Reducing Student’s English Dialogue Anxiety in Online Learning through Board Game 通过棋盘游戏减少学生在线英语学习中的对话焦虑

The COVID 19 has been going on since April 2020 in Indonesia. It has resulted in the Indonesian government, especially the Ministry of Education and Culture, taking preventive steps to minimize contracting the virus. One of them is using online learning for students to go to school. However, there are challenges for teachers and students while learning in an online class, such as students who are often absent, students will quickly feel bored, students tend to be passive in the learning process, students do not master the learning material, and much more. It also happens in an English lesson, especially a dialogue activity. This research aims to prove whether using a board game can be effective media to reduce students’ language anxiety level or not during English learning in an online classroom. The kind of board game is the combination between snake and ladder and candy land, or it has been modified based on learning purpose. The research design used in this research is a quasi-trial non-equivalent control group design. The samples of this research are 60 ninth grades of junior high school students which are divided into the trial and control group. Data analyses used in this research are using SPSS mean score, data deviation, while hypothesis testing used in this research is the Mann-Whitney test.  The result showed that a board game can reduce students’ anxiety levels. The data showed that the mean score of students after implementing board game reduces by 2.90 points, while the standard deviation increases by 2.901 points. From the Mann-Whitney test, it is known that Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) is 0.003 or < 0.05 which shows that H0 is rejected, and H1 is accepted. From the data analysis, it can be shown that the board game is effective media to reduce students’ language anxiety in dialogue activity during learning in an online class. Keywords: board game, language anxiety, online learning

Examining the Impact of Teaching Strategies and Reading Habits on Students’ Reading Comprehension 考察教学策略和阅读习惯对学生阅读理解的影响

This study investigated the impact of two teaching strategies of cooperative learning; Teams Games Tournaments (TGT) and Student Team Achievement Divisions (STAD) on reading comprehension achievement of Junior High School students with different reading habits. After 34 students in experimental and control class did a pre-test, they were treated by using TGT and STAD. The students were also assigned into two group reading habits; high and low. The experimental group received treatment of TGT whereas the control group was treated by STAD. Then, a post-test was administered, and its results were analyzed through two-way ANOVA. The results revealed that TGT and STAD are effective in improving students’ reading comprehension where F ratio (28.846) ˃ F table (3.99), but on the other side, students’ reading habit, both high and low, cannot affect students' reading comprehension. It was also concluded that there was no interaction effect between teaching strategies and reading habits on students’ reading comprehension.Keywords: teaching strategies, TGT, STAD, reading habit.
本研究考察了两种合作学习教学策略的影响;团队游戏锦标赛(TGT)和学生团队成就分组(STAD)对不同阅读习惯初中生阅读理解成绩的影响。实验组和控制班34名学生在完成前测后,采用TGT和STAD治疗。学生们也被分为两组阅读习惯;高高低低的。实验组采用TGT治疗,对照组采用STAD治疗。然后进行后验,并对结果进行双向方差分析。结果显示,TGT和STAD在提高学生阅读理解能力方面是有效的,其中F比(28.846)(F表(3.99)),但另一方面,学生的阅读习惯,无论高低,都不能影响学生的阅读理解能力。教学策略和阅读习惯对学生的阅读理解没有交互作用。关键词:教学策略,TGT, STAD,阅读习惯。

Linguistik Kognitif dalam Majas Metafora, Metonimi dan Sinedoke Bahasa Jepang 认知语言学用暗喻、转喻和日文肥皂剧

