The aim of this research is to develop a model of effective professional learning community for elementary school teachers. The research design is survey and correlational type. Data were collected by questionnaire from randomly selected 241 elementary school teachers. To identify components of professional learning community, researcher performs exploratory factor analysis. Furthermore, researcher tested the effect of professional learning community on teachers’ performance using path analysis. This research found 4 components of professional learning community, namely teacher collaboration for learning improvement, the support of resources, opportunities for collaborative learning, and the school’s social capital. From the path analysis procedure, researcher found that among the 4 components of professional learning community, only teacher collaboration for learning improvement has a significant direct effect on teachers’ performance. Meanwhile, the other three components have indirect effects on teachers’ performance mediated by teacher collaboration for learning improvement component. For initiating professional learning community, this research suggests to put more attention to create a supportive condition for facilitating teacher collaboration for learning improvement. Keywords—effective professional learning community, teachers’ performance

This research aims at: (1) develop an integrated thematic learning instrument based on environment in the sub-theme "Gaya dan Gerak" (force and motion) for the fourth grade students in Sekolah Dasar Negeri (State Elementary School) – SD N Nogopuro, and (2) determine the effectiveness of the integrated thematic learning instruments based on environment in the sub-theme "Gaya dan Gerak" for the fourth grade students in SD N Nogopuro. The research method employed research and development with the suggested model from Dick & Carey consisting of 10 stages. The data was collected by interview, assessment sheet for the product of learning kit, observation sheet for the teacher, observation sheet for learners, learning outcomes tests and teachers' questionnaire responses. The research instruments and products were validated through expert judgment in case of material and evaluation. Data analysis techniques made use of both qualitative and quantitative techniques. Qualitative data analysis techniques were used to determine the predicate of product feasibility, while quantitative data analysis techniques were used to determine the effectiveness of the use of learning tools products that had been developed. The quantitative analysis techniques used paired sample t-test method to know the difference of pretest and posttest in one class, and independent sample t-test to know the difference result of posttest in the experiment and control class with the significance level of 0.05 with the assistance of SPSS program. The results indicated that the learning instruments consisting of syllabus, lesson plans, teaching materials, and test results of learning outcomes were feasible according to the validator, the elementary school teachers. Based on the paired sample t-test analysis, it was found that there were differences in learning outcomes in each class. The result of the independent sample of t-test with Sign. 0,000 indicated that there were outcomes differences in experimental and control class as the implementation result of integrative thematic learning instruments based on the environment in the sub-theme of "Gaya dan Gerak". It means that learning with integrative thematic learning instruments is better than the conventional tools. Keywords—learning instruments, thematic-integrative, environment-based learning
Sign.

Education in the 21st Century requires skill and creativity to support student learning. Learning does not only focus on the one that is conducted in classrooms, but it also can be conducted in the outside of the class as an alternative learning. The objective of this study is to investigate the role of the field study on Geography subject because of the innovation of learning in the 21st century. This is qualitative study which employed descriptive statistics as the statistical method. The data that were collected through interviews. The results of the study show that innovation in learning makes students more creative and develops students’ skills. Field studies may be used by Geography teachers as environment-based learning supports since Geography laboratories are the nature indicating the importance of field studies for Geography

The purpose of this research is to know the critical thinking ability of a primary school after getting a treatment by applying problembased learning model (PBL) based on thematic learning. This research is a descriptive research, with a quantitative method. The research was conducted at SDN 1 Mada. The population in this research is the fourth-grade students in IV Nada District who enrolled in the even semester of the academic year 2017/2018. A Sample in this research is class IV at SDN 1 Mada, which is 25 participants. The data collection used is a questionnaire test with a total of 10 items covering all five categories of critical thinking skills according to Nitko and Brookhart namely (1) elementary clarification, (2) basic support of argument, (3) inferences, (4) advanced clarification, and (5) strategies and tactics. From the result of the test of the students with critical thinking ability; after getting treatment of the PBL model; 52% are with a very high category, and 48% high category with an average value of 76,6. From the result of the research, it can be concluded that overall the fourth-grade students of SDN 1 Mada in the (even)seventh? semester of the academic year of 2017/2018 have the ability to think highly. This is a part of research and development under the issue of developing English speaking textbooks oriented to Multiple Intelligence Accommodation (MIA) for students of Junior High Schools (JHS). This study is aimed at determining the students’ needs and Multiple Intelligence (MI) profiles to develop English speaking textbooks. It is evident that a great number of the existing English textbooks for JHS students do not meet the student needs and ignore MIA. Nevertheless, these books provide merely a small number of speaking tasks. This leads to a failure at acquiring English speaking proficiency on the part of the students. This study involved 64 students of seventh grade of JHS in Kebumen Regency of Central Java as the sample. The surveys, tests, and interviews were done to obtain the data. The data analysis is conducted using both qualitative and quantitative methods. In accordance with the data analysis, two findings are documented; (1) the major students convey high necessity of grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation tasks in the learning materials; and (2) Logical/ Mathematical, Linguistic, Visual/Spatial, Intrapersonal, and bodily/ kinesthetic intelligences reflect the students’ MI profile. Keywords—student needs, multiple intelligence profiles, speaking textbooks
