an analysis program was developed and used to analyze characteristics of the disturbances. The results are summarized. Comparisons with IEC61000-4 series standards are made and recommendations are given.