Abstrak            Majas merupakan sebuah fenomena bahasa yang ada di tiap bahasa di dunia. Majas dipakai untuk menjelaskan perubahan, pergeseran, dan perluasan makna kata dapat terjadi akibat perkembangan dan kemajuan yang dialami manusia sebagai pemakai bahasa. Dalam bahasa Jepang ada 3 majas yakni metafora, metonimi, sinedoke. Cabang ilmu linguistik kognitif sering dipakai untuk menjelaskan majas, karena penjabarannya yang dapat diterima oleh akal. Linguistik kognitif juga berperan untuk menjembatani kearbiteran bahasa agar sebuah makna dalam sebuah majas dapat dipahami para pembelajar.Keyword : linguistik kognitif, majas, fenomena bahasa AbstractFigurative language is a language phenomenon that exists in every language in the world. It is used to explain changes, displacement, and can be drawn word meaning can occur development and progress made by humans as language users. There are 3 figurative languages in Japan, namely metaphor, metonymy, synecdoche. Cognitive linguistics branch is often used to explain them because of the logically explanation as a reason. Besides, cognitive linguistics also has a role as a bridge the language arbitrary in order the meaning of figurative speech can be easily understood by the readers.Keywords: cognitive linguistics, figurative language, language phenomena

Fungsi Tindak Tutur Ilokusi Guru dalam Interaksi Pembelajaran di Dalam Kelas (Function of Teacher’s Illocutionary Speech Acts during Learning Interaction in Classroom) 教师非故意言语行为在课堂学习互动中的作用

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan fungsi tindak tutur illokusi guru dalam interaksi pembelajaran di dalam kelas. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini adalah teknik simak dan teknik catat. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini adalah tindak tutur guru dalam interaksi pembelajaran di SMK Negeri 1 Klaten. Data yang dipakai adalah tuturan lisan guru pada mata pelajaran Matematika, IPA, Sejarah, dan Akuntansi dalam interaksi pembelajaran di SMK Negeri 1 Klaten yang memiliki satu gagasan atau ide pokok. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, terdapat lima fungsi tindak tutur illokusi yang digunakan oleh guru dalam interaksi pembelajaran di dalam kelas. Kelima fungsi tersebut adalah fungsi asertif berupa menyatakan dan mengeluh; fungsi direktif berupa memerintah dan menasihati; fungsi ekspresif berupa memberi salam dan memuji; fungsi komisif berupa berjanji dan menawarkan sesuatu; fungsi deklarasi berupa memberi nama. Dari kelima fungsi tersebut fungsi direktif adalah yang paling mendominasi dengan tuturan guru yang lebih banyak menyampaikan sebuah perintah.Kata kunci: tindak tutur, illokusi, interaksi pembelajaran ABSTRACTThis research aims to describe the functions of illocutionary speech actsused by teachers in learning interactions in class. The data used is the teachers’ oral speech on Mathematics, Science, History, and Accounting subjects in thelearning interactions at SMK Negeri 1 Klaten which has one conception or main idea. According to the results of the study, there are five functions of illocutionary speech acts used by the teacher in the learning interactionsin the class. The five functions include assertive functions in the form of stating and complaining; directive function in the form of commanding and advising; expressive function in the form of greeting and praising; commissive function in the form of promising and offering something; declarative function in the form of giving a name. Of the five functions, directive function is used most frequently, in which the teachers giving more commands.

Self-Determination of Liz’s Character in Elizabeth Gilbert’s Eat, Pray, Love 伊丽莎白·吉尔伯特《饮食、祈祷、恋爱》中莉兹角色的自我决定

