Fulfillment of energy needs and nutrients was a major factor that could optimized the nutritional status of athletes in order to improve their performance. The aim of this study was to analyze the relationship between energy and macronutrients intake with the nutritional status of young athletes in Education Center for Student Sports Training, Semarang. This descriptive correlation study used cross-sectional design in 40 student athletes from martial arts branches. BMI and percent body fat were used as the main indicator of the nutritional status assessment of the subject. The subject’s body fat thickness was measured to estimated the percent of body fat. The subject’s intake and adequacy of the energy, carbohydrates, fats, and proteins also measured using a multiple 24-hours recall (three days nonconsecutive). Results show that the daily energy, carbohydrates, proteins, and fat intake are not significantly correlate with BMI for age (p > 0.05). In addition, daily intake of energy, carbohydrates, proteins and fats are related significantly with the percent of body fat (p<0.05) despite the adequacy of energy, carbohydrate, protein, and fat levels entirely. It can be concluded that the daily intake of energy and macronutrients can affect body fat composition. Keywords— athletes, intake, nutritional status

The aim of this research was to evaluate two kinds of SAQ training for elementary school children on physical fitness and cognitive function. One hundred and twenty children were allocated equally to three groups: a control group (C), the SAQ of hand (SAQ-H), and the SAQ of leg (SAQ-L) groups. All participants were measured Trail Making Test A and B (TMT A & B), run 20-meter dash, Shuttle and Zig-Zag Run, Zig-Zag Run, a reaction time of hand and leg, and coordination. The C and SAQ-H groups had a significant difference in hand reaction time and coordination. The C and SAQ-L groups had a significant difference in coordination. There was no significant difference between groups for TMT A&B, run 20-meter dash, Shuttle and Zig-Zag Run, and Zig-Zag Run. The C group had increased significantly in some dependent variables after training. The SAQ-H and the SAQ-L groups had significantly increased in almost dependent variables after training. In conclusion, there was no important distinction between SAQ-H and SAQ-L in the enhanced physical fitness and cognitive function of elementary school students. However, the SAQ-H and SAQ-L could improve primary school students ' physical fitness and cognitive function. Keywords— SAQ, physical fitness, cognitive function

Curcumin Supplementation and Its Effect on Recovery Process Following Peripheral Fatigue
R. H. Ali, H. Ray, A. Rusdiana
The purpose of this study was to determine the ability of curcumin for accelerating the recovery process after peripheral fatigue in human; as well as lactate clearance (LC), decrease of heart rate (DHR) and the recovery of vertical jump performance identified by the leg power (LP) and jump height (JH). 18 healthy men (age = 19.68 ± 0.7 y.o; BMI = 20.94 ± 1.43 Kg/m2; VO2Max = 49.30 ± 3.5 ml/kg/min) were divided into two groups (experiment and control) carried out the experimental trial for 4 weeks. Endurance training using ergocycle with moderate intensity (50-70% HRMax) was done 3 times a week. 1.1 gram/day curcumin consumed by experimental group and the control group was given a placebo sugar within. Measurements were made three times; baseline, week 2 and week 4. Experimental group showed increase of DHR. On the other way, LC only significantly increase at week 4 compared with the baseline. However, vertical jump performance recovery did not significantly increase. Comparing with the control group, only leg power recovery is significantly different, yet the mean of the experimental group mostly greater than control. The conclusion of this current results indicated that curcumin supplementation has potential to accelerate the recovery process due to peripheral fatigue. Keywords— Curcumin, Peripheral Fatigue, Recovery

Effects of Red Fruit Oil on Exercise Endurance and Oxidative Stress in Rats
F. Sinaga, P. Purba, R. N. Sinaga, R. Silaban
This study investigated the effect of red fruit oil on biomarkers of oxidative stress in maximal physical activity. Fourty rats were divided into 4 groups. The control group (I) was administered with 1.5 ml distilled water, intervention groups (II), (III) and (IV) were administered with different doses of Red Fruit Oil (0.15 ml/kgBW, 0.3 ml/kgBW, and 0.6 ml/kgBW, respectively). All groups were trained to swim for 4 weeks and then were forced to swim without a load until being exhausted. The malondialdehyde, glutathione peroxidase levels and time of swimming to exhaustion were measured in all groups. The results showed that MDA level obtained was decreasing significantly (P<0.05), glutathione peroxidase and time of swimming was increasing significantly (P< 0.05) in the intervention groups. The results suggest that red fruit oil can obviously reduce MDA level, increased glutathione peroxidase and endurance and delay fatigue induced by maximal physical activity in the rat. Keywords—red fruit oil, malondialdehyde, antioxidant
