Brazilian Adaptation of the Brief Intervention for Adolescent Alcohol and Drug Use Manual The purpose of this study is to present the adaptation process of the Brazilian version of the manual Brief Intervention for Adolescent Alcohol and Drug Use. In the original version, developed in the United States, the session format is individual, and so, another objective was to adapt the manual for the group format. The protocol provides for four sessions, two of which involve participation of parents/guardians. The process was carried out in three stages: 1. translation and back-translation of the manual and adaptation of interventions and resources; 2. expert review of the material; 3. verification of intervention adequacy through two pilot studies, the first in an individual format and the second in a group format. The results evidenced the adequacy of the manual revision for the Brazilian context and for use in groups.

Identification need scale: psychometric properties in the Brazilian context The need for group identification reflects an individual tendency to identify with social groups or goals. This research seeks to adapt the Identification Need Scale (INS) to the Brazilian context, counting on two studies on its factorial validity evidence and internal consistency. Study 1 included 244 participants (mean age=21.9, 66.3% female), and the results suggested a two-factor structure: selfdefinition and belonging. Study 2 included 246 participants (mean age=21.3, 68.7% female), confirming this two-factor structure, with satisfactory adjustment indicators (e.g., CFI=0.96, TLI=0.94). In both studies the factors demonstrated adequate reliability indices. It was concluded that the Brazilian version of INS gathered adequate psychometric evidence, supporting its use in Brazil to evaluate the individual tendency to define itself as a member of a group.

A Time-to-contact and Collision Estimation Task: Preliminary Evidences of Reliability and Validity This study analyzes some psychometric properties of a Time-to-contact and Collision Estimation Task. This type of measure is often used as part of driver testing in many countries. However, available evidences of validity are scarce. Sixty participants (split evenly between professional drivers and general population) completed the task on two occasions. The results were positive in some respects (e.g., internal consistency), but also show the need for changes and improvements in the task design. Further studies are needed to support the use of this type of measures.

– Investigating evidence of content and structural validity in cognitive training tasks for the elderly The present article reports the results of two validity studies conducted in a cognitive training session for the elderly. The theoretical model adopted for the intervention predicted the stimulation of five cognitive abilities. A structural validity study investigated the replicability of the theoretical model in a Bayesian factor analysis. The results pointed to fit and convergence of the five-factor model (Heidel's diagnostic test: p <0.05 for the items); however, the task distribution was not fully confirmed in the empirical model. The report concludes with partial confirmation of the theoretical model adopted for the training.","PeriodicalId":177093,"journal":{"name":"Avaliaçao Psicologica: Interamerican Journal of Psychological Assessment","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-07-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133012682","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Performance of Non-Patient Children and Adolescents in Zulliger SC This article presents and compares the performance of children in the Zulliger Comprehensive System (ZSC) according to age. A sample of 304 children of both sexes, from 7 to 14 years of age, attending public and private schools, were evaluated by ZSC, considering 70 variables of the test. Data analysis incorporated descriptive statistics, One-way ANOVA (Tukey post hoc test), t Student test and Cohen's test. The results showed significant differences that allowed sample division into three groups. Eleven variables showed significant differences between groups with moderate to large effect sizes. The most evident aspect was the developmental cognitive evolution, corroborating findings in the literature. The data showed that ZSC is a valid instrument for psychological evaluation of the studied age group.

Boys and Girls: Cultural Influences in the Zulliger Method The objective of this study was to compare the performance in the Zulliger Comprehensive System (ZCS) as a function of biological sex in children from Ceará. The study included 68 children, divided equally in sex and age, ranging from 6 to 11 years. The Raven and ZCS tests were administered to the children individually. The ZCS identified girls' ability to demonstrate affective needs and immature cognitive functioning and, in boys, possible meticulousness, tendencies to take refuge in fantasy, distorted use of verbalization and difficulties in interpersonal relationships. The fact that the ZCS distinguishes observed gender disparities suggests evidence of validity for the method.