Abstract This study focuses on depicting self-determination performed by main character’s act and how her self-determination gives the impact to her existence. The self determination is the way she takes decision in love life, beliefe, and social life that give impact in her existence. The first problem talks about how Elizabeth Gilbert or Liz determines herself from the conflict in her life. The second will continue the impact she get from her self-determination. This research applies literary criticism in order to describe Self-Determination of Liz’s Character for her existentialism in the phrase, quotation, and statement that related with self-determination in the novel. To answer the problems, this study uses the theory of existentialism by Jean Paul Satre,especially in his book entitled Existentialism is Humanism. The data divides into 2 part that explain about what are the decision Liz take in love life, beliefe, and social life then the impact of her self-determination. The result from the first statement is Liz’s decision as her actualization to determine her destiny in life. Then the impact as her choise she takes is the circumstances she responsible. Key words: Self-determination, existentialism, Jean Paul Sartre, Eat, Pray, Love novel. Abstrak Penelitian ini berfokus pada penggambaran penentuan nasib sendiri yang dilakukan oleh tindakan utama dan bagaimana penentuan nasib sendiri berdampak pada keberadaannya. Penentuan nasib sendiri dari cara dia mengambil keputusan dalam kehidupan cinta, kepercayaan, dan kehidupan sosial yang memberi dampak pada keberadaannya. Masalah pertama berbicara tentang bagaimana Elizabeth Gilbert atau Liz menentukan dirinya dari konflik dalam hidupnya. Yang kedua akan melanjutkan dampak yang didapat dari penentuan nasib sendiri. Penelitian ini menggunakan kritik sastra untuk menggambarkan penentuan nasib sendiri karakter Liz untuk eksistensialismenya dalam frasa, kutipan, dan pernyataan yang terkait dengan penentuan nasib sendiri dalam novel. Untuk menjawab masalah tersebut, penelitian ini menggunakan teori eksistensialisme oleh Jean Paul Satre, khususnya dalam bukunya yang berjudul Existentialism is Humanism. Data dibagi menjadi 2 bagian yang menjelaskan tentang keputusan yang diambil Liz dalam kehidupan cinta, kepercayaan, dan kehidupan sosial kemudian dampak dari penentuan nasib sendiri. Pernyataan pertama adalah keputusan Liz untuk mewujudkan takdirnya dalam kehidupan. Maka dampak dari pilihannya yang dia ambil adalah situasi dia bertanggung jawab. Kata kunci: Penentuan nasib sendiri, eksistensialisme, Jean Paul Sartre, Eat, Pray, Novel cinta.
摘要本研究着重刻画了主人公的自我决定行为,以及她的自我决定如何对她的存在产生影响。自我决定是她在爱情生活、信仰和社会生活中做出决定的方式,对她的存在产生影响。第一个问题讲的是伊丽莎白·吉尔伯特或莉兹如何从生活中的冲突中决定自己。第二个将继续她从她的自决中得到的影响。本研究运用文学批评的方法,通过小说中与自我决定相关的短语、引语和陈述来描述《莉兹》中存在主义的“自我决定”。为了回答这些问题,本研究运用了让·保罗·萨特的存在主义理论,特别是他的《存在主义是人文主义》一书。数据分为两部分,解释了Liz在爱情生活,信仰和社会生活中所做的决定,以及她的自我决定的影响。第一个陈述的结果是Liz的决定,作为她的实现来决定她的命运。那么她的选择所产生的影响就是她所负责的环境。关键词:自决,存在主义,让·保罗·萨特,《吃,祈祷》,爱情小说。【摘要】Penelitian ini berfokus pada penggambaran penentuan nasib sendiri yang dilakukan oleh tindakan utama dan bagaimana penpentian nasib sendiri berdampak pada keberadaannya。Penentuan nasib sendiri dari cara dia mengambil keputusan dalam kehidupan cinta, keperayan, dan kehidupan social yang成员danpak pada keberadaannya。伊丽莎白·吉尔伯特(Elizabeth Gilbert),伊丽莎白·吉尔伯特(Elizabeth Gilbert), Liz menentukan dirinya dari konflik dalam hidupnya。杨科杜阿坎梅兰杰特坎丹帕克杨didapat dari penentuan nasib sendiri。Penelitian ini menggunakan kritik sastra untuk menggambarkan penentuan nasib sendiri karakter, Liz untuk eksistentsialismenya dalam frasa, kutipan, dan pernyataan yang terkait dengan penentuan nasib sendiri dalam小说。Untuk menjawab masalah tersebut, penelitian ini menggunakan teori eksistentsialisme oleh Jean Paul Satre, khususnya dalam bukunya yang, judul存在主义是人文主义。数据dibagi menjadi 2 bagian yang menjelaskan tentang keputusan yang diambil Liz dalam kehidupan cinta, keperayaan, dan kehidupan social kemudian danpak dari penentuan nasib sendiri。Pernyataan pertama adalah keputusan Liz untuk mewujudkan takdirnya dalam kehidupan。Maka dampak dari pilihannya yang,印度,印度,印度,印度,印度,中国。Kata kunci: Penentuan nasib sendiri, eksistensisialism, Jean Paul Sartre, Eat, Pray, Novel cinta。

