This study assessed the effect of strategic response capability on firm competitiveness of selected paint manufacturers in Lagos State, Nigeria, more so, it ascertained the moderating effect of Omoluabi leadership on the interaction between strategic response capability and firm competitiveness. The study adopted a cross-sectional survey design and a sample of 343 employees of eighteen selected paint manufacturers in Lagos State, Nigeria. A hierarchical regression analysis to test three-way interaction hypotheses was conducted. The results showed that strategic response capability had a positive and significant effect on firm competitiveness (R2 = 0.46.3, F (1,341) 294.165, p= .000). Further analysis showed that the interaction term of strategic response capability and Omoluabi leadership explained the increase in firms’ competitiveness (ΔR2 =0.039, p=0.000) with the introduction of Omoluabi leadership as a moderator. The study through its findings established that strategic response capability enhances firm competitiveness through the deployment of Omoluabi leadership. Hence, this study recommends that firms should strengthen their strategic response capability and encourages leadership to imbibe the philosophy of Omoluabi leadership this is because such a leadership attribute potentially improves firm competitiveness.

Purpose – This paper investigates the impact that High-Performance Work Systems (HPWS) have on Employee Engagement and the moderating effect of Organizational Justice on this relationship. Research methodology – By the usage of a quantitative research method, data gathered from 251 employees of Professional Service firms are analysed with SPSS. Findings – This study found that there is a positive relationship between HPWS and Employee Engagement. It also found that Organizational Justice moderates the relationship between the two. Research limitations – Data was only gathered at the employee level making the interpretation of HPWS to be how employees perceive it. Hence a further study at the firm level as well as cross-sectional analyses will be needed in the future. Practical implications – Management of firms should avoid a ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach in the administration of HR policies and should rather encourage tailor-made treatment for individual employees of the firm. Unfairness is encouraged if the firm is after employee engagement. Originality/Value – This study is one of the first to investigate the moderating effect of organizational justice on the relationship between HPWS and employee engagement and the first to advice firm managers to be unfair in their dealings with individual employees

New technologies are a catalyst for education. Technology unlocks educational boundaries, motivates students, improves students' writing and learning skills, promotes individual learning. This sector has become an educational priority and all EU countries are striving to develop ICT skills. Technology is part of the world we live in. Most jobs today require the use of technology. For this reason, the focus is on developing a set of knowledge, skills, attitudes, necessary for access to the labor market, social inclusion, personal development and lifelong learning. The knowledge society has imposed the use of ICT as a necessary condition for the integration of the individual in the labor market and in society. The present paper attempts to provide an overview of the impact that technology has on pupils and teachers in Romanian schools.

Even though the relevance of corruption is very high in all fields of activity, the specialized literature in the field of public procurement has paid very little or even no attention to this crucial phenomenon. The field of public procurement presents a high risk of corruption, the evidence being the large number of high-level corruption cases in several Member States of the European Union. The study presents the specialized literature related to corruption in public procurement in the European Union and United States of America, analyzes the level of corruption in public procurement in Romania, the causes that generate corruption and the main measures to combat it. The article also presents the results of a survey realized among the purchasers from Romania which addresses the main elements of corruption in the field of public procurement. The survey analyzes issues related to corruption in public procurement in Romania, such as: level of corruption, control over corruption, frequency of occurrence of corruption acts, procurement procedures most prone to corruption, characteristics of the procurement procedures that favors the occurrence of corruption, most widespread way of manifesting corruption, most important consequence of corruption, percentage of increasing contract costs due to corruption, most effective anti-corruption measure.

This paper aims to challenge the conventional wisdom in finance by studying the success factors of the development of unicorn companies as the most successful and fastest-growing start-ups/ established firms. Romania is now on the map of the International Unicorn Club, with two young Unicorns in technology, since 2018. The purpose of the paper is to analyze mergers and acquisitions and companies valued more than $1B. The research questions to be answered are: What is the value of control in mergers and acquisitions? Why the initial estimates of a company’s value can be very wrong? The market approach in this research allows the readers understand the context of the phenomena analyzed and the information on comparable transactions. The work to be discussed in the paper is the importance of choosing one valuable objective of the company, in the context of the theory of the value maximization as the single important objective of a company. The model of enterprise value for listed companies should encompass a market variable, such as the value of financing a sector gets and the ownership (control) variable

Differential quality in services rendered by hotels at different occasions have left many customers unhappy and also not wanting to return to such hotels again. Since employees’ performances translate to that of the firm, this study therefore sought to examine the effect of employees’ competence on performance of selected hotels in Keffi. Five (5) hotels were purposively selected and a questionnaire were issued to a total of one hundred and five (105) employees of selected hotels. Date were analyzed using correlation and simple regression analysis with the aid of STATA13 software. The study found a positive relationship between competence and firms’ performance. Also, the study found employees’ competence to have positive and significant effect on performance of selected hotels and hence the study recommended that management of hotels should adopt the on-the-job training and also job rotation training methods so as to equip employees with required competence to perform at whichever unit they may find themselves.

Modern type of business organizations was started in Ethiopian before hundred years ago and the number is tremendously increasing nowadays. However, there was no one set of generally accepted accounting standard used by business organization in the country till December 2014 when IFRS was proclaimed as the law of the land. Though IFRS was accepted for financial reporting in the country starting from 2014, the level of preparedness in teaching IFRS in Ethiopian universities was not studied. This paper is aimed at identifying problems in teaching IFRS among teachers in Ethiopia universities. To achieve this objective, data was collected from 46 academic staffs working in six universities in the country. The study found that teachers in relatively old universities are trying to incorporate IFRS in their course plan as compared to those in recently established universities. Generally, the level of preparedness to incorporate IFRS is low in majority of the universities under study. Lack of text books in line with IFRS, problem of integrating IFRS in to the curriculum and lack of practical experiences are the top three bottle necks that hinder teaching IFRS in our universities. In order to prepare our staffs to teach in line with IFRS, both short and long term capacity building strategies were recommended in this study.

The information technology (IT) sector represents a phenomenon of modern society, which has led to a favorable change in the economic course, in most countries of the world. This study aims to establish the attractiveness of the IT industry in Romania, as well as the factors that led to the development of the competitive environment, through a strategic diagnosis using a tool for strategic analysis and diagnosis - the model of the five forces, developed by Michael Porter. The results of the study indicate that all five strengths of Michael Porter's model exert significant influence, but in different proportions, on the competitive environment and the degree of attractiveness of the IT industry. Although Porter's model offers a clear strategic frame of the IT industry, it is quite static, and the manifestation of the five forces does not maintain its validity over time.

Employee wellness is one of the key and most essential antecedents to employee and organizational performance. Organisational performance heavily depends on the health and wellness of employees and their attitude towards their work. The study explored the relationship between wellness programs and job satisfaction for workers in armed conflict societies. The study focused on one wellness program; that is the establishment of organizational onsite health centers. A quantitative research methodology was employed to carry out the study. A questionnaire was used to solicit data from 50 people who witnessed or directly or indirectly participated in the war of liberation in Zimbabwe and the civil war in Mozambique. Descriptive statistics was used to analyze the collected data. The study established that there is a strong relationship between the establishment of onsite health centers and job satisfaction. All the major services of health clinics such as provision of health services to the injured during the war, provision of counseling services, provision of physical fitness programs and provision of ill-health prevention services showed a strong relationship with job satisfaction. It was recommended that all organizations operating in armed conflict societies should establish health centers within their premises to provide health services to the physically and emotionally injured employees.
