Background: Writing as medium of communications has become the pivotal accomplishments of language learning objectives. It still becomes the challenging part especially for learners who come from non-English speaking country. Their hindrances to elaborate the sentences, lack vocabularies and use the right words in their essay make the essay difficult to understand. Purpose: Therefore, the significance of the research is to identify the readability level of student’s essay written by grade eight learners under Cambridge curriculum. Design and methods: This readability is to define which level of readers is suitable to read the text and who will understand it. Then, one of the elements in analyzing the level of readability is the number of complex words the texts. Therefore, there are about 13 students’ essays were examined using Flesh-Kincaid Ease Formula and SMOG index. Results: The result found out the they have diverse readability level in between 7th grade to college level. By these results as well, it appears the number of complex words used in their essay which then being described of what kinds of complex sentences used in their essays.

Background: This research is raised due to the problems of students who experience limitations in storytelling skills in Indonesian language lessons. This is due to the lack of concentration in the learning process because the learning methods and media used are less varied so that the ability to master the storytelling skills of students is low. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of the use of image media on storytelling mastery in Indonesian language subjects for grade 1 students. Design and methods: This research was a quantitative experimental research, which was carried out at MI Al Mubarokah Cileungsi-Bogor. The form of experiment in this research is Post-test Only Control Group Design. The data collection technique that the author uses is in the form of observation and documentation. The subjects in this study were students of class 1 MI Al-Mubarokah, which consisted of 20 students who were divided into 2 groups, namely 10 students as the experimental class and 10 other students as the control group. Results: From the research results were analyzed using statistical analysis techniques. the p value is shown .000 < .05 that is indicated there is difference between the data mean of experiment and control class. Mean rank of experiment class is 27.05 while mean rank of control class is 13.95. it means the experiment class has higher mean than control. With this calculation the hypothesis can be concluded that picture media is improving the Indonesian story telling ability of the students. Then the application of image media is effective in improving storytelling skills in Indonesian subjects for class 1 students of MI Al Mubarokah Academic Year 2021/2022.

Background: Quran's introduction to children has evolved over time. Animation can now be a medium to learn the Quran such as "Riko the Series: Murrotal Edition” which introduces the Quran to children. Purpose: The aim of this research is limited to how the visualizations constructions of “Riko the Series: Murrotal Edition" in the Surah At-Tin episode introduce Surah At-Tin to the children. Design and Methods: This research uses a descriptive qualitative method with the video of Surah At-Tin’s episode from “Riko the Series: Murrotal Edition" as the source of the data. Due to the fact, that the research study is limited to the visualization of the episode, the theories that are used as tools in analyzing the data are the theory of Semiotic Significations. Result: Visual significations are divided into six (6) structures, they are (1) the opening of the video; (2) the section header; (3) the opening of the surah; (4) the visualization during the recitation of the surah; (5) the second reading section; (5) the third reading section. There are two forms of visual patterns found in the video (episode), they are: (1) the visualization related to verses 1 and 2 of surah At-Tin; (2) the visualization narratives which have no specific form in relation to verses 3 until 8 of Surah At-Tin. The video applies repetition (three times) to introduce and familiarize Surah At-Tin. The solid visual signification construction serves as a medium to introduce Surah At-Tin to children. Keywords: Quran, Murrotal, Riko the Series, Islamic Education, Signification Theory.
