DETECTION AND IDENTIFICATION OF NEMATODE WORM EGGS IN LAYING HENS AT HASNA FARM, WAJO REGENCY AND ANDI MUKTI FARM, PINRANG REGENCY, SOUTH SULAWESI 检测和鉴定南苏拉威西省瓦佐县哈斯纳农场和宾朗县安迪穆克蒂农场蛋鸡体内的线虫虫卵

Laying chickens are a type of poultry that has the potential to produce quite large eggs in Indonesia. One of the pathogens that often attacks laying hens is nematode worms which can cause economic losses for farmers. This research aims to detect and identify the presence of nematode worm eggs that infect laying hens on the Hasna farm, Wajo Regency and the Andi Mukti farm, Pinrang Regency. The research was carried out at the Maros Veterinary Center Laboratory and the Integrated Veterinary Laboratory at Hasanuddin University. The samples used in this research were 48 feces taken from each farm from laying hens. Samples were examined using three test methods, namely native test, floating method and sedimentation method. The results obtained were that on Hasna's farm there were 7 individuals that were detected positive for nematodes, of which there were 3 types of worm eggs, namely Ascaridia galli, Heterakis gallinarum and Strongyloides sp and 12 animals on the Andi Mukti farm were detected positive for nematodes, where there were 2 types of worm eggs, namely Ascaridia galli and Heterakis gallinarum. Based on this research, there was nematode worm infection on Hasna and Andi Mukti's farms.

PROFIL SEROTONIN ANJING KINTAMANI PADA PERILAKU GUNA, JAYA, PAKSA, TEK, KYUL (KEYAKINAN LOKAL) MASYARAKAT BALI 巴巴里人对有用、JAYA、forcing、TEK、KYUL等行为的清素档案

There is a belief in Bali which is the local wisdom of the Balinese people that the character of dogs is divided into guna, jaya, paksa, tek and kyul. Guna is a dog with an obedient character, useful and suitable as a hunting dog. Jaya is a dog with an attractive character, energetic, tends to be hyperactive. This type of dog is also good for hunting and paksa is a dog that is difficult to manage. This dog is suitable for house keeping. Tek is a dog with dirty behavior and is difficult to train or manage and kyul is a dog with a lazy character. The results showed that the character or nature of dogs is related to serotonin compounds in the blood. Aggressive dogs such as jaya and paksa have a low serotonin level profile. The purpose of this study was to determine the serotonin profile of different characters according to the beliefs of the Balinese people towards Kintamani dogs. A total of 30 Kintamani dogs were used as experimental animals. The research design used a cross-sectional study design. The results of the serotonin profile showed that the dogs with the characteristics of guna, jaya, paksa, tek and kyul were 114.4 ± 24.51; 98.5±28.47; 269.9±87.8; 316.6±54.8 and 256±15.1 (mmol/dl). It was concluded that the profile of the Kintamani dog according to the local belief of the Balinese people has normal serotonin levels.

THE EFFECT OF ADDING VARIOUS TYPES OF ANTIOXIDANT MATERIALS ON THE MOTILITY AND VIABILITY OF BULL SEMEN: A LITERATURE RIVIEW 添加各类抗氧化物质对公牛精液活力和活力的影响:文献综述

The quality of the cement used for Artificial Insemination (AI) influences the success of AI. The quality of frozen semen can be maintained by adding diluents that contain nutrients to maintain the viability of spermatozoa, prevent cold shock during freezing, and maintain the same osmotic pressure and pH as sperm cells. Spermatozoa also require antioxidants to protect against damage due to reactive oxygen species (ROS). This research aims to determine various types of antioxidants on the motility and viability of spermatozoa from cow semen. The method we use is a literature study which summarizes several pieces of literature whose library sources come from journals and articles searched via Google Scholar. Library sources are selected based on their correlation with the title of the literature study being reviewed. The research results show that the use of green tea antioxidants which contain EGCG, virgin coconut oil and commercial vitamin E which contains tocopherol, genistein with isoflavone content, fish oil with omega 3 content can inhibit lipid peroxidation and provide cell protection against oxidative damage from ROS. The results of the previous literature study certainly still require a lot of development. Therefore, further testing can be carried out to check the accuracy of the research data.

