Introduction: Work activities are an important part of the scenario and the daily life of each individual, which is why people spend a large amount of time in those organizations where they work. However, risk factors may be present in the working environment, posing a health hazard for workers. Adverse working conditions and job insecurity at the health sector level have been evidenced, both for nursing professionals and doctors, marked by a high emotional and labor load. Objective: To analyze the working conditions of doctors and nurses in public hospitals in Chile. Material and Method: An analytical cross-sectional study was carried out with 375 doctors and nurses. A database was designed, where sociodemographic, labor, health self-perception and the Work Condition Scale were collected. Spearman’s rho and mean difference tests were used in the analysis. Results: Working conditions were perceived as good by nurses and regular by doctors. Nursing professionals presented significantly higher scores on the material environment, personal organization adjustment and personal organization adaptation dimensions scale than those of the doctors. In the social environment and method of development, higher scores were significantly presented by doctors. A tendency to increase the score of the working conditions was as well observed, as the perception of general health improves. Conclusions: Doctors and nurses have different perceptions of their own working conditions and dimensions. The self-perceived health of these professionals is also related to their working conditions. Med Segur Trab (Internet). 2019;66(259):69-80

Introduction: The objective of this study was to describe the feeding conditions in the workplace of operators of a commercial food service in Medellín, as well as its relationship with nutritional status and working conditions. Methodology: Descriptive case study with a mixed approach, with 59 food handlers, where semistructured interviews, non-participant observation, nutritional screening and food consumption surveys were used during working hours. The statistical analysis was performed in SPSS-24 and the qualitative analysis by axial categorization. Results: The employees of the service consume two meals in the workplace, one of them supplied by the employer, they have a dining room, and they have hot drinks and water for free consumption. 62.87% are overweight and obese by BMI, and 77.1% by body fat percentage. Their working hours are from 10 to 12 hours, so they have little physical activity and spend a lot of time standing in tight spaces. They have low consumption of fruits and vegetables, high consumption of carbohydrates and some report consumption of liquor and cigarettes in their free time, all of which constitute greater risks for the development of chronic diseases and decrease in labor productivity. Conclusions: Food handlers present an altered nutritional state, because of the alimentary practices in which they are immersed by the work dynamics in the Food Service. Med Segur Trab(互联网)。

From the 12,245 breast cancer withdrawal processes which began in Spain during 2018, 9,336 reached 365 days long and 2,201 workers were considered permanently disabled to work. 76% of the initial casualties for breast cancer had reached or exceed 365 days and of these long-term sick leave 18% would have become permanently disabled. Breast cancer in women of „working age“ has a survival prognosis rate of 86%, but only 53% return to work effectively compared to 47% who will not continue working. This may be either due to a declaration of permanent disability, or due to withdrawal as not being able to give up on the job, or because of dismissal in relation to the loss of abilities, if not for having gone into unemployment during the sick leave. Material and Method: Bibliographic review in Pubmed, Medline and Scielo until May 2019. Study of processes of temporary disability due to breast cancer in 2018; analysis of 408 breast cancer processes of disability duration of more than 365 days, with occupational medical discharge and sequel assessment; comparison with the previous study of Temporary Disability in 2015. Conclusions: Breast cancer presents a high risk of social and occupational exclusion. Measures are needed to ease the effective return of work, recognizing the “survived aptitude” of the breast cancer survivor, who is returning to work. Addressing psychosocial factors, avoiding controversy between medical discharge to work and non-work skills, encouraging companies to adopt organizational reintegration measures, carrying out the Disability Map to know the disabling work impact and assessing the disability as an indicator of return to work and public health at work is therefore necessary for achieving a progressive return to work. Med Segur Trab (Internet). 2020;66(258):47-62
Med Segur Trab (Internet)。2020, 66 (258): 47 - 62
