Human-computer Interaction in Connection with Conducting Online Classes: The Case of a Technological University in Russia during the COVID-19 Pandemic 与在线教学相关的人机交互:以2019冠状病毒病疫情期间俄罗斯一所科技大学为例

Human-computer interaction necessarily takes place in education using computer-based information technology. The situation of the COVID-19 pandemic, with classes largely conducted online, makes the use of computers by both teachers and students inevitable. The online education opportunities are numerous, including remote access and increased flexibility available for the learning process. However, there are challenges of human-computer interaction that make the use of these opportunities less efficient, if not impossible. The particular case under analysis is that of Kuban State Technological University in Krasnodar, Russia. Based on the observations conducted at the university, including those provided by means of pedagogical experiment, the description of the behaviour demonstrated by the human participants of the online learning process (students and teachers, alongside with administrative and technical staff) towards computer technology is presented in its development since the introduction of the changes caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Relevant suggestions are proposed in this connection.

Program for Social and Psychological Rehabilitation of People with Disabilities 残疾人社会和心理康复项目

The article considers the program of social and psychological rehabilitation of applicants with physical dysfunctions. Social and psychological rehabilitation is defined as a multicomponent concept that is closely related to the concepts of socialization, adaptation and development of psychological skills and abilities. Research papers on psychological rehabilitation, inclusive education and distance learning caused by the spread of COVID-19 are analyzed. The article proposes program aimed at providing a systematic approach to the organization of adaptation of applicants with physical dysfunctions, implementation of psychological and pedagogical support, correctional and rehabilitation measures through training programs and inclusive tourism, research on the level of rehabilitation and adaptation to the needs of each applicant with physical dysfunctions and institution of higher education in general. Tangled and complex character of the program was implemented on the basis of the Center for Social and Educational Integration and Inclusive Rehabilitation and Social Tourism "Without Barriers" of Pavlo Tychyna Uman State Pedagogical University. The implementation of the program of social and psychological rehabilitation of applicants with physical dysfunctions resulted in increased levels of adaptation in the educational environment, increased proportion of applicants with physical dysfunctions involved in informal activities and implementation of their own social projects.

Human Factors Considerations in Design for the Elderly 老年人设计中的人为因素考虑

As the elderly population continues to grow in many developed countries, there is an immense need for products and services to improve their well-being. At present, numerous supportive technologies are being implemented to assist the elderly, both at home and outdoors. However, the application of human factors is often overlooked in the development of such technologies. Identifying human factors and ergonomic issues could help to produce designs that better meet the capabilities, limitations, and needs of the elderly. It also serves to increase the well-being and comfort of the elderly and to reduce the potential errors that often occur when using technology. Therefore, we conducted this study to analyze the prevalent problems related to human factors among the elderly and identify possible solutions to improve products and services for the target population.

Participative Development for Improving Safety– Collaborative Work Process Analysis in Nuclear Maintenance 提高安全的参与式发展——核维修协同工作过程分析

Our aim was to apply participative development of safety in the highly proceduralized and strictly managed field of nuclear industry. We used the Collaborative Work Process Analysis method to enhance cooperation in and create a shared view of maintenance across and among the organizational units of a nuclear power plant. We found that this analysis had the potential to promote the participative development of safety and that participative methods are needed in the nuclear industry to facilitate safer and more smoothly flowing work.

Automotive Central Console Interface Design 汽车中控台界面设计

This work was aimed at enhancing driving experience and safety by understanding the possibility of improving the central console physical interface experience, ergonomics and usability when dealing with in-vehicle tasks. An examination was carried out about some of the physical central console interfaces, measuring which one performed better concerning driver distraction and ease of use in double task situations. For that, a driving simulator was built, and a series of dual task tests were conducted to retrieve driving and performance data. The telemetry data about the driving line comparisons relative to a reference path, and the mean speed through the test sectors was compared to the eye tracking data, which was then compared and related to the modified self-perception subjective workload NASA Raw TLX test. It is expected that from this analysis some conclusions could be achieved that lead to an improvement opportunity to the central console interfaces. This could result from a combination of the systems, or could even give opportunity to develop an alternative new solution or a good practice guide for future design and developments.

A Suggestion on the Development of Children’s Safe Clothes Design Using Complementary Colors Effect 利用互补色效果发展儿童安全服装设计的建议

Some of pedestrian accidents are caused the drivers can’t distinguish pedestrians from surroundings, especially on the rainy/foggy/snowy days and nights. To reduce the pedestrian accidents, some children’s raincoats are designed with evident colors. And street cleaner’s uniforms use fluorescent fabric in the same purpose. According to the recent reports, flickering lights can improve object’s visibility more than fluorescent colors in the dark environment. The purpose of the proposed study is to develop safe clothes design applying complementary colors and blinking and moving LED lights. The implementation technology of complementary color and blinking LED effect for improving visibility of pedestrians that help to reduce the number of traffic accidents. This study contains 3 contents. First, before verifying a hypothesis that complementary color helps pedestrian to be recognized, it needs to be formed an algorithm. Inevitably, general color sensors hardly detect surrounding colors. Unless they are approached to subject’s surface to detect, its accuracy would not have enough effectuality. So, in this paper tries to find the algorithm that helps effective detecting by using camera. It includes computer vision technology and helps to find accurate surrounding environment’s colors. Second, this study developed a children’s raincoat applying technology that detect main color of the surrounding environment and show LED lights of its complementary color. The raincoat would help to reduce children’s traffic accidents on a rainy/foggy/snowy or any type of day. We also developed user scenario in order to explain several situations. The last, we conducted the examination to verify the effectiveness of technology and suggest the possibility of various clothes design. The method and steps for examination are as follows. Build 4 Color sensors(TSC3200S), LEDs, Arduino platform in rain coat. The color sensors attached front, back, right, left sides on raincoat detect each main color of surroundings. Then Arduino platform convert the detected color to complementary color then, show LEDs. This study would be useful to street cleaners’ uniform design who exposed to more danger and general pedestrians’ accessories.

