COCCIDIOSIS IN BROILER CHICKEN AGED 26 DAYS FROM A FARM IN BANJARANGKAN, KLUNGKUNG, BALI 巴厘岛克隆贡市班贾朗干一家农场 26 日龄肉鸡的球虫病

The object of this case study is a broiler chicken from a farm located in Banjarangkan District, Klungkung Regency, Bali. This broiler chicken is 26 days old which was reported to have had diarrhea mixed with blood for 5 days. This chicken also experience weakness, pale wattles, and separate itself in the corner of the shed. This case study aims to discuss the anatomical pathology, histopathology, and laboratory examination results to obtain a definitive diagnosis of the disease that attacked this chicken. Data collection in the form of indications, anamnesis, epidemiology, with parasite examination were carried out for further descriptive qualitative analysis. Necropsy after the animal died showed bleeding, and necrosis of the cecum accompanied by enlargement from cecum to colon. Petechiae bleeding were also observed along the small intestine. Histopathological observations showed necrosis in the mucosa of the cecum and small intestine accompanied by bleeding, inflammatory cell infiltration, and clusters of Eimeria spp. with different life stages. Changes also occur in the colon where necrosis of mucosa and proliferation of Lieberkhun crypts were observed. Schizonts of Eimeria spp. were found in qualitative fecal examinations. Based on all data and laboratory examination results of this chicken, it was concluded that the chicken was infected with coccidiosis.

THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN COFFEE CONSUMPTION AND SLEEP QUALITY WITH THE INCIDENCE OF ACNE VULGARIS 喝咖啡和睡眠质量与寻常痤疮发病率的关系

Acne vulgaris, or acne, was a common skin problem that occurred in adolescents and young adults, and had a significant psychological impact, especially on individual self-confidence. The high prevalence of this issue, along with factors such as dietary patterns, sleep habits, and coffee consumption, led to a need for deeper understanding of its relationship with skin conditions. This study aimed to evaluate the association between coffee consumption and sleep quality with the occurrence of acne vulgaris. The research method used a quantitative approach with a survey design and descriptive correlational method in a cross-sectional research approach. The instruments included a coffee consumption questionnaire with a Cronbach’s alpha value of 0.707 and a PSQI (Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index) questionnaire with a Cronbach’s alpha value of 0.888. The study sample consisted of students from Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia Kampus Sumedang who experienced acne problems, frequently consumed coffee, and had insufficient sleep hours. Data collection was conducted through questionnaires that covered information about coffee consumption patterns and types of coffee consumed, as well as sleep patterns. The research results indicated that there was no significant relationship between coffee consumption and the occurrence of acne vulgaris, with a p-value of 0.106 (>0.05). However, there was a significant association between sleep quality and the occurrence of acne vulgaris, with a p-value less than 0.001. The conclusion from this study was that coffee did not directly impact the growth of acne, but poor sleep quality could directly affect acne occurrence. Further research is expected to explore other factors that may cause acne vulgaris.

THE EFFECT OF MIMOSINE FROM SIMPLICIA OF THE LAMTORO LEAF ON THE HISTOPATOLOGICAL OF WHITE RATS’ TESTIS 林托罗叶中的含羞草碱对白鼠睾丸组织病理学的影响

Lamtoro leaves (Leucaena leucocephala) are often used as cattle feed. Lamtoro leaf feeding causes decrease in sperm concentration, in diameter of the seminiferous tubules, impaired spermatogenesis, cell degeneration and atrophy. This research aims to determine the histopathology of the testes of white rat given mimosine at different doses. This research uses 20 of 2 months old male Wistar strain white rat with 300-350 g body weight. This research used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments, which is P0 (negative control), P1 (positive control) is given mimosine standard 5 mg/day/head, P2 is given lamtoro leaf simplicia 50 mg/day/head and P3 is given leaf simplicia lamtoro 150 mg/day/head. Treatment was given for 14 days orally and on the 15th day a necropsy of testicular organ was taken. Histopathological examination was carried out based on the presence of congestion and necrosis lesions in the seminiferous tubules. Data from testicular histopathological examination results were scored based on severity consisting of, 0 = no lesions; 1= mild lesion (focal); 2= moderate lesion (multifocal); 3 = severe (diffuse), then analyzed with the Kruskal-Wallis and Mann-Whitney tests. The results of the study showed that administration of mimosine from lamtoro leaf simplisia could cause congestion and necrosis compared to control and treatment. Administration of mimosine dose 5 mg/day/ head (P1) causes congestion and necrosis while administration of mimosine from lamtoro leaf simplicia dose 50 mg / head / day (P3) does not cause lesions and dose 150 mg/day/ head (P2) causes congestion in the testicles.

