Mathematical communication is one of the basic math skills. It can be developed on a math lesson with all the learning resources that students and teachers have. Module based Augmented Reality (AR) is one alternative learning resources that can help students and teacher during the learning process. The purpose of this study is to know the importance of the AR module to improve mathematical communication of elementary students. This study uses a survey with questionnaire distribution and interview session. The data were collected from the elementary schools in Kulon Progo District, Yogyakarta with total respondents of 1000. The findings revealed that total percentage of the students’ level in Mathematical communication was 40,3% (low category) and the level of students’ Mathematical communication on each aspect was 48,68% (low category). The teacher did not have the learning resources to develop mathematical communication. In fact, the students are very interested in the gadget. It will be beneficial to develop an AR module by involving gadget to improve the students’ Mathematical communication. Keywords—augmented reality, elementary student; module, mathematical communication

Most students in the 1st grade of elementary school have not participated in the Civic Education learning process actively and their learning outcomes may be still low. This research aims to improve the students’ participation and learning outcomes through make-a-match type of cooperative learning model. This study belongs to action research with Kemmis & McTaggart’s model conducted through two cycles each of which has two meetings. The subjects were 17 male students and 18 female ones. Data were collected through observation, written test, and documentation. The research instruments were an observation guide and a written test. Qualitative and quantitative analysis were both employed. The results of this study show that (1) the students’ participation reaches 62.80% in Cycle I and raises up to 91.42% in Cycle II. (2) Students’ minimum accomplishment criteria (KKM) for Civic Education in Cycle I are reached by 74.28% of students and improves to 88.57% in Cycle II. These outcomes prove that the implementation of Make-A-Match type of cooperative learning model can improve the first-grade students’ learning involvement and outcomes in Civic Education. Keywords—participation, learning outcomes, cooperative learning, make-a-match type

This research aims to determine the effect of treffinger learning model toward the critical thinking ability of students in SMK 3 Yogyakarta. This research is a quasi-experimental research design with post-test only non-equivalent group design. The sampling is in the form of purposive sampling technique obtained sample of 64 learners in SMK 3 Yogyakarta which divided into experiment and control groups. The experimental group apply treffinger learning model in TITL-1 while control with discovery learning model in TITL-2. This study was conducted for 8 meetings. The analysis of test data used t-test with SPSS 16 program. The result hypothesis analysis of t-test obtained t count > t table is 2,443 > 1,999 and P value is 0.017 < 0.05 then Ho is rejected. The research indicates that between a group of experiments using model learning treffinger with controls that use the discovery learning has the effect of significantly different critical thinking ability of students. It concludes that there is a difference in average critical thinking ability on both models of learning. Keywords—critical thinking ability, Treffinger

Education is a means to develop the potential of learners to be more effective in accordance with the times. Meanwhile, the world is faced with the conditions of the digital era that demands innovation in learning. The position of teachers as educators are a source of information in education began to sink along with the presence of information technology is growing. Teachers who stutter technology can not compensate for the dynamic learners mindset that continues to grow. However, the misuse of technology can also reduce the authority and confidence of learners. The study used the literary study (kepustakaan). The study collected the data by exploring documents, print and online media. The results of this study concluded that teachers should be able to maintain its existence to explore ideas in learning, fostering a culture of collaboration and group communication, preserving the culture of writing scientific papers, and adapt with the era. In connection with the need to develop sensitivity and awareness of teachers as educators, they have to maintain the commitment and carry out his profession as an educator of character. Character deviation is one of the crucial problems in Indonesia. It is characterized by several phenomena that show the decline of nation characters such as violence, oppression, and drug abuse. In this context, character education becomes one of the solutions to the problem. Padepokan Karakter is one form of innovations in carrying out character education in Indonesia. The aims of this study were to (1) describe the character strengthening strategy developed in Padepokan Karakter, and (2) identify the factors supporting the strengthening of characters in Padepokan Karakter. The results showed that (1) the character strengthening strategies applied in Padepokan Karakter include three processes namely planning, implementation, and evaluation; and (2) the supporting factors for character enhancement in Padepokan Karakter include the design of Padepokan Karakter locus, learning devices, and learning methods used in Padepokan Karakter. This research was the supporter of theories of character education strategies by using pictures, stories, and videos concerning youth