A Confrontation on Gwendolyn Willow Wilson’s Alif The Unseen: A Study of Postmodernism 论格温多林·威洛·威尔逊的《看不见的阿利夫》:后现代主义研究

AbstractThis project aims to give an analysis of the signs of confrontation in terms of postmodernism strategies by Brian McHale experienced by the main character in Gwendolyn Willow Wilson’s Alif The Unseen. Besides, the researcher analyzed the novel used the theory by Jean Francois Lyotard and Fredrich Jameson to describe the main character’s reaction toward ontological confrontation in postmodern society used in the novel. This article is qualitative research which used the Postmodernism studies to understand one of the strategies to show the ontological confrontations in the novel. This article elaborated some ontological confrontations in postmodernism including confrontation between the fiction and the historical realemes, the fusion between two worlds, and also polyglot. Meanwhile, this article also classified the main character’s reaction toward the ontological confrontation in 5 reactions: refusal reaction, skeptical reaction, curiousity reaction, surprise reaction, and acceptance reaction. It can be concluded that Alif as the part of Postmodern society must recognized the jinn creatures around him as the hacker who has the high ability and dependency of the technology.Keywords: Confrontation, Alif The Unseen, Postmodernism AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk memberikan analisis terhadap tanda-tanda konfrontasi dalam hal strategi postmodernisme oleh Brian McHale yang dialami oleh tokoh utama dalam Alif The Unseen karya Gwendolyn Willow Wilson. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif yang menggunakan studi Postmodernisme untuk memahami salah satu strategi untuk menunjukkan konfrontasi ontologis dalam novel. Artikel ini menguraikan beberapa konfrontasi ontologis dalam postmodernisme termasuk konfrontasi antara fiksi dan kenyataan sejarah, fusi antara dua dunia, dan juga polyglot. Sementara itu, artikel ini juga mengklasifikasikan reaksi karakter utama terhadap konfrontasi ontologis dalam 5 reaksi: reaksi penolakan, reaksi skeptis, reaksi rasa ingin tahu, reaksi kejutan, dan reaksi penerimaan. Penelitian ini mengaplikasikan pendekatan pragmatik untuk menganalisis tipe dan pengaplikasian  strategi-strategi request. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah; (1) untuk mengidentifikasi tipe request yang digunakan oleh Nouman Ali Khan pada pembelajaran Qur’an Tafsir Al-Ikhlas dan Al-Bayyinah dan (2) untuk menjelaskn pengaplikasian request yang disampaikan oleh Nouman Ali Khan dalam pembelajaran Qur’an Tafsir Al-Ikhlas dan Al-Bayyinah. Metode penelitian kualitatif dengan data berupa ujaran yang didapat dalam transkrip video pembelajaran Qur’an Tafsir Al-Ikhlas dan Al-Bayyinah.Hasil dari penelitian ini menjabarkan dua poin. Pertama, ditemukan tujuh tipe request yang diaplikasikan. Tipe yang ditemukan yakni;  (1)Suggestory Formulae 29%, (2) Obligation Statement 21%, (3) Query Preparatory 19%, (4)Strong Hint 13%, (5) Performatives 10%, (6) Mild Hint 6% dan (7) Want Statement. Tipe yang paling sering digunakan adalah Suggestory Formulae dan yang paling sedikit muncul adalah Want Statement. Kedua, setiap request yang digunakan dalam ujaran selalu memiliki kata kunci unsur yang membedakan tipe-tipe request. Ada dua factor yang mempengaruhi pengaplikasian requests yaitu kasus dan fungsi. Suatu kasus mempengaruhi pembicara dalam mengujarkan request yang didasarkan oleh konteks pembelajaran yang sedang dibahas. Sementara fungsi mempengaruhi tipe request yang diujarkan oleh Nouman Ali Khan yang bertujuan untuk menyampaikan tujuan  isi surah. Al Bayyinah\" and (2) to explain the application of request used by Nouman Ali Khan lectures entitled \"Qur’an Tafseer of Qs. Al Ikhlas\"and\" Qur’an Tafseer of Qs. Al Bayyinah\". This research employed descriptive qualitative method. The data of this study were the utterances taken from the transcript of Quran tafseer lectures of Qs.Al-Ikhlas and Qs.Al-Bayyinah uttered by Nouman Ali Khan. There were 48 data found by the researcher.            The result of this research showed two points. First, seven types of requests appeared. Henry James is primarily known for series of major novels in which he portrayed the encounter of Americans with Europeans, and his plot centered on the personal relationship. Relationship is one of the most domineering and recurring motifs in the works of James. James’ main contention for personal relationship is that a relationship develops through stages of relationship. To analyze it, George Levinger’s stages of relationship theory is applied, starting from the (A) attraction stage, (B) building stage, (C) continuation stage, (D) deterioration stage and (E) ending stage. Based on the analysis,it can be described that Isabel’s relationship with Osmond develop through five stages of relationship. It is began when they are attracted each other and building a relationship, then their relationship become consolidated. When they feel that their relationship as less desirable or worthwhile and the deterioration can not be stopped, they end their relationship due to lack of love, trust and mutual understanding as the root cause for the failure of a relationship. Resepsi Teks Pararaton: dari Serat ke Novel 巴拉顿文本的接待:从纤维到小说

