Detection of pathogenic bacteria using immunofiltration and lightscribe technology 应用免疫滤过和光转录技术检测病原菌

The detection of pathogenic bacteria is key for the identification and prevention and of problems related to health and safety. Accurate and quick detection and quantification of pathogen microorganisms in food, drinking water and in clinical diagnostics using cost-effective methodologies are greatest challenges currently facing food industry, health and environmental fields. A rapid and sensitive biosensor, based on immunological methods, was developed for bacteria detection using LightScribe disc as platform. We are able to detect between 0 and 106 CFU/mL in only 1.5 hours without the need for sample pre-concentration. The cross-reactivity study and individual ready-to-eat meat samples were inoculated with live bacteria to demonstrate proof-of-concept for real samples.

Breath measurement sensor based on detection of carbon dioxide 基于二氧化碳检测的呼吸测量传感器

A non-invasive breath sensor that allows a continuous measurement of person's breathing, while they are making a physical effort is the target of this work. This work achieved the design, implementation and evaluation of a sensor for breathing measurement. After testing the sensor, we observed that it has a response in the presence of the CO2. This response was proportional to the quantity of the CO2 that was injected to the sensor. The acquisition data array was good for a testing process.

Electronic transport calculation for a selective gas sensor based on an InAs/InP triple-barrier heterostructure 基于InAs/InP三势垒异质结构的选择性气体传感器电子输运计算

In this paper we present the results of electronic transport calculations of an InAs/InP triple-barrier heterostructure that can be used as a gas sensor to recognize the vibrations of odorant molecules at room temperature. We modeled the nanostructure using a 1D approach, and calculated the transmission, density of states and the current vs. voltage characteristics using the non-equilibrium Green's function. The plausibility of such device is demonstrated by analyzing the local density of states in the well regions at different voltages, and comparing it to the energies of the vibrational modes of sulfur dioxide. We show that this molecule can be detected by scanning the voltage from 0 to 0.4V.

Offset reduction in a multiple-terminal hall plate using current spinning 用电流纺丝减少多端子霍尔板的偏移量

The present work analyzes a four-terminal Hall-plate device to determine the main sources of error and explain how current-spinning technique can be used to effectively reduce offset and noise. Based on this analysis, an improved magnetic sensor is designed using an eight terminal octagonal Hall plate and a chopped-based control circuit to implement the current-spinning technique. Since Hall plates are complete compatible with the CMOS manufacturing process, a monolithic chip which contains the sensor, switches, digital control and bias circuit were fabricated using a 0.6 μm commercial CMOS process. These devices are used to test the offset cancellation methodology and compare if there are advantages related to the device orientation or switching sequence. Experimental results show a residual offset of 0.25 mT, a 99% reduction compared with the original offset level measured at Hall plate.

Design of an angled ultrasonic transducer for blood flow measurement applications 用于血流测量应用的角度超声换能器的设计

This paper describes the design and construction of an angled ultrasonic transducer for blood flow measurement. The transducer was constructed using as sensing element, a commercial 8 MHz PIC255 piezoceramic, Insulcast 501 and Rexolite 4422 as backing and matching layer materials respectively. The objective of this work was to design and construct a single element transducer for pulsed wave Doppler blood flow measurement, with an angle of 60° resonating at approximately 8 MHz. Results show that the overall performance of the transducer fulfils the requirements of its design and it is possible to use it for blood flow measurement applications.

Development of a low-cost packaging for MEMS pressure sensors MEMS压力传感器低成本封装的开发

Considerable research efforts have been devoted to the development of MEMS sensor packaging based on different material types (ceramic, plastic and metal). In this work, we describe the design, fabrication and test of a metal packaging with high reliability and low cost. The novelty of our research is on the packaging assembly by mechanical interference replacing the expensive plasma welding process that is used commonly in the development of traditional metal packaging.

Charge storage and retention in electret dielectric layers for energy harvesting applications 能量收集应用中驻极体介电层的电荷储存和保持

By providing a permanent electric polarization, electrets have a wide range of applications in different fields like sensors and actuators, energy harvesting or biomedicine. Stable electrets with silicon-based compatible technology are particularly pursued. In this work, different dielectric layer stacks, including SiO2, Si3N4, AL2O3 and AlN, are evaluated in terms of charge storage and retention. The corona charging characteristics are analyzed and local micro-breakdowns of the dielectric layers are observed for critical electric fields in the range of 6-7 MV/cm. A hexamethyldisilazane (HMDS) surface treatment is confirmed to provide an effective protection for electret charge retention. Unfortunately for potential applications involving liquids, the charge is found to vanish after electret surface soaking with either deionized water or ethanol. In principle, deeper charge storage in the electret dielectric layers could be achieved by using an alternative method based on charge injection by means of a direct contact. The results of first attempts with such alternative technique are also reported.

Microwave impedance microscopy of high specific surface area carbon 高比表面积碳的微波阻抗显微镜

Microwave impedance microscopy (MIM) is a novel scanning probe technique used to measure local electrical impedance under an AFM tip operating at some fixed electrical resonant frequency. Each point in the surface scan records sample elevation and power return loss, thus generating a topographical image with an overlaid impedance map. Various high specific surface area (SSA) carbon materials, recently demonstrated to have excellent performance as electrochemical capacitor electrodes, were investigated via MIM. Results of MIM studies on these materials may be used to provide additional understanding of transport properties and complement conventional methods of surface area measurement.

Effects of CQI feedback for LTE networks CQI反馈对LTE网络的影响

The main aim of this research is to find out the technical causes of the degradation of LTE (Long Term Evolution) service using the band of 700MHz with the simulator ns-3. We analyze how the QoS (Quality of Service) parameters change when more devices are aggregated to the base station and the scheduler allocates radio resources for each user. In this scenario, the QoS depends on the type of CQI Feedback (Channel Quality Indicator) configured to estimate the physical channel. The QoS can be modified according to the QCI (QoS Class Identifier), that identifies each transmission per TTI (Transmit Time Interval), but also the different CQI feedback types can cause the degradation of the performance for some services.
