The current study aimed at revealing the effect of integrative STEM approach from an Islamic perspective in improving love of learning among talented students of 9th grade at science course, and the study followed the Quasi-experimental approach according to pre-post design for one case, as the study sample was (20) talented students of 9th at Mustafa Hafez School. To answer the study main question, love of learning scale was used. The results showed that there are statistically significant differences in the result of love of learning scale between the pre and post application, also it showed that there is an effect to use science course that based on integrative STEM approach from an Islamic perspective in teaching science, this is as a result to overcome the problems that face teachers during presenting the scientific knowledge.

This is an analytical survey study which X-rayed the professionalization of media practice in Nigeria. Anchored on the social responsibility and Development Media theories of the press, the paper among other things ascertained the prevailing professionalism status of Journalism practice in Nigeria, examine the preconditions for a career to be identified as a profession, ascertained the correlation between journalism practice and preconditions for identifying a career as a profession, ascertain the processes of professionalization and ascertained the relationship between media practitioners and professionalism. The study provided a cursory look at the mass media landscape in Nigeria. The concepts of professionalism, profession and professionalization were critically X-rayed and differentiated. The study adopted a focus group discussion (FGD) method and held 3 sessions of the FGD at Onitsha, Awka and Nnewi. Using the explanation building technique as a method of data presentation, the study found, based on the preconditions for an occupation to be identified as profession, that media practitioners in Nigeria were not yet professionals. It recommended that the NUJ should regulate the entry requirements into the profession and ensure strict compliance to the code of conduct of the profession.

Introduction: Aged persons are having health problems like hearing and vision decline, muscle strength diminishes, less flexibility of skin and blood vessels, and an overall decline of physique. Their body's organ performs insufficiently with advancing age. Intelligence were also diminishes with age. The social isolation that often exists among older people can dramatically influence mental attitudes and behaviour. The Indian aged population is currently the second largest in the world. The absolute number of the over 60 population in India will increase from 76 million in 2001 to 137 million by 2021. The functional ability of elderly people is crucial to how well they cope with activities of daily living, which in turn affects their quality of life. Therefore, the purpose of this study to examine the causal relationships among factors determining elderly health. Objectives: 1) to study the socio-economic profile of the aged people, 2) to identify the health status of elderly person, 3) to examine the causal relationships among factors determining elderly health, and 4) to evaluate whether all the measures fit the recommended value, indicating a good fit of the structural model for the collected data. Methodology: A systematic random sample of 900 elderly people aged above 58 were interviewed from 45 wards, in each ward 20 persons were selected with health problems. The data on different factors were collected through questionnaire survey using 5 point Likert scale method. The causal relationships were established by structural equation modelling (SEM) method using SPSS and AMOS statistical software. Conclusion: The SEM fitted to the elderly health care data adequately. The results indicated that, the mental health, caring, family environment, life style, health expenditure had significant effect on physiological status (p<0.05). These factors had significant relationship on elderly health.

Behavioural risk factors affect the spread of diseases, particularly infectious diseases like tuberculosis (TB), the transmission which is associated with several factors, including consumption of unpasteurised milk. The few studies that have been conducted on the role of behavioural risk factors on disease transmission in North-western Nigeria are also inconclusive. This study, therefore, examined the prevalence of pulmonary TB in the region with a focus on these factors, using a survey design and the disease ecology concept as the framework. Random sampling was used to collect data from the records of 15 Directly Observed Therapy Short-course (DOTS) centres along Fulani route of seasonal migration. A structured questionnaire was administered to 461 selected patients, and data collected on behavioural risk factors included „visits to health centre to treat TB‟, „smoking‟ and „consumption of unpasteurized milk‟ as well as perceived causes of the disease. Simple Linear Regression and Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) were used to analyze data at p<0.05. Results of the regression showed „ever visited a health centre to treat TB‟ with the highest contribution (Beta=0.853), followed by „ever been a smoker‟ (Beta=0.953) for the behavioural factors; whist heredity (Beta=0.265) and God‟s wish (Beta=0.229) were perceived as the main causes of TB. There was no statistical significance of both the behavioural [F (15,44)=1.397; p=0.191] and perceived [F (19,130)=0.525, p=0.947] factors. It was concluded that behavioural factors do not affect the prevalence of TB in North-western Nigeria. Thus, cognizance needs to be taken of other factors in TB monitoring and control within the region.

Land is the basic natural resource that provides habitat and sustenance for living organisms, as well as being a major focus of economic activities. It is a finite resource and put to many competing uses. In India land is a source of livelihood for 60 % of the population through agriculture and related activities. Urbanization and resultant population growth has led to the consequent demand for land, water and biological resources and has put tremendous pressure on land. The objective of this paper is to document how this urbanization process has expanded throughout the study area and to explore how lands comprising the natural resource base, particularly agriculture and wetlands were lost and replaced by a matrix of the built and other uses of urban demand. The present study was carried out by making use of two time land use/ land cover maps of 1971 and 2010 and associated change due to urbanization was calculated. An extensive accuracy assessments of the satellite-derived maps was conducted, most of which were produced by using widely available multi-temporal Landsat imagery. The change in urbanization was derived from built-up expansion maps (the built environment) for 1971 and 2010, from which the loss in agricultural and wetland resource lands that occurred during the last forty years were calculated. The analysis revealed that there is a fast intrusion of urban activities in the agricultural landscape of the peri-urban areas. Further, wetlands are at the verge of extinction owing to their high susceptibility to encroachment which has not only resulted in threat to their ecology but also reduced their capacity as flood absorption basin.

This article is an attempt to assess the role of money in Nigerian election and political processes as a hindrance to strengthening democracy.Money is needed for democracy because much of its political activity simply could not occur without it. However, when discussing its costs and benefits one should know that the misuse of money in politics can create some major problems for a political regime. Vote buying denies a society the democratic principle of transparency and accountability because vote buyers are under no obligation to serve the masses interest. It discovered and argued that money Nigeria politics ’being an acceptable means of electoral financing, shifted to mild vote buying in the year 1960s during the second republic and later become pervasive and more widespread; especially since 1999. The article concludes with recommendation of reforms, political education to the civil society and enforcement of election laws.

It is well known that the armed conflict in Nepal is leading to serious threats in the lives of women and girls. They face various kinds of violence, discrimination and exploitation not only during the armed conflict but also during the post conflict and transition period. The trafficking of women and girls from Nepal to India and other likelihood the Gulf States remain high. The conflict of Nepal has increased the number of women working as prostitutes in Kathmandu and other area and this leads cross-border trafficking. The paper aims to find out the reasons responsible for women and girl child trafficking in Nepal during Maoist insurgency (1996-2007) and post-conflict situation as well. The present paper analyzes that how armed conflict negatively affect the lives of women in Nepal and also analyzes the impact of laws and polices instigated by the government of Nepal to combat human trafficking and lastly this paper gives some suggestions to combat Human Trafficking in Nepal.