This paper is ground by the presence of novel Pararaton as a new form of text Pararaton. The problem in this paper is how the Pararaton text is perceived into a novel form. This paper aims to explain the novel differences with the classic Pararaton texts and to show an inversion in the form of a novel that is adapted according to the horizon of today's readers' expectations. To address this problem, this paper uses Hans Robert Jauss' reception theory and phenomenology methods. This paper shows some analysis results.  First, the novel Pararaton shows richer with narrative detailing than the Pararaton text. Secondly, Novel Pararaton also shows the creation of the depiction of Ken Arok, Ken Dedes, and Tunggul Ametung. The creations relate to the expectations horizon of today's society. Third, Pararaton's novel as a reflection of Pararatonic classical texts, figures or characterizations, story settings, and grooves. Fourth, the novel Pararaton presented with a full ethical narrative in describing the characters Tunggul Ametung and Ken Arok.Key word: novel Pararaton, reception, the expectation horizon, inversion

AbstrakMembuat iklan sama halnya dengan melakukan komunikasi kepada orang lain. Hal ini sejalan dengan prinsip Pragmatik, dimana inti dari sebuah komunikasi adalah tersampainya pesan dengan baik. Penelitian ini memilih iklan XL bebas yang diambil dari tabloid PULSA sebagai objek kajian. Iklan ini akan dianalisis dari segi speech act (Locution, Illocution, Perlocution), berdasarkan teori Austen/Searle dan analisis copywriting. Dari hasil analisis, disimpulkan bahwa pesan iklan memiliki maksud tersendiri yakni respektif respon  dari pembaca. Selain itu elemen copywriting juga sangat menentukan dalam menuliskan pesan iklan guna menarik perhatian pembaca. keywords: speech act, locution, illocution, perlocution, advertisement, copywriting,  Â Abstract Creating an ad is similar to conduct a communication. From the analysis, it is concluded that the ad messages have its own purpose namely respective responses from readers.
