Waste cooking oil of renewable polymer foam composite as sound absorbent materials 废食用油的可再生高分子泡沫复合材料作为吸声材料

The acoustics of renewable polymer foam composite as sound absorption materials has been developed. The beginning stage is started by converting waste cooking oil into renewable monomer, added with waste fillers and crosslink with hardener to solidify as polymer foam composites. The sound absorption coefficient (α) at different frequency range revealed that the renewable polymer foam of 10.0 % fillers shows highest α of 0.963. This is contributing to the acoustic application of car dashboards, door panels, cushion and etc.

Teachers' and students' perceptions toward augmented reality materials 教师和学生对增强现实材料的看法

Augmented reality in learning has been widely studied, but mostly from the student's perspective and learning effectiveness. The few researches explored the instructors' and students' perceptions. In this paper, we developed an Augmented Reality English Learning System to examine teachers' and students' perceptions toward AR materials. The teachers and students were interviewed to explore their viewpoints about ARELS teaching after finishing learning the AR English course. The AR English Materials could raise the learning motivation and enhance students' concentration and affect their learning behaviors.

A real-time hot swapping technique for SSD RAID systems 一种用于SSD RAID系统的实时热插拔技术

NAND flash memory solid state devices are widely used in many platforms including consumer electronics and safety-critical embedded systems because they offer high performance and reliability. In previous work, we have developed a novel RAID architecture for NAND flash that protects a system from data loss in the case of failure, or wear-out, of individual flash chips. These mechanisms permit the recovery of data onto a new replacement chip when a particular element in the array reaches its endurance limit. However the use of this architecture in a hard real-time system is limited as the memory needs to be taken off-line while the replacement is actioned and so memory access times become non-deterministic with respect to time. In this paper we present a hot swapping technique for replacing elements in the array that are approaching their wear-out level that does not involve taking the array off-line - thereby increasing the systems availability and providing guaranteed response time. The result is that our hot-swapping architecture is more suited to applications with hard real-time constraints. We have implemented this technique in our FPGA-based SSD-aware RAID controller, complete with a metadata management framework to increase throughput and efficiency.

Extrinsic information in iterated decoding of fixed weight codewords 定权码字迭代译码中的外部信息

Constant amplitude multi-code (CAMC) CDMA is generated by spreading of lower dimensional codewords concatenated with bit-by-bit parity vectors. CAMC has dual aspects of a spread spectrum signal and a product code. Error correcting methods for CAMC are based either on processing gain in spread spectrum, or on iterative decoding of product codes. The weights of CAMC codewords are fixed at two symmetrical values. In this paper, we present performance improvement of CAMC by the control of extrinsic information (EI) in the iterated decoding of CAMC. The control is based on whether the decomposed codewords have the correct weights, or not. Preferred assignment of EI on correct weight and as a predictor of despreading brings an improvement in BER performance of 0.1 ~ 0.3 dB.

IOT: Intelligent Bio-tank system for smart home IOT:智能家居的智能生物罐系统

Recently, we can hear from the TV news or read the newspapers in Taiwan that outdoor air pollution is worsen dramatically, and our government warns us that we need to wear masks when going out. Indoor air quality is even worse than that of outdoor environments according to some research report. Worse indoor air quality will affect our health conditions; hence, how to improve the indoor air quality is becoming essential nowadays. In our research, we aim to propose an intelligent Bio-tank, which is an indoor home air quality monitoring and controlling system that is considered as a natural indoor air purifier. That is this system aims at improving the indoor air quality based on its goal.

A survey of performance improvement by group-based authentication in IoT 物联网中基于组的身份验证的性能改进研究

Although Internet of Thing (IoT) can be applied to many application domains by connecting all objects via Internet, security and privacy is one of the most concerns by users. In several applications, if the data is forged by attackers, it may incur unrecoverable disasters. Thus, device authentication must be supported in these security-sensitive applications. In this paper, a survey of group-based authentication (GBA) is conducted to support efficient device authentication in IoT. In addition, the performance improvement by GBA is evaluated and compared with the traditional direct authentication approach. According to the simulation results, GBA can significantly improve the performance of authentication process if the appropriate number of groups is determined.

The cytotoxicity effect of Nephelium lappaceum leaves extract on human cancer cells 枸杞子叶提取物对人癌细胞的细胞毒性作用

The most abundant compound in the Nephelium lappaceum leaves extract is gallic acid, a phytochemical with antioxidant and anticancer properties. In order to test its anticancer activity, human liver (HepG2) and lung (A549) cancer cell lines were cultured and tested with different concentrations of the crude extract. To study its cytotoxicity on normal epidermal cells, the extract was tested on K38 cell lines. However, further research is needed to test In-Vivo to study its side effects.

The TFT-LCD is one of the most widely used flat panel display (FPD) technologies. The applications of TFT-LCD technology are becoming daily popular due to the fast growing mobile device and large-size TV markets. To fulfill market needs, most of the TFT-LCD manufacturers expand their manufacturing capacities. Therefore, the TFT-LCD manufacturers need to purchase more capital equipment. Albeit important, limited scholars try to define criteria and analytic frameworks to select capital equipment suppliers for the small and medium-sized TFT-LCD manufacturers. Therefore, in this research, the authors aim to derive the key. The modified Delphi method will first be introduced to derive the most suitable criteria. Then, the weights being associated with the criteria will be derived by using the DEMATEL based network process (DNP). Finally, the VIKOR will be used to derive the most suitable capital equipment supplier. The key factors and the analytic framework can be used for evaluating and selecting FPD and semiconductor equipment suppliers in the future.

Construction and application of flipped instruction model 翻转教学模式的构建与应用

The era of the 21st century is the emerging knowledge-based economy, with the rapid growth and popularity of information technology and the Internet, the use of digital tools to enhance the learning outcomes had been more common. Therefore, learners in the digital learning status also were lack of interaction and discussion among others, including teachers and other learning participants. According to this condition, flipped teaching was raised to enhance learning outside the classroom. This study aims to understand the application of the conventional flipped teaching to supplement classroom teaching, the understanding of their implementation procedures, key factors and the effectiveness of learning and teaching strategies to develop a flipped teaching model. Literatures were explored to analyze the status regarding flipped learning. Invited teachers who implemented flipped teaching had participated in-depth interviews for teaching practice. Then, questionnaires were conducted to investigate the students' abilities learned after the teaching material flipped. The data of interviews and questionnaires were analyzed and discussed. The further conclusions and recommendations were made to be the reference of future research and practitioners.

The issue of the indoor air quality act in Taiwan — Taking the diagnosis case of home for the disabled, Bureau of social affairs in Kaohsiung for example 台湾室内空气质量法之议题——以高雄市社会事务局残疾人之家诊断个案为例

Many children who use the Home for the Disabled cannot clearly express their thoughts or opinions due to cerebral palsy or autism. The humidity of the building ranges from 73% to 94%, while the temperature ranges from 29 to 31°C, thus, it becomes an environment where funguses and bacteria are easily developed. Among these buildings, which are regulated by the IAQ Act, many cannot cope with the humid climate of southern Taiwan from their first design stage. In order to dehumidify these poorly designed buildings to the level that would not harm the human body, it is necessary to use the power of machines. However, in order to save energy and costs, the law is ignored, and these buildings are allowed to exceed the regulated level of humidity.
