This study addresses the persistent challenge of rice storage and food security, focusing on the post-harvest management of stored grains, particularly in mitigating damage caused by the rice weevil (Sitophilus oryzae L.). The research explores the impact of varying concentrations (2-8 grams) of green betel leaf (Piper betle L.) powder extract on rice weevil mortality. Employing a Completely Randomized Design, the study reveals that the highest mortality (15.6%) is achieved with an 8-gram concentration of green betel leaf powder. Correlation analysis establishes a positive relationship between concentration and weevil mortality (r = 0.84), with a significant correlation (r = 0.77) between concentration and the time taken for weevil mortality. Calculated efficacy demonstrates that the 8 gram concentration achieves a 70% effectiveness, meeting success criteria. Consequently, green betel leaf powder emerges as a promising botanical insecticide against rice weevils, warranting further investigation for dosage optimization and concentration. Future research should prioritize environmental and human safety considerations in the development and application of botanical insecticides in agricultural pest management.

The 21st-century learning has undergone a paradigm shift in education from teacher-centered to student-centered. It recently emphasises students' critical and creative thinking abilities, effective communication, innovation, problem-solving, and collaboration. This study examined the Ricosre model's effectiveness with the Question Formulation Technique (QFT) in enhancing students' higher-order thinking skills (HOTS) and science literacy. It involved 296 fifth-grade students from three selected state elementary schools, chosen through cluster random sampling. Each group consisted of 148 students divided into control and experimental groups. Data were collected through multiple-choice and essay instruments and subsequently analysed using multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA). The research variables were students' higher-order thinking skills (HOTS) and science literacy. The results indicated that the Ricosre model with QFT effectively improves students' higher-order thinking skills (HOTS) and science literacy, as it encouraged active participation during the learning process, trained students to develop questioning skills, find answers, analyse, share ideas, and draw conclusions. Thus, it can foster curiosity and metacognitive abilities among students.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of the scaffolding guidance provision on students' science process skills (SPS) in a project-based learning (PjBL) about acid and base concepts. A quasi-experimental research design was applied to collect data using a pre-validated SPS-observation. An experiment group of students of SMAN 3 in Jambi City had learnt the concepts using a scaffolding-assisted PjBL while a control group from the same school had learnt it using PjBL without scaffolding. Data was analyzed using t-test assisted by SPSS software. The results of analyses showed that the SPS of the experiment group was higher than their counterparts’ SPS. Statistical analyses showed an effect of the use of the scaffolding guidance on the students’ SPS with the p-value of .000 < .05. The experiment students had been observed achieved the indicators of the SPS during the learning process while their counterparts had not; and those may be due to the benefits of the provision of the scaffolding guidance that eased them to do their tasks. It can be concluded that the use of scaffolding guidance is able to overcome the problems faced by students in a project-based learning that thus improve their SPS

Scientific literacy and mastery of concepts are needed to prepare a generation that is ready and adaptive to face developments in science and technology in the 21st century. Therefore, there is a need to change the learning process through the application of appropriate learning models. The Project Based Learning (PjBL) model can be a solution in increasing students' scientific literacy and mastery of concepts. This research was conducted at SMAN 7 Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) with a quasi experimental pretest-posttest design. The research subjects were 132 of the 10th grade students. The research instrument for scientific literacy and concept mastery uses essay questions. Data were analyzed descriptively and with inferential statistics, i.e correlation tests at a significance level of 1%. The results of data analysis show that the significance value is 0.00, so it can be concluded that there is a positive correlation between concept mastery and student literacy. The implication of the results of this research is that the use of the PjBL model can be used as an alternative model that can empower students' mastery of science concepts and literacy
