The aim of this study was to analyze the rhizosphere of duckweed as a site of active production of auxins of bacterial origin, primarily indole-3-acetic acid (IAA). IAA production was tested on 21 different bacterial strains. Four bacterial strains: Pseudomonas oryzihabitans 15, Pseudomonas putida 23, Hafnia paralvei 43 and Pseudomonas yamanorum 47 were selected based on increased IAA production compared to other strains tested. These strains showed continuous production of IAA even under unfavorable conditions: in acidic and basic environments, as well as in hypersaline environments. Our results suggest that these strains may have biotechnological applications in plant protection and increase yields through auxin production as central regulators of plant growth and development.

When buying mineral fertilizer, the user expects that the content of nutrients is in the prescribed minimum values indicated on the packaging and in the declaration and that the quality of used raw materials does not have a negative impact on the environment. The analysis of a number of samples of mineral fertilizers of different quantities and ratios N, P, K showed deviations from the minimum values of nutri-ent content from the declaration as well as increased content of certain heavy metals. For that reason, it is necessary that analyzes of manufactured and imported formulations are more often controlled by the competent institutions with the prescribed method of sampling.

The aim of this study is to use a comparative analysis of the ecology of invasive species Ailanthus altissima (Mill.) Swingle, Amoprha fruticosa L. and Robinia pseudoacacia L. to assess the possibilities and risks of their application in the soil and vegetation restoration in different anthropogenically modified habitats. The results of the comparative study indicate that selected tree species can have a positive effect on biogeochemical cycles and the initiation of pedogenesis. However, when using A. altissima and A. fruticosa in soil and vegetation restoration projects there is a potentially higher risk than benefit, due to the high allelopathic effects on other species in the habitat, compared to R. pseudoacacia.

The presented work is related to the study of the „water – medicinal raw materials“ system, where the influence of humidity and storage temperature on the hygroscopicity of the process was determined. Sorption isotherms help classify drying rates according to the hygroscopicity of materials to show the distribution and intensity of water compounds. Sorption isotherms make it possible to determine important information about the sorption processes of plant materials.

Food covers inorganic and organic compounds, which build the human body and provide energy. In order to ensure the proper functioning of the organism, it is necessary to take all the nutrients in optimal quantities. It is especially important to use fruits, vegetables and cereals in the in nutrition, and their regular intake helps prevent diseases of the digestive tract, hypertension, cardiovascular, neurodegenerative and infectious diseases, osteoporosis and cancer.

Hericium clathroides and Auricularia mesenterica present insufficiently studied species of fungi in the subphylum Basidiomycotina. In this manuscript we have explored the bioactivity of their acetonic extracts. We determined the antimicrobial and antioxidative activities in vitro, as well as the total phenolic and flavonoid content of extracts. Our results indicate that the tested species of fungi possess relatively good antimicrobial and antioxidative properties, which opens the way for further research and potential application of these species for biomedical purposes.

Water is one of Nature’s most valuable resources. The aim of this study was to evaluate the content of iron (Fe) and manganese (Mn) in nineteen water samples collected in the area of Deliblato Sands (southern Banat, Serbia). Concentrations of Fe and Mn were determined using Inductively coupled plasma – optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES) analytical technic. In most studied samples concentrations of Fe and Mn were 5-10-fold higher than the maximum allowed concentrations (MAC – 50 μg/L) established by national regulations on the water quality for human use. The elevated concentrations of studied elements could be attributed to the geology of the terrain in the studied region.

The aim of this study was to examine the potential of the fruit (quince and plum) distillery waste to be used as a substrate for production of Bacillus-based biocontrol agents. Slightly lower extent of in vitro antimicrobial activity against the phytopathogenic Xanthomonas spp. was achieved when using quince and plum distillery waste as a substrate for Bacillus velezensis cultivation in comparison to the synthetic medium (nutrient broth). This study represents a basis for further bioprocess development based on valorization of the alcoholic beverage industry waste through production of biocontrol agents as value-added products, in alignment with the circular economy principles.

The biological spectrum of the flora of a particular area is a complex indicator interdependence of plant life forms and ecological characteristics of the area. The spectra of life forms are a reflection of the adaptation of plants over time. The most common life forms in the flora of the investigated area are hemicryptophytes with 46.6%, followed by therophytes with 18.2% and geophytes with 12.7% taxa. Phanerophytes with 10.4% and hamephytes with 8.3% from less represented life forms. The investigated area is characterized by the largest share of hemicryptophytes, which is a characteristic of the flora of the temperate region, and a slight increase in the presence of geophytes and phanerophytes is noticeable, as opposed to slightly less hamephytes and significantly less hydrophytes.

The aim of this study was to determine the influence of the season and different types of bee feeding during the winter period on the surface of collected pollen in the hive. The smallest area (0.74 dm2) of collected pollen was determined in bee colonies fed with sugar acid invert syrup with the addition of brewer's yeast. The largest area of 1.39 dm2 was found in bee colonies fed with sugar enzyme invert syrup with the addition of brewer's yeast. The obtained research results indicate a highly significant influence of the beekeeping season and environmental factors on pollen yield in bee colonies. The influence of the type of bee feeding during the winter period has no statistically significant effect on the surface of collected pollen in the hive.
