At present, large amounts of CO2 are emitted from residential households which are increasing rapidly. Thus, it is expected that renewable energy system, e.g., photovoltaic (PV) system, and solar collector (SC) system will be adopted in those houses. However, the initial cost of PV system is very high and it is difficult for house owners to recover the initial cost within the life time of PV and SC system. Therefore, Japanese government proposed Renewable Portfolio Standard (RPS), Feed-in tariff and etc, to support the house owners. This paper evaluates the reduction of energy, CO2 and cost by comparison of performances with the proposed PV, SC and hybrid (PV/SC) systems included economic effect of Feed-in tariff. The performances were evaluated from the adoption effect of the proposed system by testing electric houses with electrical water heater system or heat pump system (HP). As a result, energy reduction rate of all-electric house with adopted PV/SC electrical water heater system is 94.1%. Furthermore, cost reduction rate and applied Feed-in tariff of all-electric house with adopted PV/SC electrical water heater system is 176.5%. Cost reduction rate and applied Feed-in tariff of all-electric house with HP adopted PV/SC system is 195.9%. Empirical results indicate that this adoption of PV/SC system can reduce energy consumption, CO2 and cost efficiently.

With recent strong emphasis on rapid development of information technology, the decisions made on the basis of early software reliability estimation can have greatest impact on schedules and cost of software projects. Software reliability prediction models is very helpful for developers and testers to know the phase in which corrective action need to be performed in order to achieve target reliability estimate. In this paper, an SVM-based model for software reliability forecasting is proposed. It is also demonstrated that only recent failure data is enough for model training. Two types of model input data selection in the literature are employed to illustrate the performances of various prediction models.

Focusing on the function shortage and low productivity of existing testing equipment in the semiconductor rectifier bridge manufacture procedure, we designed a master-slave structure testing system. In this system, a PC acts as host processor, and several distributing local single chip micro controllers(SCMs)act as slave processors. The SCMs mainly perform classification and testing each rectifier, and the PC performs data display, counting, storing, printing and other test functions. The communication between the principal and the subordinate machine uses RS485. The communication software at the host is written in VB6.0 based on the Windows operation system. We used MSComm's communication API in VB6.0 to access serial ports, and implemented data reception and transmission. In order to support long distance transmission outdoors, to increase anti-interference performance and to resist lightning storms, the voltage level convert between SCMs' TTL and RS-485 is performed by a SN75LBC184 chip which can be both anti-lightning and can bear 8kV static electricity shock. Applications showed that the newly designed system has the characteristics of reliability, obviously high working efficiency, and decreasing the rectifier bridge production cost.

The objective of this paper is to design algorithms for tracking the trajectory of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). A reference path is generated and recorded by flight simulator software, X-Plane, which provides the flight information to guide the UAV towards the target path. The flight motion is modeled with linear ordinary differential equations, considering both longitudinal and lateral motion. The stability derivatives and aerodynamic coefficients of dynamic equations are derived from flying situations and specifications of UAV and airfoil. Based on the flight dynamics, Bayesian filtering is applied to estimate the control inputs of dynamic equations. The proposed algorithm is verified via simulations for takeoff, level flight and landing, which show that the proposed scheme is feasible for UAV guidance.

Application of distributed generation (DG) in distribution system is expected to increase in the near future due to its positive impacts such as voltage support, improved reliability, small size and losses reduction. However DGs may have negative impacts on power quality, such as voltage regulation, harmonic distortion, islanding and confliction with relaying and reclosing. This paper investigates the effect of the Distributed Generation (DG) and its size on voltage flicker and voltage sag which is considered recently as an urgent power quality problem that can affect motor starting, temperature rise, overloading of generators, motors and may cause health risk problems due to the annoying light flicker which is consequence of voltage fluctuation. The effect of different sizes of DG on the voltage flicker and voltage sag in different buses of IEEE 34 buses meshed distribution system has been investigated. To support this argument, simulations are achieved on MATLAB/SIMULINK, where the results reveal the amount of effect of DG on voltage flicker and voltage sag for different types of buses of meshed distribution system.

This paper deals with simultaneous localization and mapping(SLAM) problem for a mobile robot that travels around the indoor environments. A single camera looking up the ceiling is used as the only sensor. Line features are extracted from the boundaries between the ceiling and walls and parameterized for SLAM update. Extended Kalman Filter(EKF) is used for simultaneously estimating the current robot pose and building a map with the line features. When the robot is kidnapped, Monte Carlo Localization(MCL) is used for finding the robot pose. To improve the localization performance, the resampling method is modified. The experiment is practiced in our indoor test bed and the proposed algorithms are proved by the experimental results.

In order to improve power system reliability, high voltage circuit breaker(HVCB) as an important power equipment, the insulation state must be monitored reliably. In the paper, a design approach for real-time data acquisition and remote transmission system base on field programmable gate arrays(FPGA) and ARM technology is presented. The approach adopts an overall structure of FPGA+ARM + IPC and the system has all the functions of sampling, measurement and communication. It can monitor on-line temperature, insulation, electric and mechanical parameters of HVCB. The signal is analyzed and disposed, and the processed data is transported to remote IPC, thus all dates are recorded and information is shared. The important points of research focus on the monitoring and calculation of SF6 gas moisture and density in the paper. The presented device is excellent in the ability of real-timing and high reliability through an analysis of the test results.

This paper presents the idea of using the Switched Reluctance Motor (SRM) as an alternative to previously used drives, in wide good and other industrial applications. In order to show the advantage of the SRM, the speed control of a switched reluctance motor (SRM) is designed by blending two artificial intelligence techniques, genetic algorithms and fuzzy PI control. Here the Genetic Algorithm (GA) is used to optimize the rules of fuzzy inference system. The importance of the fuzzy PI controller is highlighted by comparing the performance of various control approaches, including PI control and fuzzy control for speed control of SRM motor drive in terms of rise time, settling time, overshoot and it is optimized using GA.

Lamb wave has many applications in non-destructive testing as its advantages of the capability for long-range testing from a single location. Electromagnetic ultrasonic technique also has many advantages, such as being free of couplant and preconditioning. So, electromagnetic ultrasonic Lamb wave possesses great superiority in inspection. However, Lamb wave's characteristic of multi-modes and dispersion, like other guided waves, is a significant problem for practical applications. In order to obtain clear signals that can be reliably interpreted, a method for optimizing excitation of electromagnetic ultrasonic Lamb wave has been studied. Based on the fundamental characteristic equation of Lamb wave, the exciting equation has been deduced and the exciting curves have been plotted to instruct the design of electromagnetic acoustic transducer (EMAT) for choosing reasonable operating points in the curves. The optimization method verified by experiments can effectively remove the effect of multi-modes and dispersive and the zero-order modes are of great engineering value in real applications.

In the operation of central AC (air conditioning) systems, the energy consumption of chillers account for a large amount of proportion. Different numbers and capacities of chillers and their auxiliary facilities will lead to different operating energy consumption. A reasonable installation scheme of chillers and their auxiliary facilities is of great significance in reducing the total energy consumption of central AC systems. In this paper, with the help of an existing building located in Baoding, China, dynamic simulation to the operation of a central AC system in summer is carried through. First, the mathematical models of the parameters of the main facilities are established, and the electric power consumption simulation modules of the central AC system are set up by using the Matlab/Simulink tool. Second, four installation schemes of main facilities are introduced and the simulated electric power consumption curves of operation are obtained. Finally, through the analysis to the simulated results, the optimal installation and operation scheme of AC system are proposed. The work will be good references to the system design and operation, as well as the system retrofit of central AC systems to achieve the operating energy conservation.