IMPLEMENTATION OF ANIMAL WELFARE PRACTICES AMONG LAYER FARMERS IN PUHU AND PERING VILLAGES IN GIANYAR REGENCY 吉尼亚尔省普湖村和佩林村蛋鸡养殖户实施动物福利措施的情况

Laying hens are chickens that are raised with the aim of producing eggs with high productivity. In order to maximize the productivity of laying hens, many farmers use a battery cage system. Battery cages actually implement poor welfare due to extreme confinement and restrictions on chicken behavior. This study aims to determine the application of animal welfare on layer farms in two villages with different altitudes. Pering village located in lowland and Puhu village located in highland. The data collection method used a questionnaire by conducting interviews with layer farmers. Data were analysed descriptive quantitatively and Mann Whitney comparison test was conducted to compare data between sampling villages. The results of the analysis showed that there were significant differences in the application of the concept of freedom from discomfort and the application of the concept of freedom to express natural behavior. It can be concluded that there is a significant difference in the application of the five freedom principles between the two villages. The researcher suggested to the farmers in Puhu village to start trying the free cage method which in principle is more prosperous for the chickens.

HISTOPATHOLOGICAL PICTURE OF WHITE RATS LIVER DUE TO THE ADMINISTRATION OF MIMOSIN FROM SIMPLISIA LEUCAENA LEAF 白鼠肝脏的组织病理学图谱--因服用白花蛇舌草叶中的含羞草素所致

Leucaena leaves (Leucaena leucocephala) are widely used as cattle feed because they contain high protein, flavonoids, tannins and other beneficial substances. In addition to containing good animal feed ingredients, it turns out that leucaena leaves contain toxic ingredients called mimosin. This study aims to study the impact of mimosin on the liver of experimental animals. The study used white rats (Rattus norvegicus) male wistar, aged 2 months with a body weight of 300-350 g, as many as 20 heads divided into 4 treatment groups. The 4 treatment groups were negative control (P0), positive control was given pure mimosin 5 mg/head/day (P1), group was given mimosin from leucaena leaf simplisia 50 mg/head/day (P2), group was given mimosin from leucaena leaf simplisia 150 mg/head/day (P3). Each treatment was given orally for 14 days. On day 15, a necropsy was performed and then the liver was taken and then put into neutral 10% formalin buffer (NBF) for further histopathology using Hematoxylin and Eosin (HE) staining. Histopathological examination is carried out covering five lesion variables, namely fatty degeneration, congestion, bleeding, inflammation, and necrosis. The severity of the lesion was scored, namely score 0 (normal), score 1 (mild), score 2 (medium) and score 3 (severe). The histopathological examination data were then analyzed using the Kruskal-Wallis non-parametic test and the Mann-Withney follow-up test. Based on the results of the study, administration of pure mimosin 5 mg and simplisia of leucaena leaves 50 mg and 150 mg caused histopathological lesions of rat liver (Rattus norvegicus) in the form of fatty degeneration, congestion, bleeding and inflammation that were significant compared to controls, except necrosis lesions. There was no significant lesion difference between mimosin from leucaena leaf simplisia between doses of 50 mg/head/day and 150 mg/head/day. It is necessary to carry out further research on the administration of mimosine in leucaena leaf simplicia at higher doses and given over a longer period, so that the factors of acute and chronic toxicity due to mimosine from leucaena leaves are known.

Each treatment was given orally for 14 days. On day 15, a necropsy was performed and then the liver was taken and then put into neutral 10% formalin buffer (NBF) for further histopathology using Hematoxylin and Eosin (HE) staining. Histopathological examination is carried out covering five lesion variables, namely fatty degeneration, congestion, bleeding, inflammation, and necrosis. The severity of the lesion was scored, namely score 0 (normal), score 1 (mild), score 2 (medium) and score 3 (severe). The histopathological examination data were then analyzed using the Kruskal-Wallis non-parametic test and the Mann-Withney follow-up test. Based on the results of the study, administration of pure mimosin 5 mg and simplisia of leucaena leaves 50 mg and 150 mg caused histopathological lesions of rat liver (Rattus norvegicus) in the form of fatty degeneration, congestion, bleeding and inflammation that were significant compared to controls, except necrosis lesions. There was no significant lesion difference between mimosin from leucaena leaf simplisia between doses of 50 mg/head/day and 150 mg/head/day. Each organ, tissue, or body part of balinese cattle in each phase has a different speed or growth rate. The growth rate of the animal's body can be known based on the growth pattern of each body size. This study aims to determine the growth rate of male balinese cattle during fattening. The research sample used was 20 male balinese cattle from Abdi Pertiwi Livestock Farmer Group, Gerokgak, Buleleng, Bali. This study used purposive sampling method and data collection was done with saturated sampling technique. Measurements were taken once a month with three measurements as replicates for three months. The data obtained were analyzed by power regression with the equation model used is Y = aXb. The results of the power regression analysis showed a significant difference (p<0.05) in each growth rate of body length and height of male balinese cattle. The highest growth rate or has the greatest growth potential is head length, followed by neck length, body length, hip height, and shoulder height. Based on the results obtained, it can be concluded that there are significant differences in the growth rate of body length and height of male balinese cattle during fattening. Further research needs to be conducted on the growth rate of body length and height of male balinese cattle until the time the cattle are slaughtered, so that it can be known with the help of a researcher.

