The global increase in the flow of patients and health professionals as well as medical technology has led to new patterns of consumption and production of medical services in the past decades. Free movement of goods and services contributed to the liberalization of trade in health services. Medical tourism is one of the forms of health tourism, rapidly growing on the global market. In medical tourism, patients travel to neighboring or distant countries in order to receive medical assistance under the global trend of combining treatment with leisure. The development of medical tourism is also observed in Poland. Citizens of Germany, Great Britain and the Scandinavian countries use the services offered in Polish medical institutions most frequently. One of the main problems in the further development of Polish medical tourism is a lack of implementation of the European Directive on the application of patients' rights in cross-border healthcare. This article describes the process of medical tourism development in Poland. The phenomenon of medical tourism, types of health tourism and main drivers of that process are also characterized by the authors.

The aim of the study and the undertaken research is to adapt the CNPI-70tool to Polish conditions and then to use this scale for the evaluation of nursing students competencies. Material and methods. A CNPI -70scale survey was conducted among486nursing students analyzing their self-assessment of caring competencies at various levels of university. Results. The reliability of the scale is very high (Cronbach’s α is O,97), analyzing the70questions of the scale it can be concluded that all, except questions no5 and21,have an average or above average correlation with the result of the overall tool. The analysis also indicates that the removal of a single question from the tool does not affect its overall high reliability. The results of the self-assessment of caring competencies among nursing students show an increase in competence at the successive levels of the university course. The level of competence is also influenced by the experience of part time students. Conclusions. The Polish version of the CNPI-70scale, assessing the caring competence of nurses, takes into account the wide range of professional roles of nurses. Research confirms the high reliability of the scale thus recommending its use in research in nursing and education.

International Continence Society defines urinary incontinence as involuntary urine leakage in subjective assessment. It is essential that urinary incontinence is regarded to as a symptom not as a separate disease. Until recently, majority of the elderly society considered disorders connected with urinary continence a taboo topic. Higher awareness level and easier access to knowledge enable even the elderly patients to start therapy in the area of these afflictions more willingly. According to the world standards of urination disorders, in the first stage of treatment noninvasive treatment should be used and when it fails, surgical treatment is to be applied. It is especially crucial in geriatrics patients whose polymorbidity poses contraindications or higher risk to general anesthesia procedures. The following article presents the point of view of a physiotherapist and possibilities of using a wide range of noninvasive methods in the therapy of urination disorders. Classification of urination disorders is presented, as well as possible comorbidities relevant during urological physiotherapy

Introduction. Cognitive tests are a valuable, sensitive and useful tool for examining the effectiveness of physical training. Purpose. To show which studies are sensitive in examining cognitive changes induced by physical training. We explored meta-analysis with healthy participants and patients with MCI. Materials and methods. Analysis of meta-analysis in the EBSCO database using keywords: meta-analysis, cognitive tests, physical training, elderly. Results. 4 meta-analysis have 10 researches in common; however, diverse of inclusion and exclusion criteria led to inability in obtaining reliable results. Discussion and conclusion. Some cognitive tests seems to be more sensitive in examining results of physical training. Diversity of research methodology induces much difficulties in comparing of studies.

Dementia is a set of symptoms caused by a chronic and progressive brain disease. The disease leads to the disorders of higher brain functions such as memory, orientation, thinking, understanding, counting, ability to learn, language and assessment. Dementia causes decrease in intellectual functions and hinders basic everyday life activities. The most known disease connected with dementia is the Alzheimer’s disease. Its treatment consists of pharmacotherapy and other nonpharmacological methods, which play an important part in the improvement of patient’s functioning. Activation of the elderly person with dementia is not easy and depends greatly on our attitude. The purpose of this article is to present different therapeutic methods activating the patient in a daytime. Apart from physiotherapy, the methods include occupational therapy and memory training.

Introduction. Hepatitis C (HC) is an important medical and social problem in Poland and worldwide. The etiologic factor of the disease is the hepatitis C virus (HCV), which is transmitted by blood and blood preparation. Objective. Epidemiological analysis of the prevalence of hepatitis C in the Polish population, based on preliminary results of scientific studies and statistical data. Results. The estimation data show that in Poland the number of new cases increases annually by approximately 3000 patients. The HCV is characterized by a high level of genetic changeability, which contributes to the limited therapeutic possibilities and renders the development of a vaccine impossible. Since1997 in Poland, the number of deaths due to HCV infection has been increasing, and in the nearest years it will increase several times. In Poland, hepatitis C is frequently noted among hospital-acquired infections. These infections are one of the most frequent sources of legal proceedings by patients and their families. Conclusions. Hepatitis C (HC) is an important clinical, epidemiological, economic and social problem in Poland and worldwide. HCV is characterized by a high degree of variation, which contributes to the limited therapeutic possibilities and makes it impossible to develop a vaccine. Infections with HCV are a frequent cause for bringing civil cases to court by previous patients against health care facilities for compensations for health loss related with infection acquired during diagnosing and treatment. Considering the high risk of infection with HCV virus in health facilities non-specific diagnostics should be carried out within wide range.

Nurses´ job satisfaction is an important part of nurses´ lives affecting their productivity and performance, patients´ satisfaction and the quality of nursing care rendered. The aim of the contribution is to present job satisfaction of nurses in institutional healthcare facilities in Slovakia related to the selected demographic factors (age and gender). The research sample was composed of 206 nurses working in institutional healthcare facilities in Slovakia at the age of 23 to 63 years. The nurses´ job satisfaction was surveyed using the standardized form of the McCloskey/Mueller Satisfaction Scale that was distributed in electronic form to all nurses in Slovakia. The research was realized in Slovak healthcare facilities from December 2014 to January 2015. Significant interaction of two qualitative variables was evaluated using Mann-Whitney test with Z Adj statistics, Kruskal- Wallis with H test statistics and correlation analysis with Spearmann correlation coefficient r(S). The statistical processing found no statistically significant differences between nurses´ general satisfaction and age (p = 0.994), neither between nurses´ general satisfaction and gender (p = 0.729). The results may be influenced by the unequal representation of men and women in the sample. They demonstrate the need to investigate nurses´ job satisfaction with a focus on the identification of factors determining this multifaceted phenomenon.
