Anchored in the theoretical Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge model, this study presents results of the transcultural adaptation process and verification of validity evidence for the TPACK Survey for Meaningful Learning. A total of 472 Biology professors from the state of Rio de Janeiro participated in the study. Results showed a good understanding and acceptance of the adapted assertions. Statistical analyses indicate that the Brazilian version presents validity and reliability evidence, making it possible to provide an unprecedented evaluation tool in the Brazilian context, in relation to the professors’ perception of their different knowledge bases.

Psychometric Properties of the Multidimensional Social Expression Scale – Motor (EMES-M) in a Brazilian Sample The present article aims to describe the process of adaptation and validation of the Multidimensional Social Expression Scale – Motor Part (EMES-M) for the Brazilian context. Motor social expression consists of social skills, which are predictors of quality of life and interpersonal relationship quality. The sample consisted of 925 individuals of both sexes, between 18 and 35 years old. Confirmatory factor analyses were performed with a theoretically based eight-factor model. The scale had adequate psychometric properties, with CFI 0.910, TLI of 0.904, RMSEA of 0.049 and internal consistency of the total scale of 0.945. It also presented convergent validity, measured from correlations with scales that evaluate assertiveness and social anxiety. From the results, we conclude that the scale can be used in research contexts to evaluate social skills.7

Translation, Adaptation and Validity Evidence for the Thinking Styles Inventory – Revised II (TSI-R2) in Brazil The purpose of this study was to translate, adapt and analyze content validity evidence for the Thinking Styles Inventory-Revised II (TSI-R2) for the Brazilian context. The steps for this stage of the research were: translation, reverse translation, synthesis of translated versions, evaluation by specialists, evaluation by the target audience and pilot study. The collection sample for evidence of semantic validity was 40 students, mean age of 10 years and 8 months (SD=2.3), 75% female and 25% male. The sample for the pilot study was 84 students, with an average age of 10 years and 7 months (SD=2.7). Females represented 58.3% of the sample and males 41.7%. Both student samples attended public elementary schools in the state of Paraná. Descriptive statistics were used to treat the data and results indicated the scale’s adequacy in relation to the items’ analysis, and the judges’ evaluation was positive, allowing agreement indexes considered appropriate. Finally, convergences and discrepancies between the translated/original and the adapted versions for the Brazilian context are discussed.

Workaholism is characterized by a state of mind in which professionals work excessively and compulsively. This study aimed to evaluate the psychometric properties of two versions of the Dutch Work Addiction Scale (DUWAS-16 and DUWAS-10) for the Brazilian context. A total of 571 workers, 65.5% female, with a mean age of 36.4 years (SD = 10.8) participated in the study. The confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) of DUWAS-16 showed that the scale can be used by adopting a structure of two oblique factors (Working Excessively and Working Compulsively), or a one-dimensional structure (Addiction). The CFA of the DUWAS-10 reduced version suggests that either the one-dimensional structure (Addiction) or two oblique factors (Working Excessively and Working Compulsively) are adequate. The results indicated that DUWAS-10 can be considered superior to DUWAS-16 to evaluate the dimensions of workaholism in the Brazilian context.

Methodological criteria for the evaluation of intervention programs in Psychology The evaluation area of intervention programs in Psychology is still incipient in Brazil, although the process of monitoring and evaluating programs is fundamental for the improvement of practices and allocation of resources for social development purposes. This theoretical article aims to discuss concepts/definitions in the area of program evaluation, besides presenting scientific criteria adopted to evaluate the efficacy and effectiveness of intervention programs. Methodological criteria are presented, according to international reference agencies, for interventions to promote health and disease prevention, as well as different indicators of the results of intervention programs. The article also outlines criteria to evaluate feasibility/pilot studies, as a practice still uncommon, both in the national and international context. Finally, the importance of scientific criteria in the elaboration, development and evaluation of intervention programs in the health area is emphasized.

Adapting the Family Climate Inventory for Children The article presents the adaptation process of the Family Climate Inventory for Children (FCI-C). The scale was applied in a sample of 183 children from 8 to 12 years of age, and differences related to the school type, grade level and sex were investigated. The FCI-C presented adequate psychometric indexes with Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin equal to 0.77 and significant Bartlett's sphericity test (χ2 =741.70; gl=210, p<0.001). There was a difference (p<0.05) in the negative climate among the participants divided by schools. The instrument is useful in researching the family climate from children and can be used in interventions and research with children.
