Polyphony, evidentiality, mirativity as semantic features. Case study of Raskolni-kov’s monologue from «Crime and Punishment» by F.M. Dostoyevsky translated into French 作为语义特征的复调性、证据性和镜像性。F.M. 陀思妥耶夫斯基《罪与罚》中拉斯科尔尼科夫的独白译成法文的案例研究

The article deals with contrasting polyphony in literature and the same notion in lin-guistics. As exemplified by the Russian fiction in F.M. Dostoyevsky’s Crime and Punishment, the present study reveals that the polyphonic character of the text can be also treated as evi-dentiality and/or reactional response combined with mirativity. In order to compare the capaci-ty of expressions of the mentioned categories, a translation of the text extract is being bal-anced against Dostoyevsky’s original text.
文章将文学中的复调与语言学中的复调概念进行对比。本研究以 F.M. 陀思妥耶夫斯基的《罪与罚》中的俄罗斯小说为例,揭示了文本的复调特征也可被视为与镜像性相结合的潜在性和/或反应性反应。为了比较上述类别的表达能力,我们将文本摘录的译文与陀思妥耶夫斯基的原文进行了对比。

The article concerns the lexical features of translating a tourist guide to cultural heritage sites from German into Russian. The original text contains a large number of terms from the field of history and culture, proper names and realia. The main difficulty in translation is due to the fact that, on the one hand, they require the use of traditional correspondences, but, on the other hand, not enough information is provided about them in dictionaries and reference books. The proposed methods to overcome translation difficulties can be used when translating other publications on similar topics.

Parenthetical structures in typological perspective 从类型学角度看括号结构
Pub Date : 2023-11-28 DOI: 10.37892/2218-1393-2023-19-2-57-79
E. Ioanesyan
The article deals with the structures with epistemic modals — parenthetical questions and imperatives. A comparative study of a number of languages — Russian, Polish, Bulgarian, Ukrainian, German, English, Italian, Spanish, and Portuguese — was carried out focusing on parenthetical structures that include mental verbs. In addition, the study highlights the fact that in many cases, depending on the language pair in translation, parenthetical structures in a source language match matrix structures introducing clauses in a target language, and vice versa. Building on the bilingual corpora material the author proves that the Russian language is more likely to use parenthetical structures, while their translation equivalents appear to be either null or present matrix structures controlling a subordinate clause.

Mytho-Eponyms: Issues of Understanding and Interpretation 神话地名:理解和解释问题

This article deals with eponymous terms in the language of clinical psychology, which incorporate the name of a mythological and/or literary character, referred to as mytho-eponyms. The necessity of categorizing them as a distinct type is justified basing on the pro-found semantic relationships between the onymic and appellative components of the term, representing a relationship of a model or prototype. The model, in this context, is not static but generally constitutes an entire mythological narrative. The challenge in understanding such terms is not only linked to professional knowledge but also to the awareness of cultural texts. To assess the extent of assimilating professional knowledge represented in mytho-eponyms, a methodology for cross-professional surveying is presented. This method includes evaluating the term from the perspectives of two professional focus groups: philology students and medical students. The survey demonstrated, on the one hand, a gradual washout of cultural information from the professional sphere and the erosion of cultural meanings. On the other hand, it served as a criterion for assessing the cognitive accuracy of the term.

Semantics of regret in Romance languages: structure types, meaning, collocation restrictions 罗曼语后悔语义:结构类型、意义、搭配限制

The article discusses basic propositional structures describing regret (it's a pity that..., I regret that ....) in Spanish, Portuguese and Italian. The focus is both on semantics of the given structures and their operation as a means for propositional attitude. Their combination with the verb mood in subordinate clause is considered to be a grammatical means of subjec-tive evaluation.

Discourse markers cross-linguistically 话语标记是跨语言的
Pub Date : 2023-09-04 DOI: 10.37892/2218-1393-2023-18-1-88-113

The article deals with discourse markers — idiomatic utterances made in response to the interlocutor’s statement in the course of a conversation. The paper introduces and inter-prets discourse formulae formed with propositional verbs with the meaning of agreement and confirmation, disagreement and denial, surprise, indignation. The interest to discourse mark-ers is due to their obviously notable contribution to spoken communication. Also, this kind of items are in most cases language-specific. A variety of discourse markers in several languages is under review, with the focus on their language-specific features. The innovative and rele-vant character of the paper arises from its bearing on the area of semantic typology.
