This contribution presents experimental results and conclusions of an experiment focused on the video signal transmission in the frequency bands allocated for the Short Range Devices (SRD). We restrict ourselves only to slow — moving mobile application. Additional condition is to employ low cost simple devices based on ordinary and affordable third party transmission modules. Frequency modulation is used as the best candidate for the video signal transmission under such conditions. The results for two representative reception and/or movement scenarios are presented.

An advanced method for parallel computation of Lyapunov exponents in nonlinear parameter dependent continuous dynamical systems is presented. For computing exponents MATLAB with Parallel Toolbox was used. A simplest physical chaotic flow published in [2] was chosen and mathematically analysed. Obtained equation's parameters were calculated and synthesized into a circuit. Realization was implemented into a analog circuit and compared with the theory.

The paper deals with a time-domain simulation of multiconductor transmission lines (MTLs) based on the connection of the implicit Wendroff method and modified nodal analysis (MNA). The work improves the Wendroff-based techniques, with MTL's boundary conditions treated via generalized Thévenin equivalents, and thus enabling to consider simple terminating circuits only. The utilization of the MNA approach ensures a high universality and covers arbitrarily complex systems on principle. The solution of resultant MNA differential algebraic equations (DAEs) is based on the backward Euler technique. All the computer experiments have been performed in the Matlab language environment.

In this paper, a new compact realization of sinusoidal oscillator using modified current backward transcon-ductance amplifier (MCBTA) is reported. The proposed circuit employs a single MCBTA and four passive components including two grounded capacitors. The circuit provides completely de-coupled condition of oscillation (CO) of the frequency of oscillation (FO), i.e. no term in the CO is present in the FO and vice versa. Both the CO and FO are independently tunable by two different grounded resistors. The FO is also tunable by means of the transconductance and thereby is electronically tunable. SPICE simulation results have confirmed the workability of the proposed circuit.

Stereo vision refers to the ability to infer information on the 3D structure of scene from two or more images taken from different viewpoints. This paper describes procedure for depth map creating using rectified stereo images and segmentation algorithm belief propagation (BP). Very necessary steps to creating depth map are camera calibration and image rectification of the image pairs. Calibration of the stereoscopic cameras consists from a two parameters of a stereo system: intrinsic parameters, which characterize the transformation mapping an image point from camera to pixel coordinates in each camera and extrinsic parameters, which describe the relative position and orientation of the two cameras. The depth recovery is important problem of image analysis in the study of compute vision and is optimized by using the belief propagation techniques.

This paper describes and compares two different channel coding processing systems used in DVB-H and DVB-SH-A standards of digital video broadcasting to handheld devices. DVB-SH satellite handheld system, as a hybrid of satellite and terrestrial transmission paths, offers two transmission modes — Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing OFDM and Time Division Multiplexing TDM. OFDM mode only is used in Complementary Ground Component CGC terrestrial path. Both OFDM and TDM modes can be used in SC Satellite Component. DVB-SH-A OFDM mode is considered only in the paper and is compared with DVB-H terrestrial system. Theoretical simulation results of C/N requirements are included.

Signal propagation and path losses are the key elements of wireless network design. This paper describes tuning process of empirical propagation path loss models for typical environments (urban, suburban, open areas). The Hata based models were compared with data measured in Brno. Model corrections were suggested and tested for GSM frequency band. The correction is aimed on the short range propagation in cellular networks. For model fitting to the measured data and for a deviation error estimation was used the mean square error (MSE). The tuned propagation model was used for localization in cellular network using particle swarm optimization (PSO) technique and geometrical technique.

Support Vector Machine (SVM) classification requires set of one or more parameters and these parameters have significant influence on classification precision and generalization ability. Searching for suitable model parameters invokes great computational load, which accentuates with increasing size of the dataset and with amount of the parameters being optimized. In this paper we present and compare various SVM parameters selection techniques, namely grid search, Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) and Genetic Algorithm (GA). Experiments conducting over two datasets show promising results with PSO and GA optimization technique.

Orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) systems are well known for their robustness against impulsive interference. However, the impulsive interference can still significantly affect performance of OFDM systems including terrestrial digital video broadcasting (DVB-T). In this paper we present initial laboratory measurements focused on the evaluation of DVB-T receivers' impulse interference immunity. First, the impulsive interference model is adopted and the set-up for impulse immunity measurement is introduced. Then several different measurements and results are presented. Two basic scenarios are selected for the measurements. In first one we assume impulsive interference with short impulsive noise pulse duration, where only one DVB-T symbol in burst sequence is corrupted. In second scenario the impulsive noise with impulses longer than DVB-T symbol is applied.

Quality of Experience (QoE) in the context of high definition IPTV represents a purely subjective measure from the user's perspective of the overall value of the service provided. QoE cannot be taken simply as objective quality parameter of the service, but must also take into consideration every factor that contributes to overall user service perception. This paper introduces typical challenges and approaches for QoE testing of HD IPTV services. We provide an overview of influence factors, with a special focus on content types and characteristics, and we provide decision criteria for selecting subjective testing methods for IPTV research studies. We furthermore highlight related key results and learnings from the ongoing European research project OptiBand.