Analisis Limbah Sapi yang Berpotensi Mencemari Lingkungan dan Menularkan Penyakit pada Masyarakat 对潜在污染环境和传播疾病的牛废物的分析

Limbah peternakan sapi merupakan suatu sumber pencemaran lingkungan dan sumber penularan penyakit pada masyarakat. Munculnya pencemaran lingkungan dari suatu peternakan lebih banyak disebabkan karena limbah peternakan tidak ditangani dengan baik. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis unsur pencemar dan potensi penyebaran penyakit ke masyarakat. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode observasional dan purposive sampling yaitu sampel diambil dari  empat kelompok ternak sapi tradisional Gianyar Selatan. Sebanyak satu liter sampel limbah diambil dari masing masing kelompok yang berbeda kemudian di bawa ke Laboratorium Kesmavet, Fakultas Kedokteran Hewan Universitas Udayana untuk dianalisis. Kandungan Total Suspended Solid (TSS), Ammonia, Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD), Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), and Coliform with E. coli masing-masing dianalisis sesuai parameter uji menggunakan metode Gravimetric, Spectrophotometer, Winkler, titration-spectrophotometer, dan most probable number (MPN). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nilai TSS adalah 26,75 mg/L, amoniak 7,86 mg/L, BOD5 171,817 mg/L, COD 605,675 mg/L, pH 8,075, Coliform 22 jt/100ml, dan kuman E. coli 20 juta/100ml.  Disimpulkan bahwa limbah sapi pada penelitian ini sangat berpotensi mencemari lingkungan dan membahayakan kesehatan masyarakat karena mengandung zat zat kimia dan bakteri yang melampaui baku mutu yaitu parameter BOD5, COD, Coliform, dan E. coli. Dianjurkan untuk menangani limbah peternakan sapi dengan baik sesuai pedoman peternakan yang sehat untuk mengurangi pencemaran lingkungan dan ancaman kesehatan masyarakat.

THE EFFECT OF NEEM GUM ON THE REDUCTION IN RAT BLOOD GLUCOSE LEVELS INDUCED BY STREPTOZOTOCIN 印楝胶对链脲佐菌素诱导的大鼠血糖水平降低的影响

Pharmacological therapy for diabetes, which is primarily made up of chemicals, still causes a lot of side effects. The numerous side effects of pharmacological therapy for diabetes have generated innovations in alternative diabetes therapies using ingredients derived from nature. One of the natural ingredients with an anti-hyperglycemia effect is neem gum (NG), or the sap of the neem plant (Azadirachta indica). The aim of this study was to determine the effect of NG on the reduction of blood glucose levels. Moreover, this study had six groups, including a normal control group and groups with doses of 0, 3.75, 7.5, 15, and 30 grams/kgBW. The results showed that NG reduced blood glucose levels in diabetic rats. The paired t-test showed a significant reduction in blood glucose in all groups administered NG except for the dose 3.75 group (P<0.05). The minimum and maximum effective doses of NG were calculated using the quadratic regression test with the equation y = 1.059x2–46.576x+408. With a target blood glucose level of between 80 and 126 mg/dL, the minimum and maximum effective doses of NG were obtained in the range of 12–15 mg/dL. This study concluded that administering NG to diabetic rats can reduce blood glucose levels. Phytochemical studies and research are needed with serial examinations using the effective dose range of neem gum.

