Diseases caused by pathogenic bacteria such as Aeromonas hydrophila are a major health concern. However, the use of red betel leaves (P. crocatum) can serve as a potential solution to this problem due to their antibacterial properties. This research aimed to study the antibacterial activity of red betel leaf extract (P. crocatum), the structure and character of the bacteria inhibited by the extract, and the bioactive components present in the leaves. The results of the disc test showed that the average zone of inhibition was 14.28 mm, while the MIC test results revealed that a dose of 100 mg/L could inhibit bacterial growth (bacteriostatic). Moreover, the crude extract of red betel leaf (P. crocatum) damaged the cell walls and cell membranes of A. hydrophila bacteria, thereby affecting their character and structure. The UV-VIS analysis of red betel leaf extract (P. crocatum) and FTIR analysis with 96% ethanol absorption indicated the presence of flavonoids, saponins, tannins, and alkaloids. These findings suggest that red betel leaves can be used as a natural remedy to fight bacterial infections caused by pathogenic bacteria such as Aeromonas hydrophila

This research aims to see the effect of the number of leaves left on the rootstock and the best defoliation time to improve the performance of cacao shoot connection seedlings. The research was conducted in the experimental garden of Politeknik Pertanian Negeri Payakumbuh from March to July 2023. Cocoa clone ICS was used as rootstock and clone TSH as scion. The experimental design was 4x4 factorial with 3 replications, the environmental design was completely randomized design. Data were analyzed statistically using F test and DNMRT further test at 5% level. From the research and data processing, it was found that there is an interaction between the treatment of different number of rootstock leaves and different defoliation times on the performance of cocoa shoot grafting seedlings based on the variables of percentage of grafted seedlings, number of shoots, number of leaves, leaf area and weight of seedling scion. It can be concluded that defoliation of the rootstock six days before splicing with rootstock having four leaves produces the best performance of cacao shoot grafting seedlings

The andragogy approach is learning that directs students to independently solve problems. Students' low solving skills can be seen from the lack of student activity in the learning process resulting in low learning outcomes. The aim of the research is to determine the effect of the andragogy approach on students' problem solving skills in biology learning. The method used is quasi experimental. The research design is a pretest-posttest nonequivalent control group design. The research population was biology teachers in class XI and class XI high school students, totaling 239 people. The sample used a purposive sampling technique with a total of 144 students. Data on problem solving skills using case study questions and teacher interviews. Data analysis used the normalized gain test and independent sample t-test. The results of data analysis show that there is a significant difference between the average N-gain with a result of P = 0.001. The teacher's perspective shows that the andragogy approach improves students' problem solving skills. The research conclusion is that there is an influence of the andragogy approach on students' problem solving skills in biology learning

Corrosion can also be defined as the forced destruction of metal by the surrounding medium which is usually a liquid (corrosive agent). Corrosion prevention processes can be carried out, including by coating the metal surface, cathodic protection, adding corrosion inhibitors and so on. Several types of inhibitors that have been widely used in industrial applications are synthetic chemical inhibitors. However, the compounds of inhibitors are environmentally unfriendly, toxic and expensive. To overcome this problem, it is necessary to develop an environmentally friendly alternative corrosion inhibitor or better known as a green inhibitor. This research aims to test the effectiveness of using a combination of lime (Citrus aurantifolia.), Lerak (Sapindus rarak) and jasmine flower (Jasminum nudiflorum) extracts as an environmentally friendly corrosion inhibitor. The results obtained were inhibitors in the form of a combination which were added to the corrosive medium HCl which could reduce the rate of aluminum corrosion. This research also shows that time and concentration influence the corrosion rate. A higher concentration (200 ppm) has a greater inhibitory power than a concentration of 100 ppm. The best inhibitory power is found in 200 ppm inhibitor with a soaking time of 20 minutes
