This article describes the history of the contact between indigenous languages and Portuguese in the Alto Rio Negro region in the Amazon. It provides an overview of the indigenous languages spoken today in the municipality of São Gabriel da Cachoeira (AM), and shows that, despite the fact that the municipality has decreed three indigenous languages of great regional importance — Nheengatu, Baniwa, and Tukano — as “official” languages, in practice, these languages are subjugated to Portuguese in the daily life of the town, with no interpreting or use of these languages in public offices or in the health system. The article also examines the history of religious translations into these languages, and work being done to translate literary works into Nheengatu at the University of São Paulo (USP).

: We present here, a reading proposal about the struggle of a Huni Kuin group, which debased by the logic of the Brazilian National State, are silenced in its unique epistemologies and culture, possessing categories of space and territory that challenge the non-indigenous society and its parameters of relationship with the land. In this sense, we are interested in investigating the implications and developments of the actions of a State that acts in a perspective of discipline and control, of narrated borders, and therefore arbitrary and always vio-lent. As part of the problematization, we work here with the space-time category within different perspectives. Furthermore, we are interested in how these issues can be articulated with the notions of space and territoriality of a Huni Kuin group in their struggles for land, their cultures and identities, and how their singularities have a potential to confront the categories of space-time imposed secularly by the state enterprise.

The guiding theme of this work is the teaching of Portuguese as a non-native language to immigrant and refugee communities, as a language policy and a public policy of reception and cooperation between nation-states. The main objective is to give visibility to the course planning and lesson planning aspects of a Portuguese as a host language course developed in the Federal District. Some relevant questions are: (i) which agents are committed to this planning?; (ii) how important is planning for the implementation of a language course for refugees and immigrants? and (iii) what are the elements of this planning?. Methodologically, we adopted the theoretical conceptions of linguistic policy and planning by Calvet (2007); Haugen (1964) and Rajagopalan (2013, 2014), and the conceptions of course and class planning by Almeida Filho (1997, 2011) and Oliveira (2015). As partial results we point out that: (i) the elaboration and implementation of the PLAc in DF has been made possible through partnerships like the one of IMDH; (ii) there are indications that the State Department of Education of the Federal District has now committed itself to this host policy.

: This work consists of a study about a pedagogical intervention carried out in the arts discipline in order to approach intercultural relations among indigenous and non-indigenous people. The objective of this work is to analyze if the activity reached its goal which was to deconstruct stereotypes and prejudices against the indigenous by means of artists activities. To achieve this goal, were held, with the students, debates, conver-sation circles, a painting workshop and a visit to an indigenous reserve. These works were developed based on theoretical reflections developed in the scope of different fields of knowledge, such as Cognitive Linguistics (KÖ-VECSES, 2005), Cultural Studies (BHABHA, 1998), Anthropology on the Guarani and Kaiowa (BENITES, 2012), and on studies on arts and teaching (BARBOSA, 2003). The results of this work point out that there was sensibilization of non-Indian students in relation to indigenous people, deepening of knowledge on indigenous issues, on the concept of culture, and on the importance of diversifying ways of pedagogical approaches.

As tecnologias digitais (TD) são parte do nosso contexto social na atualidade. Pesquisas recentes como as de Santos, Santos e Santos (2020), Santos e Cavalcante (2019) e Pimentel e Costa (2017) demonstram que elas – as tecnologias digitais – fazem parte das “novas” formas de comunicação por meio do uso da linguagem em práticas sociais e educacionais do Brasil. Nesse contexto, resenhamos a coletânea “Tempos de Cibercultura, Narrativas Digitais e Currículo: potencialidades educativas” organizada pelos professores: Maria Aparecida Pereira Viana, Doutora em Educação currículo (PUC-SP), professora do Centro de Educação da Universidade Federal de Alagoas; e Givanildo da Silva, Doutor em Educação (UFPB), também professor do Centro de Educação da Universidade Federal de Alagoas (UFAL). A obra é organizada por nove capítulos que se complementam em torno da relação entre cibercultura, narrativas e currículo.
