This article is a part of research and development under the issue of developing English reading materials oriented to multiple intelligence accommodation (MIA) for junior high school students. It is aimed at generating the English reading materials which accommodate the enhancement of the multiple intelligences (MI). This relies on the evidence that a great number of English textbooks―the English reading materials, in particular, have not considered the enhancement of multiple intelligences on the part of the students. This directly or indirectly affects the acquisition of deconstructing and constructing the English texts. To achieve the objective, this study voluntarily involved 65 students of a junior high school in Yogyakarta Special Province, Indonesia, as the sample of study. Four data collection techniques were employed: Observation, interview, Multiple Intelligence Scale (MIS) test and questionnaire. The collected data were analysed using both qualitative and quantitative methods. In reference to the data analysis, several findings were gained. First, the majority of students had low English reading ability and interest. Second, the majority of students proposed three-top types of MI: musical, spatial, and bodily-kinaesthetic types. Third, the majority of students voiced that a great number of tasks in their main English textbook were not accommodating reading materials based on their MI. They further strongly support the development of English reading materials oriented to students’ MI. Keywords— multiple intelligences; english learning needs; reading materials.

Research on psychological well-being has been done in many countries, including Indonesia. However, the instruments for psychological well-being measurement available in Bahasa Indonesia are limited. This study aimed to adapt the EPOCH Measure of Adolescent Well-being which was developed by Kern et.al. [1] in Bahasa Indonesia. The EPOCH Measure of Adolescents Well-being assesses five positive psychological characteristics, i.e. Engagement, Perseverance, Optimism, Connectedness, and Happiness [1]. The adaptation of the instrument was done through some stages as suggested by Beaton [2]. The adaptation process was done through translation, synthesis, back translation, experts review and pre-testing. The translated version of the instrument was distributed to 40 junior high school students to check the readability of the instrument. The final version of the translated instrument was then tested to 514 junior high school students in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Item total correlation shows that there are 18 items that shows high correlation (rtt .360 .505) and 2 items that shows low correlation (rtt .173 and .289). The translated version of the instrument shows reliability of the alpha coefficient .842. There is a need to do improvement on the translation on the items which has low item total

The research aimed to identify the students’ needs as the basic data to create learning media to assist the development of creativity of story writing. The research used descriptive qualitative method. The data of the research was gathered through observation, interview, and questionnaire. The subjects of the research were 82 students and 3 teachers of Fifth Grade in Primary School. The results of the research through observation and interview show that the creativity of story writing has not been optimally developed. The assignment of writing a story with a non-varied selection theme hamper the creativity of story writing. Moreover, students find difficulties in developing the idea of the story, almost all students only retell the story that has been presented in the text. The results also reveal that students are willing to have enjoyable and fun leaning activities. They want to have the freedom to express their imagination in story writing as well. Hence, there is a need for a media development that can build an enjoyable learning atmosphere and become a tool to develop the creativity of story writing. Students need a stimulus that can develop their imagination in story writing. Keywords—creativity, story writing, learning media

Students of the Faculty of Engineering are an integral part of Indonesian students, as engineering science principles can be used as an educational social control of development, contribute to the government to build the nation state, and provide solutions to problems in the country. Movement of organizational dynamics within the campus led to the birth of Student Activity Unit (UKM) as a forum for student activities to develop interests, talents, and expertise of its members. Activities undertaken in the Student Activity Unit (UKM) always use the lecture schedule to reduce the burden in lecturing activities. Students who choose between activities in the student activity unit or college. Students who engage in inactive learning activities. The purpose of this research is to know the relation of the students to Student Activity Unit (UKM) and learning activity with Cumulative Achievement Index. This research is a descriptive research with correlational study type to explain the formulation of the raised problem. Respondents were all students (31 people) majoring in mechanical engineering involved in a student activity unit (UKM). The method used in this research is total sampling. The results showed a positive and meaningful linear relationship between the Student Unit program (SME) and Grade Point Average (GPA) students of Mechanical Engineering University

The Learning Management System (LMS) is a common occurrence in most educational institutions. This system is a software application helping the educator in administration, facilitation, and tracking of course content to the learner. Educators have always been interested in understanding student interaction with systems like LMS. Such a system generates a plethora of data in a various form such as student performance on the individual course, activities, student behaviors, etc. The most prominent solutions involve performing dimensionality reduction technique to improve classifier accuracy and reducing the fewer error rates. Therefore, this study utilizes feature selection as a dimensionality reduction technique. The multiclass data were handled using the Learning Vector Quantization (LVQ) algorithm to identify significant predictors and thereby reducing the biased result. The efficiency of feature selection technique is evaluated with five different classifiers such as Linear Discriminate Analysis (LDA), Classification and Regression Tree (CART), k-Nearest Neighbor (KNN), Support Vector Machine (SVM), and Random Forest (RF). The performance of the classifier is evaluated using the kappa statistics and confusion matrix. Our extensive experimental results show that RF classifier produces optimum kappa statistic (85 %) with LVQ. Keywords—learning management system; classification; student performance; kappa statistic