Recently, in-vehicle environments have become smart environment with advances in IT technology. The vehicle is no longer just a means of transportation but gets the nature of information system. Therefore, in order to convey more information than in the past, a variety of displays are set up in vehicle. The object of this study is to develop visual complexity model framework for evaluating system interface. To accomplish this, we reviewed the literature about complexity measures in terms of Human-Machine Interaction and analyzed the characteristics of in-vehicle environment characteristics. Then we suggest visual complexity model framework.

Towards an action-oriented safety culture maturity scale 建立以行动为导向的安全文化成熟度量表

Whilst safety culture is seen by many as an essential ingredient for safety, it is often vaguely described. This can make it harder to lead safety culture in an organization, particularly for those at senior management level, as it is not always clear what to do in concrete terms. Since senior managers are accustomed to benchmarking systems, the approach undertaken in this study was to adapt an existing benchmarking system to safety culture, and to populate it with safety culture activities and actions. This development built on work in the Maritime sector, which focused on safety learning, and resulted in the elaboration of a dozen safety learning approaches. These approaches, together with safety culture elements taken from existing maturity scales in the air traffic management domain, have resulted in a safety culture maturity scale that is more ‘action-oriented’. This paper gives an overview of the journey towards the development of this scale, outlines the twelve safety learning approaches, and then presents the proposed safety culture maturity scale itself.

Occupational Hazards Faced by the Agricultural Hill Population 农业山区人口面临的职业危害

Hill terrains have always posed enormous challenges for human habitation. India, being a vast subcontinent, has an extensive area of hilly terrain. This paper highlights the challenges faced and the need of improving the occupational safety of hill population. For the present investigation data was collected purposively from Bageshwar and Almora districts of the Uttarakhand state in India. t was reported that hill women performed various tasks including on farm activities like harvesting, weeding, land preparation, transplanting, sowing. The main off farm activities performed by them include making firewood, making fodder, carrying firewood, carrying fodder, carrying milk/food. The domestic activities performed by them include cooking, washing, mopping, milking, collecting dung. It was found that almost 96 per cent of these tasks were found to be performed by women only while men did just the 4 per cent of these tasks. While performing these tasks the hazards reported by the respondents were attack of wild animal, slip/trip/falls, fog, flood, temperature extremities, torrential rain, earthquake, thunderstorm, snowfall, landslide, road accidents, and forest fire.

Dynamic stability of VR headsets: the effect of contact area on displacement in user motion VR头显的动态稳定性:用户运动中接触面积对位移的影响

Since the metaverse was introduced, virtual reality (VR) head-mounted displays (HMDs) are increasingly being used for VR gaming, sports and 3D films. Additionally, the Pancake optical module has made HMDs smaller and lighter, which greatly increased its comfortability. However, during real use, there will inevitably be a lot of user head mouvements, such as shaking, lowering and raising, etc., which will cause certain displacement of the HMDs due to its inertia. Then the relative displacement of HMDs may affect the pressure and pressure-bearing area of the head, which leads to user discomfort.Currently, the research on the comfort of HMDs primarily focuses on the static scenarios without mouvement. This paper investigated the relative displacement and user comfort of the HMDs in motion. The main purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between HMDs' displacement and the contact area in order to provide design guidances and insights for HMDs, particularly the binding area. This paper also proposed an effective experimental method for measuring the relative displacement of HMDs, which can be used to assess the dynamic stability.A simple VR environment was bulit to guide the participant’s head movements by moving circular lightened dots, for simulating the head mouvements in daily life. At the same time, a wearable ruler sticker was designed to measure the displacement of the HMDs relative to the head.The experimenter took measurements of participants’ heads and assisted them to get familiar with the HMDs, and then pasted ruler stickers on the participants’ faces. The participants put on the HMD and adjust it to a comfortable position. Then they completed the head movement under the guidance of the VR environment and repeated it for 5 times. The same procedure was repeated after changing the contact area of the binding with 40mm*40mm foam cotton pieces. The HMD’s position was recorded before and after the mouvement.The results shows that, the HMDs exhibit a significant displacement relative to the head, after performing typical head motions, which causes some slight discomfort. Meanwhile, after doing a data correlation with SPSS, it can be found that the contact area of the binding is one of the main reasons for HMDs’ displacement. And the displacement can be greatly reduced and the pressure comfort rarely changes when the contact area of the bindings is increased, which has a positive impact on the overall comfort evaluation. Besides, we believe that in addition to the contact area, the mass distribution, pressure, and materials also have an effect on the relative displacement of HMDs, which might be the focus of future research. In future, new prototypes will be developed to increase the accuracy of environmental variables control and the evaluation of different factors.