The presence of Salmonella spp. in animal food products is highly undesirable and strictly regulated in Indonesian law. One of the factors that causes contamination is the climate and conditions of the place of sale. This study aims to determine the presence of Salmonella spp. bacteria in broiler meat that sold at Badung Market during the transitional season period. The research sample was fresh broiler chicken meat, namely 15 samples taken randomly from 15 broiler chicken traders. The isolation stage begins with enrichment using Selenite broth media, followed by isolation of bacteria using selective media, namely Salmonella Shigella Agar (SSA), identification using the Gram staining method, and Biochemical Tests including the Triple Sugar Iron Agar Test, Methyl Red, Indole, and Citrate tests. The results of the research found that 5 of 15 (33,3%) samples were identified as contaminated with Salmonella spp. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that broiler chicken meat sold in the Badung market during the transitional season is of poor quality. It is hoped that the government will pay more attention and provide education regarding the procedures and procedures for selling chicken meat according to standards and implement the applicable regulations more strictly, because this can have a serious impact on public health.

Calves infected with gastrointestinal nematodes can spread diseases to other livestock in a new environment, causing a decrease in quality, and financial losses for farmers. This study aims to determine the prevalence and intensity of infection, as well as the gastrointestinal nematodes infecting Bali cattle calves at the Beringkit Livestock Market, Badung Regency. The study used a floatation method to identify worm egg morphology and continued with the McMaster method to determine infection intensity. Out of 100 fecal samples examined, 65 samples were found positive for gastrointestinal nematode infection, resulting in a prevalence of 65% infection among Bali cattle calves at the Beringkit Livestock Market, Badung Regency. The identified nematodes were strongyle-type worms (64%) with an infection intensity of 203 ± 384 EPG, Strongyloides papillosus (10%) with an infection intensity of 100 ± 89 EPG, and Toxocara vitulorum (9%) with an infection intensity of 155 ± 287 EPG. It is concluded from this study that the prevalence of gastrointestinal nematode infections in Bali cattle calves at the Beringkit Livestock Market, Badung Regency was high with infection intensity falling into the mild category. Regular and continuous deworming is necessary as a control and prevention measure for gastrointestinal nematode infections in Bali cattle calves.

Biosecurity is a management step that must be taken by farmers to prevent disease germs from entering the farm and to prevent diseases on the farm from spreading to other farms. This research aims to determine the implementation and level of application of biosecurity components in closed house cages for broiler chicken breeders in Susut District, Bangli Regency, Bali. The method used is a census of respondents, namely all breeders. The data obtained from the interviews is tabulated and then the percentage of the amount of data that is in accordance with biosecurity implementation practices is calculated. The results show that overall farmers have implemented biosecurity components with each biosecurity component, namely the sanitation component showing the Very Good category (85%), the traffic control component showing the Poor category (38.81%) and the sanitation component showing the Very Good category. (97.7%). From the results obtained, chicken farmers should further improve their biosecurity implementation system, especially for guests/farm workers, because a very big factor in the spread of disease is the traffic component, including people, equipment and vehicles.

The lungs are an organ that functions as a place for air exchange, where the incoming air will be used for combustion and energy production. Poultry lungs contain three main elements, namely primary bronchi, secondary bronchi and parabronchi. This study aims to determine the structure and morphometry of new lungs of bali ducks (Anas sp.) of different sexes in the growing phase. This research used 18 balinese ducks which were divided into 2 groups, namely male and female with 9 each (three months old). Anatomical structure examination was carried out by direct observation and histological structure using a binocular light microscope. The results of the anatomical and histological structure data were analyzed using descriptive qualitative analysis, while the morphometric data were analyzed using the Independent Sample T-Test. The anatomical structure of the bali duck's lungs is trapezoidal with conical ends, firmly attached to the thorax, stiff and pink in color, consisting of primary bronchi, secondary bronchi and many parabronchi. The parabronchi consist of the parabronchial wall, parabronchial lumen, septa, arteries/veins, atria, blood capillaries and air sacs. The results of lung morphometry measurements of bali ducks showed that there were no significant differences (P>0.05) in weight, volume, length and width. The results of histomorphometric measurements on the area of the parabronchi, thickness of the parabronchi walls and septa showed significant differences (P<0.05) in the two sexes.