The aim of this study was to determine the effect of NG on the reduction of blood glucose levels. Moreover, this study had six groups, including a normal control group and groups with doses of 0, 3.75, 7.5, 15, and 30 grams/kgBW. The results showed that NG reduced blood glucose levels in diabetic rats. The paired t-test showed a significant reduction in blood glucose in all groups administered NG except for the dose 3.75 group (P<0.05). The minimum and maximum effective doses of NG were calculated using the quadratic regression test with the equation y = 1.059x2–46.576x+408. With a target blood glucose level of between 80 and 126 mg/dL, the minimum and maximum effective doses of NG were obtained in the range of 12–15 mg/dL. This study concluded that administering NG to diabetic rats can reduce blood glucose levels. Vaksin DNA telah menjadi bidang penelitian yang menarik dalam upaya melawan penyakit infeksius pada hewan. Vaksin DNA adalah formulasi vaksin yang menggunakan fragmen DNA sebagai antigen. DNA pada vaksin mengandung informasi genetik yang diambil dari agen penyakit, seperti virus atau bakteri, yang ingin ditargetkan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan vaksin DNA pada hewan dan manusia. Metode penelitian menggunakan klon plasmid DNA dengan gen nukleoprotein virus Covid-19 yang ditransformasikan pada bakteri E. coli stellar. Pengujian titer antibodi vaksin pada mencit dilakukan dengan uji Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Hasil penelitian menunukkan klon plasmid DNA dengan gen nukleoprotein virus SARS-Cov-2 dapat dikembangkan dan dibuktikan. Pemberian klon plasmid DNA dengan gen nukleoprotein pada mencit dapat menginduksi terbentuknya antibodi spesifik terhadap nukleoprotein virus SARS-Cov-2. Pemberian plasmid rekombinan pcDNA-Nukleoprotein terbukti menginduksi terbentuknya antibodi terhadap nukleoprotein yang meningkat dari minggu ke-1 sampai minggu ke-4 dan ke-5 yang kemudian menurun pada minggu ke 6 pasca vaksinasi.

Seroprevalensi dan Faktor Risiko Brucelosis pada Sapi di Kabupaten Polewali Mandar, Sulawesi Barat 西苏拉威西省普通话污染胶囊中Sapi的血清流行率和布鲁氏菌病危险因素

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui seroprevalensi brucellosis pada sapi di Kabupaten Polewali Mandar, Sulawesi Barat, mengetahui peta penyebarannya, serta mengetahui faktor risiko yang berasosiasi terhadap kejadian dan penyebaran brucellosis di di Kabupaten Polewali Mandar, Sulawesi Barat. Penelitian dilakukan dengan mengambil sampel serum sapi yang dipelihara oleh peternak di Kabupaten Polewali Mandar, Sulawesi Barat, lalu diperiksa menggunakan uji Rose Bengal Test (RBT) yang dikonfirmasi dengan uji Complement Fixation Test (CFT). Faktor resiko kejadian brucellosis pada sapi dipelajari dengan menganalisis hubungan kejadian brucellosis pada sapi dan beberapa data yang diperoleh dari hasil kuesioner yang disebar ke pemilik sapi. Berdasarkan hasil uji RBT dan CFT yang dilakukan, ditemukan 15,17% (22/145) serum terdeteksi brucellosis.  Dengan demikian, seroprevalensi brucellosis pada sapi di Kabupaten Polewali Mandar, Sulawesi Barat adalah 15,17% secara point prevalence. Kejadian brucellosis tersebut menyebar di 6 (enam) kecamatan, yaitu Kecamatan Balanipa dengan prevalensi 18,75%; Campalagian 7,5%; Luyo 25,53%; Mapilli 50%, Mapilli Barat 100% dan Polewali 25% sesuai dengan perhitungan jumlah sampel positif yang dibagi dengan total sampel pada setiap kecamatan yang diambil sampelnya. Faktor risiko yang berasosiasi terhadap kejadian brucellosis di Kabupaten Polewali Mandar yang utama adalah status keguguran yang memiliki odds-ratio (OR) sebesar 1220, lalu lintas ternak memiliki OR sebesar 17,333, dan penggunaan air minum untuk ternak memiliki OR sebesar 9.343. Faktor resiko lainnya adalah teknik perkawinan dan jenis kelamin memiliki OR: 8.022 dan 4.053. Sebagai saran dari hasil penelitian ini adalah perlu dilakukan pengujian dan pemotongan bersyarat serta langkah vaksinasi untuk pencegahan dan pengendalian brucellosis. Sedangkan untuk tindakan kontrol dan pengendalian brucellosis di wilayah terinfeksi, perlu upaya peningkatan kesadaran masyarakat akan kesehatan lingkungan, investigasi terhadap kasus keguguran pada sapi dengan konfirmasi laboratorium, pengawasan terhadap lalu lintas ternak, dan pelaksanaan surveilans serologi secara berkala. Penelitian lebih lanjut perlu dilakukan untuk mengetahui seroprevalensi, penyebaran, dan faktor resiko brucellosis di semua kabupaten di Sulawesi Barat.

