Nowadays, digital transformation is a must for most organizations. It is a trend and interesting topic for companies across the world. During the past twenty years, technology has not only changed our personal lives but also changed the businesses around the world. Technology became the most important factor to the success and sustainability and the fast revolution of technology is changing the business industries environment and affecting the nature of competition and it is getting more aggressive. Digital transformation is one of the essential programs to achieve the vision of Saudi Arabia 2030. The kingdom has taken real steps towards implementing digital transformation. However, SAUDIA Airlines, the flag carrier and the biggest airline company at Saudi Arabia, has to be digitally transformed to be in-line with industry trends. The challenge is to transform SAUDIA’s entire digital experience into seamless experience to keep up with the competition. MIT-Capgemini digital transformation framework was the base of this study. The framework contains ten factors for successful digital transformation journey. All these factors have been analyzed and discussed. Finally, Interpretive Structural Modeling (ISM) has been used to prioritize the factors of framework and to define factors’ dependencies among each other.

Scientists and practitioners frequently resort to replicating empirical data when testing the validity of scientific theories or testing hypothesis. Commonly known probability distribution (Normal, Binomial, Exponential, etc.) are habitually assumed to fit the empirical data. To avoid complicated probability distributions, analysts find themselves tolerating poor values for the goodness of fit. In this paper, a methodology is introduced for replicating empirical data that succeeded in obtaining goodness of fit close to 100% compared to 87% goodness of fit using a known probability distribution. Moreover, Artificial Intelligence (AI) is developed spatially for this research to enhance accuracy further.

Swarm robotics is a method of collective robotics that has received a great deal of attention in recent years. Swarm robotics ambitions at growing structures that are robust, scalable and flexible. The literature is being analyzed from the swarm engineering perspective. We proposed taxonomies to research the swarm robotics literature: the techniques taxonomy, wherein we discussed the principle layout and analysis methods, etc. In this paper, we supplied a review of the state of the art in swarm robotics from a swarm engineering perspective. We foresee that, as swarm robotics is further advanced and as it is used to address real-world applications, the need for a swarm engineering will increase. In the conclusions, we additionally diagnosed a few open issues along with swarm engineering aspects at underdeveloped level.

The performance of the airline industry is highly affected by ground services operations. For instance, a failure in one ground operation activity could result in the poor on-time performance of the airline's companies. The objective of the current study is to analyze the causes of ground operations accidents that resulted in aircraft damages in an airlines company in Saudi Arabia. Furthermore, the safety culture of the ground operators was assessed. The number of accidents during the period 2016-2019 was found high. The main causes were unsafe operator act and unsafe supervision. Also, the safety culture questionnaire revealed that other causes had a role in developing unsafe acts, such as organizational aspects. The study recommends improving many organizational aspects such as properly designed procedures, roles and responsibilities, training, communication and reporting system, equipment maintenance schedule, field inspections, strict and supportive supervision, as well as fair workload and compensation. Improving these aspects should reflect on the safety culture and behaviour of operators and immediate supervisors. The result is reduced aircraft damage accidents and on-time performance improvement.

Airline companies are usually facing high flight deck crew (FDC) costs. They usually go through three different stages just to determine the FDC. First is the network and scheduling which translates customer demand into flying hours. Second, the manpower planning which convert flying hours in terms of FDC. The third is the crew scheduling, which is pairing, assignment, and recovery from irregular operations. This study aims to focus on helping the manpower planning department in an airlines company to find out the availability of new methods for determining the optimum FDC with minimum possible cost. One important function of HR is the Strategic Workforce Planning (SWP). In other words, the succession planning. SWP focuses on two types of positions; the critical, and the pivotal. Since FDC positions (Captains and First Officers) are very critical, so they are the most important positions in any aviation -airline- company. Three new theories have been developed and proposed in the literature. The results and findings showed that two of the three theories give better results, an airline company can save up to 75 million $ per annum.

Manpower planning is one of the most important key functions in any organization. It deals with putting the right number and kind of the people, at the right time in the right place to achieve the organization’s objectives. It must be a system approach to plan the manpower in any organization. Flight deck crew and cabin crew are the heart of any airlines company. They need to be trained for months and years to be ready for their jobs. So, the airlines companies need to have a good manpower planning to forecast the future need and plan for their future. However, SAUDIA airlines has an ambitious plan to expand their network, open new destinations and increase the number of passengers per year in the near future. There are many factors was considered to predict the number of the needed cabin crew and the flight deck crew. Saudi Vision 2030 has a lot of ambitious plans to increase the number of pilgrims per year. Also, Saudi Vision 2030 focuses on the tourism industry in Saudi Arabia which will reflect on the demand for flights from and to Saudi Arabia. The study identified the needed manpower for the cabin crew and the flight deck crew until 2025 considering the monthly block hours for the last five years, percentage of augmented flight deck crew, type of the aircrafts, number of each type and the allowances as an input. The output was the number of the needed flight deck crew and the cabin crew till 2025. In addition, the future demand was predicted considering the plans in Saudi Vision2030. Network planning department in SAUDIA airlines was the source to collect relevant data. These data were analyzed using simple moving average forecasting. Additional to that, SAUDIA models were used to determine the needed manpower for the flight deck crew and the cabin crew until 2025. Finally, Saudi Vision2030 programs was considered in order to predict the future considering the present time events and their potential interaction. It is found that SAUDIA need to hire more captains, first officers, cabin managers and cabin attendants and prepare training plans to be ready for the future.

In this paper the design of a Graphical User Interface (GUI) is proposed for healthcare applications. The GUI is designed in MATLAB environment and is specifically suitable for advanced phonocardiography (PCG). This diagnostic method is more and more important nowadays, due to the advances in signal processing methods and computer processors performances in order to detect with a simple PC based electronic stethoscope, pathologies otherwise detectable with much more expensive and time-consuming medical techniques and devices.

The Burr Type X distribution is considered as a probability model for the lifetime of the product. Sampling plans in which items that are put to test, to collect the life of the items in order to decide upon accepting or rejecting a submitted lot, are called reliability test plans. A test plan to determine the termination time of the experiment for a given sample size, producer’s risk and termination number is constructed. The preferability of the present test plan over similar plans exists in the literature is established with respect to time of the experiment. Results are illustrated by an example.

The widespread use of Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) in the consumer electronics market makes designers integrate more and more solutions with these programmable logic devices. In this paper, the authors use a CYCLONE V 5CSEMA5FC31C6N Altera-Intel FPGA in order to implement a UART-to-Bell202 converter for the direct interfacing of an FPGA with an analogue line on the voice band, not still available for industrial and consumer electronic for communications applications. In particular, a transmitter is created with an Audio Shift Keying modulation without phase continuity, capable of converting UART signals coming from any UART transmitter (for example a personal computer, PC) into a modulated signal. The design has been performed using the Terasic DE1-SoC development board, while instrumental tests have been performed with a ZEROPLUS LAP-C logic states analyzer and a CML1102 oscilloscope..
