The aim of this research is to study the physical-mechanical behaviour and durability of mortars containing melted plastic bags. To this end, 4cmx4cmx16cm test specimens of mortar containing cement or not and melted plastic bags at a mass ratio ranging from 10 to 25% of the mixture were produced. Compressive strength, flexural strength and acid durability were measured. The results show that the quantity of plastics in the mortars is inversely proportional to water absorption. Similarly, cementless mortars containing 25% plastic bags (MWC25) and cement mortars containing 25% plastic bags (CM25) gave maximum compressive strengths of 9.45MPa and 10.45MPa respectively. The durability test in a 5% sulphuric acid solution showed that CM25 and MWC20 lost 50% of their mass after 28 days.

This study examines the effectiveness of content-based language teaching (CBLT) in teaching English as a foreign language (TEFL) contexts, focusing on its impact on language proficiency and subject matter learning. CBLT integrates language instruction with academic content, aiming to enhance both linguistic skills and cognitive abilities simultaneously. The research employed a mixed-methods approach across multiple TEFL settings, including primary and secondary schools, to evaluate CBLTs efficacy. Quantitative data from pre-tests and post-tests, supplemented by surveys, measured improvements in language proficiency and academic achievement among students exposed to CBLT compared to traditional methods. Qualitative methods, such as classroom observations, teacher interviews, and student focus groups, provided deeper insights into instructional processes and learner experiences. Findings indicate significant enhancements in students language proficiency across speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills in CBLT classrooms. Academic achievement in subjects like science, mathematics, and social studies also showed improvements, demonstrating the effectiveness of integrating language and content learning. Moreover, CBLT fostered higher levels of learner engagement and motivation by linking language skills with practical applications in academic contexts. Teacher perspectives highlighted the benefits of CBLT in promoting interdisciplinary learning and addressing diverse student needs, albeit with challenges related to curriculum integration and varying language proficiency levels. The study underscores the potential of CBLT to promote inclusive education by providing equitable access to language and content learning for all students. These findings contribute valuable insights to educational practices, emphasizing the importance of integrating language instruction with subject matter learning to enhance educational outcomes in TEFL contexts globally.

Introduction:Endometrial cancer is the third gyneco-mammary cancer in the radiotherapy-brachytherapy department of the RABAT national oncology institute.Brachytherapy has an important place in the therapeutic strategy. The objective of the study:Is to analyze the coverage of target volumes as well as the dose to organs at risk with three-dimensional dosimetric planning and toxicity assessment. Material and methods:This is a retrospective study of 60 cases of operated endometrial cancers treated by high dose rate brachytherapy without external radiotherapy or chemotherapy collected in the radiotherapy department of the National Institute of Oncology RABAT between January 2018 and December 2020. A dosimetric scan without injection was performed at the first session and was used to delineate the clinical anatomic target volume (CTV). We evaluated the D100 of the clinical target volume and the D2 cm3 of the bladder, rectum and small intestine. We also analyzed acute genitourinary and gastrointestinal toxicity. Results:The average age of the patients was 49 years. Endometrioid carcinoma accounted for 98.5%, with one case of mucinous carcinoma. All patients underwent surgery. The brachytherapy protocol used was 3 × 7 Gy (75%) or 4 × 5.5 Gy (17%) in weekly sessions A single patient received a reduced total dose of 19.8 Gy in 3 fractions of 5.5 Gy due to a high rectal dose. The average target volume coverage (D100) was 96.50%.The average D2 cm3 per session received by the bladder, rectum and small intestine were 4.06 Gy, 4.9 Gy and 2.8 Gy, respectively.Regarding genitourinary toxicity, we noted two grade 1 cystitis, one grade 2, two grade 1 mucositis and one grade 2.For gastrointestinal toxicity, no cases of grade greater than 1 were noted. No grade 3 or 4 toxicities were recorded. Conclusion:High dose rate brachytherapy has an important place in the therapeutic strategy for endometrial cancer. The very low toxicity recalls the good tolerance of this treatment whichapplies to the entire population.

Introduction:Blunt trauma to the abdomen occurs due to forces that induce shearing, compression, or deceleration injuries, particularly affecting anatomical structures that are relatively immobile. The evaluation of abdominal injuries is challenging and often results in missed diagnoses due to the complexity of symptoms and the difficulty in identifying subtle signs of internal injury. Aims & Objectives:To study the clinical presentation, evaluation, diagnostic investigations, and management strategies for various intra-abdominal organ injuries resulting from blunt trauma to the abdomen. Methods: - Following initial resuscitation and attainment of hemodynamic stability, all blunt abdominal trauma patients underwent meticulous clinical history-taking and comprehensive physical examination. Subsequent management decisions, whether operative or non-operative, were determined based on the integrated findings of clinical assessments and radiological evaluations. Results:Between August 2022 and August 2023, fifty (50) patients with blunt trauma to the abdomen were admitted to Basaveshwara Teaching and General Hospital, Kalaburagi. In this study, males predominated in the 21 to 30-year age group, which represented the most frequent demographic for abdominal blunt trauma. Traffic collisions were identified as the leading cause of abdominal blunt trauma. The spleen emerged as the organ most frequently affected. Of the patients, 28 underwent conservative management, while 22 required surgical intervention. Conclusion:In cases of blunt trauma to the abdomen, the early hours following injury are critically significant and represent a crucial window, often referred to as the golden period of trauma, associated with higher survival rates. Timely intervention andappropriate management during this phase have been shown to significantly decrease morbidity and mortality rates associated with blunt trauma abdomenandappropriate management during this phase have been shown to significantly decrease morbidity and mortality rates associated with blunt trauma abdomen.

This research is an effort to ascertain the influence of parental involvement on the academic performance of Indigenous secondary stage students in Ri-Bhoi district of Meghalaya. A descriptive survey method was employed, involving 340 secondary stage students. Data was collected using the Parental Involvement Scale developed by Vijaya Laxmi Chaunhan and Gunjan Ganotra Arora (2022). The findings revealed an average level of academic performance among secondary stage students, with varying levels of parental involvement. Significant differences in academic performance were observed between males and females, urban and rural students, and those attending government and private schools. However, no significant difference in parental involvement is seen among secondary school students based on gender and school type, though a significant difference is noted based on location. Additionally, no significant correlation between the academic performance of secondary stage students and parental involvement is noticed concerning this group of participants. These findings highlight the need for a multifaceted approach to improve educational outcomes, addressing disparities in academic performance, enhancing parental involvement, and providing targeted support to students based on their unique needs and circumstances.
