This theoretical paper highlights the dearth of research conducted on the management strategies utilised by Social Entrepreneurial (SE) organisations. It addresses the question of how does the mission of an SE organisation affect its strategy and resource management. Three key factors are posited, which will help determine the best strategic methods for the SE firm to attain its mission. They are financial structure, target markets and location of origin. A model is presented to illustrate and support the identification of the dynamic and the strategic decisions SE organisations need to be aware of when interacting in the marketplace.

Social entrepreneurship has emerged recently as one of the best solutions that reduce social, economic and environmental problems. In this study, we focus on investigating the impact of environmental factors on the formation of social entrepreneurial intention using the partial least squares structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM). To this end, a statistical analysis was done using 305 Tunisians who pursue incubation programs. Results show that the favourable environmental factors positively influence the social entrepreneurial intention. While, unfavourable environmental factors, such as poor infrastructure, financial constraints, inadequate form of accompaniment, lack of education and entrepreneurial training, and cumbersome administrative procedures, negatively influence social entrepreneurial intention. Hence, the state, incubators and financial institutions should intervene by acting on these factors in order to stimulate social entrepreneurship.

A wide range of innovative technologies have emerged to facilitate the creation, expansion, and streamlining of food value chains (FVCs) in developing countries. These technologies target agricultural production, processing, storage, marketing, distribution, and consumption. Technology has the potential to bolster food security and make FVCs more efficient. Commercialisation of technologies requires sound business strategies for products to sustain. A typology of business models is presented to assist entrepreneurs in integrating their technologies into FVCs. The impacts of abiotic stressors like access to capital, supply chain resiliency, and ownership dynamics are discussed to help entrepreneurs develop strategies for their own agricultural ventures.

Start-ups play an important role in increasing economic growth, whether as regards rising domestic production or leading to reducing unemployment. Obtaining funds for a start-up project is one of the biggest challenges that entrepreneurs might face when starting their own business. They initially pursued support from research grants, or banks, but most of the time they were unable to provide the banks with adequate guarantees. That is when it comes to the idea of setting up a special institution to provide finance to start a new business with new idea. The principle of microfinance dates back to the 1970s to provide credit to poor people who could not get money through normal channels of finance. Crowdfunding is a new trend of getting resources for the new projects, enabling entrepreneurs to take advantage of the internet to raise small amounts of money for their small business from a large number of people. Based on secondary data, the study addresses the following research questions: 1) What is crowdfunding? 2) In which context/s is it used in India? 3) How does crowdfunding help start-ups in India?

Using the Bolman and Deal (2013) framework for organisational diagnosis and managing planned change, this case study reviews the development, growth, impediments, current status and future prospects of the NGO Light of Culture. The historical town of Zhovkva in the Western Ukrainian countryside is only a 30-minute bus ride from L'viv, but it is a world apart from the commerce, tourism, urban development of its closest urban area. Started by one man with a vision, this NGO survived the collapse of the Soviet Union, corruption, economic downturns, financial crises and often a lack of public interest. Perseverance combined with vision and an engineering background lead to the formation of project-specific partnerships to keep the NGO operational and fulfil much of its mission to preserve the town's cultural heritage. The article concludes with a set of provocative questions for discussion and reflection.

The purpose of the paper is to understand the role of social capital in organisational level innovativeness. A questionnaire method was used in order to assess the role of social capital in organisations. The study found that frequency (no. of times) the TMT interacts with the contacts is significantly positively correlated with organisational innovativeness, whereas duration (how long the TMT has known the contact within the firm) has a negative correlation with organisational innovativeness. The study is an exploratory study and hence takes only 45 senior managers of private sector organisations. Therefore, generalisation is not possible. Future studies can expand its horizon. This will also facilitate better comparison between organisations.

Entrepreneurs within the SME sector using large format digital printing (LFDP) face specific decision-making problems, because of the changes in technology that influences the decision-making processes of the entrepreneur in the purchasing of a new LFDP. Rapid changes in technology are likely to continue and can cause current technologies to become obsolete overnight. The entrepreneurs within the LFDP industry are faced with rapid changes and are therefore faced with a dilemma. On the one hand, they need to make sure that the technology used produces consistent and quality products. The literature and the findings of this study, proposes an adaptation to an existing decision-making model, introducing consultant involvement in the purchase of high technology products, which is then adapted to integrate resource-forecasting areas together with timing, the type of information required, as well as external environment scanning. The existing model’s focus is on the entrepreneur’s ability to make decisions based on his/her own knowledge.

Corporate governance guidelines the world over have been debated innumerable times on the issue of disclosure, transparency, code of conduct and ethics. With the passage of time guidelines have been reshaped and redesigned so that the functions of corporations would be bettered qualifying them to be the catalysts of growth and development. In this context it would be interesting to consider the concept of ‘GREEN’ in the global landscapes and how the issues of governance, responsibility, ethics, entrepreneurship and nature (GREEN) would respond to the different situations arising out of different transactions of transitory character amongst the users. This paper is a humble attempt in this regard where relevant cases have been examined in the context of ‘GREEN’.

This article illustrates the work of charities and social businesses. Charities and social businesses might be seen as two competitive forms to solve social problems and it is the aim of this paper to show that they can also be seen as complementary approaches. Qualitative data gained through expert interviews is used to gain deep insights into the different ways of thinking and acting within those organisations. Thus, they shall be differentiated with regards to their organisational work and it shall be explored whether they could learn from each other. It will be shown that each approach has its strengths, depending on context and goals, and that both can benefit from each other.
