The purpose of the research proposed in this paper is to develop a Low-Power Tracking System, which can meet the special needs of the security of a mobile device. The system contains two parts: the GPS terminal in the module receives the locating information of the tracked device, and the control center. This paper discusses both hardware and software design of the tracking system. In the end, the future research of the positioning and tracking system is discussed.

In this paper, we present a method for signal reconstruction using orthogonal transform based on discrete Legendre polynomials. Using such a transform provides computational advantages over polynomial basis. We extend the discrete Legendre polynomials to two-dimensional discrete Legendre polynomials for reconstructing and compressing an image. In the applications, we notice that when the order of a polynomial becomes large, the proposed method tends to exhibit numerical instabilities. We bring forward a possible way to avoid such instabilities. Simulation results illustrate that the error resulted from compression is usually low with a satisfactory compression ratio by using the proposed method. An application in system identification is also presented.

Gradual degradation is the pivotal factor in prognostics analysis while the performance degradation is difficult to get with limit or blurry data. Based on the failure mechanism analysis of axial piston pump, the abrasion resulting from uneven contact between valve plate and cylinder barrel is the crux. With measured value, this paper presents a updated grey model and algorithm flow based on fix dimension updated technique and δ filter, in which the grey model overcomes the influence of uncertainty and disturbance and δ filter improves the quality of original data. Through renewing the information of grey model dynamically, the precision of prognostics increases greatly. Application indicates that the updated grey prediction algorithm could strengthen the scoring of new data and improve the prognostic accuracy with limit data.

In this paper, a framework for video signature indexing and copy detection incorporating a bitmap structure is proposed. The work we present improves the computational time during the detection process of video matching, as well as reducing the space needed to store the video signatures. In addition, the method improves the detection in the case where a caption or logo has been inserted into the original video. The proposed framework is composed of two levels of bitmap indexing. The first level reduces the time taken for performing video matching between a query video and videos in the database. This can be achieved by grouping videos (keyframes) into clusters and using them as the first level index. During the video matching process, this index is used to determine the relevant clusters, so that the video in question need only be matched with those clusters, rather than the entire database, significantly reducing the computational time. The second level index reduces the space required to store the video signatures. This is achieved by converting the video signatures into bitmap vectors. In addition, another advantage of adopting a bitmap indexing method is that a low-cost Boolean operation such as AND, OR, and XOR can be utilized in the analysis. This two-level indexing scheme is simple but efficient and improves the overall system performance.

Control systems of switchable transformers play a prominent role in achieving precise timings for switching actions and providing monitoring and protection for the transformers. Since the first energy efficient distribution switchable transformer was designed and built, several designs of control system have been introduced. This paper presents a further development of the control system design which is intended to be embedded in a 3-phase 10 kVA energy efficient switchable distribution transformer. The overall new idea in this design is to implement a modular approach and CAN (Controller Area Network) bus so that multiple jobs can be handled in parallel and a better performance of a control system can be achieved. An AVR microcontroller from Atmel with a built-in CAN controller is used to handle controlling, processing and communication in each module. A physical connection called CAN bus is implemented to achieve reliable communication for up to 1Mbit/s between the modules. Furthermore, a simple protocol has been developed and tested using several microcontroller development boards. This protocol handles transfer of data which are mostly digital values as representation of physical parameters from voltage transformers, current transducers and temperature sensors. The overall system has been tested by applying multiple complex jobs that should be handled by the system, such as reading sensors, processing data, timing controls, remote monitoring and protection.

This paper proposes a Batch Support Vector Machine-Trained Fuzzy Classifier (BSVM-FC). The BSVM-FC is a fuzzy system that consists of Takagi-Sugeno (TS)-type fuzzy rules. For structure learning of the BSVM-FC, there are no fuzzy rules initially. The BSVM-FC online generates all rules according to distributions of training data. A linear support vector machine (SVM) is used to tune the rule consequent parameters. The use of SVM is to give the classifier better generalization performance. Simulation is conducted to very the performance of the BSVM-FC. The BSVM-FC is applied to channel equalization. Comparisons with Gaussian-kernel SVM demonstrate that the BSVM-FC helps to speed up training and test times, and reduce classifier size without deteriorating the generalization ability.

This paper studies the tracking problem for a class of stochastic nonlinear interconnected systems with unknown parameters involved. By employing filtered transformation, the stochastic Lyapunov-like theorem and the backstepping design technique, a decentralized output-feedback controller and parameter adaptive law are proposed. It is proved that the designed adaptive controllers can ensure the boundedness in probability for all the signals in the closed-loop system. The tracking error can converge to a small residual set around the origin in the sense of mean quartic value.

This paper proposes an output tracking via TS-SCMAC and virtual desired variable (VDV) approach for a class of time-delay systems with uncertainties. The overall control output tracking system has H∞ control performance. The advantages of the proposed methodology are i) information of system equilibrium is not required simplifying the controller design. ii) overall output tracking system has H∞ control performances. Moreover, we consider the example of continuous stirred tank reactor system. The effectiveness of the proposed controller is validated by satisfactory numerical results.

This document presents two methods to reduce the reactive power at converter topology level and control level respectively. This study has been performed to decrease the total reactive power for ITER Tokamak to reduce the overvoltage and avoid low-frequency resonant caused by the fast and large reactive power variation within 20ms. The detailed operation and its reactive power reduction of these two methods has been presented and compared.

This paper analyses and designs a new soft-switching single-phase high power factor voltage-doubler rectifier. The proposed rectifier combines the conventional pulse-width-modulation technique, soft commutation technique and instantaneous average line current control to promote the circuit performance. Comparison with conventional boost rectifier, the proposed rectifier own double voltage function at output port without additional voltage stress on main switches. A soft-switching auxiliary circuit is configured in the presented rectifier to provide the soft-switching function on main switches and auxiliary switches and improve the problem of switching losses and EMI. The proposed converter uses dual boost converter type to reduce the semiconductor count on power flow path and reduce conduction losses. In the control strategy, the proposed circuit uses the average current control mode to synthesize a stable sine-wave input current with low harmonics. A prototype has been implemented in laboratory to verify circuit theory.
