We were tasked with testing a multicomponent aqueous solution for injection used in medicine. The composition of the solution included the following components: Riboflavin sodium phosphate (vitamin B2), Thiamine HCl (vitamin B1), Pyridoxine HCl (vitamin B), Dexpanthenol (vitamin B5), and Nicotinamide (vitamin B3), also benzyl alcohol. The complexity of the simultaneous determination of these components was that they differ in their acid-base properties, physical-chemical properties, concentration in solution, and solubility in the mobile phase. The key to solving this task is the correct choice of method for analyzing riboflavin sodium phosphate in each vitamin mixture. Riboflavin is taking particular attention because this component has a few isomers that are separated by HPLC.

Remote medical treatments have emerged; an example is the video conferences. These technologies serve patients who are geographically distant from medical centers. The integration of medical treatment with technology such as telemedicine in providing pediatric medical care has increased recently, leading to healthcare access simplifying disease management protocols, and improving the control of pediatric health status. The main objective of this study was to review the literature on the updated use of telemedicine in the current implications of telemedicine in pediatric healthcare. The results showed that the widespread of telemedicine in various disciplines of pediatric healthcare indicates its potential implications as technology advances.

Globally recognized for its antifungal and anti-inflammatory properties, Calendula officinalis (Marigold) comprises various constituents, including carbohydrates, amino acids, terpenoids, glycosides, lipids, fatty acids, and carotenoids. In in-vitro assessments, it demonstrated effectiveness ranging from 54% to 79% against fungal infections, attributed to the significant presence of sesquiterpene, hydrocarbons, sesquiterpenols, δ-cadinene, α-cadinol, and epi-α-muurolol. Conversely, it also showcases robust cytotoxic activity against colon cancer, leukemia, and melanoma cells in human cancer lines, primarily due to the existence of two triterpene glycosides, calenduloside F 6¢-O-n-butyl ester, and calenduloside G 6¢-O-methyl ester.

Background and Objectives: In Nigeria, traditional use of medicinal plants, like Chrysophyllum albidum, for diarrhoea persists. This study assessed its effectiveness in treating diarrhoea in rats. Methods: Extract and Fractions from the plant were tested for antidiarrhoea effect. The process involved methanol extraction and fractionation using hexane, ethyl acetate, and butanol. Rat models were used to evaluate the effects on castor oil-induced diarrhoea, enteropooling, and gastrointestinal motility. Results: Defecation caused by castor oil-induced diarrhoea was inhibited significantly by 53.55, 78.48 and 74.69 % at 500 mg/kg of methanol extract, ethyl acetate, and n-hexane fraction respectively, and by 50.99 and 63.69 % at 250 and 500 mg/kg of butanol fraction respectively. The volume of intestinal content and weight of intestinal content were reduced by 76.74 and 80 % at 500 mg/kg of ethyl acetate fraction. Also, the volume of intestinal content and weight of intestinal content were reduced by 70.93 and 70.83 % at 500 mg/kg of n-hexane fraction. At 250 and 500 mg/kg, the ethyl acetate fraction inhibited intestinal motility by 58.65% and 76.50% respectively. The n-hexane fraction at 500 mg/kg showed a 66.35% inhibition. Conclusion: These fractions from Chrysophyllum albidum leaves exhibit potential antidiarrhoea compounds, as evidenced across all three study models. Ongoing research aims to isolate these compounds for further investigation.

Epilepsy is a neurological disorder marked by sudden recurrent episodes of sensory disturbance, loss of consciousness, or convulsions, associated with abnormal electrical activity in the brain. The incidence of epilepsy is highest during childhood, especially for children aged 0 - 14 years. The goal of the study is find out the prescribing pattern of antiepileptic drugs in different types of seizure disorder in children. An educational observational study was carried out among 55 samples in the In-patient Department of Pediatrics, in a tertiary care teaching hospital, Bangalore. The data was collected by using self-designed data collection form. All information’s were processed and analyzed by using Microsoft excel. In the present study, breakthrough seizures was the most commonly observed type of seizure followed by simple febrile seizure. The most commonly prescribed antiepileptic drug was levetiracetam, followed by clobazam in monotherapy. Majority of the patients were prescribed with monotherapy followed by dual therapy. Levetiracetam + Clobazam, Levetiracetam + Sodium valproate and Levetiracetam + Phenytoin was the most preferred combination. Drug use pattern of Antiepileptic Drugs was described based on WHO prescription indicators, which shows out of 55 sample size, average number of drugs per encounter was 0.5, 44% of injections were encountered, antibiotics prescribed were 0%, drug prescribed based on generic name were 54% and 93% of drug was encountered based on essential drug list. Antiepileptic prescribing in this study population was only 56% in accordance to the ILAE treatment guidelines for epilepsy.

Medication errors are a problem that has always threatened the well-being of patients, in our study we will highlight one of the most common causes, it is the Look Alike and Sound Alike medications that can contribute to up to 25% of all medication errors and harm about 250,000 people a year. Also causes several difficulties for health professionals, either in hospitals or in pharmacies. This is a descriptive and analytical cross-sectional study with health professionals in pharmacies and hospitals, which took place between 2022/02/22 and 2022/08/11, in the form of an anonymous questionnaire, The statistical study was carried out with the Jamovi software and Microsoft Excel. One hundred and thirty four responses were received, divided between 71 for pharmacies and 63 for hospitals, targeting services with a high workload. A percentage of 87% of participants from pharmacies confirm that they are already confronted with medicines with similarities either at the level of packaging or at the nomenclature, 71% of hospital participants also confirm it, and among all participants 58% are already facing medication errors caused by these types of drugs. Our study can confirm that the problem of Look Alike and Sound Alike drugs is as always a serious problem, which needs more vigilance at the different levels of drug use, there are also international recommendations issued to minimize the risk of these medications.

Lung cancer develops when lung cells divide rapidly, which leads to the growth of tumors. It is the most prevalent cancer and the major factor in men's cancer-related mortality. The goal of the study is to assess prescription pattern in patients receiving chemotherapy for lung cancer. A study on prescription pattern will help in optimizing the anti-malignancy therapy with improved efficacy & minimal toxicity. This study assesses prescription pattern in patients receiving chemotherapy for lung cancer. This was a prospective observational study carried out in the Out-patient Department of Oncology in tertiary care teaching hospital, Bengaluru. A total of 37 samples were collected, of which 31 were selected for the study. Subjects for the study were identified by the investigator during ward rounds based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Relevant data collected were recorded on the Self-designed data collection form. All recorded data were entered and analyzed using MS Excel. Descriptive statistics were computed for quantitative variables. The majority of the subjects involved in the study were prescribed with Carboplatin. Carboplatin with Pemetrexed Disodium was the most preferred combination therapy. In the present study, we have concluded that the oncologists in this hospital prefer Cytotoxic and Targeted drugs over Hormonal drugs for the treatment of lung cancer.