There is yet to be collected the number of cats in Indonesia, including free- roaming cats. Studies have shown that there is a connection between sterilization and free-roaming cats’ health and welfare. In 2021, Suara Suaka Indonesia decided to hold a small-scale sterilization program in a neighborhood called Karangwuni, Yogyakarta to contribute in lowering cat population. In this case study, we focus on the effect of sterilization to cats that are perceived by humans. Survey was done using Google Forms, taking information on their demographics, involvement with Suara Suaka Indonesia, feedback on their cats’ post-surgery changes and their understanding on sterilization. Respondents are generally satisfied with the impact sterilization has on them and their cats, this is supported by how they perceive sterilization as important and their willingness to recommend the procedure to other people. However, there can still be improvement on delivering messages of sterilization to ensure that the purpose, process, and impact of sterilization can be adequately understood by all participants of the program.

Humane education is an educational program that does not only focus on supporting the animal’s well-being but also generally gives positive impacts on children’s character development. Characters were born from the process of learning and habit practices that were carried out at early age. Therefore, character education should be taught early. Positive character development in children, for example, empathy and compassion, will contribute to the emergence of prosocial behavior. This could become preventive action or solution to anticipate the increasing violence trend that is directed either to humans, animals or, the environment.

Every year, billions of animals are slaughtered on industrial agricultures and animals whose status does not include under the category of protected animals and stray dogs or cats are subjected to various kinds of abusive behavior by human as a result of the moral exclusion of animals of certain species. The idea of speciesism and anthropocentrism causes suffering on a massive scale that people may find hard to fathom. This paper discusses the definition of speciesism, anthropocentrism and its impact on advocacy for farm animals, stray animals and wild animals that are not protected by law, which begins with an explanation of how animals stand before the law and how society practices the concept of speciesism and anthropocentrism which has an impact on animal welfare. Then, identify how speciesism and anthropocentrism affects the protection of animals classified in certain species as a result of unfavorable protection or treatment for the animals. The position of animals that are still categorized as property by the law makes it difficult to apply animal protection for certain species of animals and for them who do not have owners. This condition occurs because the definitions of animals included in various existing laws are not in line with the clauses in the articles that should protect certain animal species as stated in the definitions in the regulations. In addition, there is a strong belief that certain species of animals such as the wildlife animals which are legally protected, companion animals (i.e. dogs and cats) and animals whose owned by people are more deserving of protection than other animal species and for non-owned animals. At the end of writing, this paper examines how the concepts of speciesism and anthropocentrism, which are unfavorable treatment or consideration towards those who are not categorized as the human and towards certain animal species which often become victims of speciesist and anthropocentric ideas have an impact on animal law protection.

The idea of speciesism and anthropocentrism causes suffering on a massive scale that people may find hard to fathom. This paper discusses the definition of speciesism, anthropocentrism and its impact on advocacy for farm animals, stray animals and wild animals that are not protected by law, which begins with an explanation of how animals stand before the law and how society practices the concept of speciesism and anthropocentrism which has an impact on animal welfare. Then, identify how speciesism and anthropocentrism affects the protection of animals classified in certain species as a result of unfavorable protection or treatment for the animals. The position of animals that are still categorized as property by the law makes it difficult to apply animal protection for certain species of animals and for them who do not have owners. This condition occurs because the definitions of animals included in various existing laws are not in line with the clauses in the articles that should protect certain animal species as stated in the definitions in the regulations. In addition, there is a strong belief that certain species of animals such as the wildlife animals which are legally protected, companion animals (i.e. dogs and cats) and animals whose owned by people are more deserving of protection than other animal species and for non-owned animals.
