This study aims to describe the impact differences among STAD, NHT and conventional cooperative learning models on students' social skills and the effectiveness of cooperative learning approach with Student Teams-Achievement Divisions (STAD) and Numbered Head Together (NHT) in performing Social Skills. It used the quantitative method with quasiexperimental design using the pretest and the posttest group design. The research participants were fifth grade students of Elementary School Muhammadiyah 1 Magelang, who were selected using the simple random sampling technique. The hypothesis were tested using paired t-test and Anova with a significance level of 5%. The results of the study demonstrated that there are differences in the effect of STAD, NHT and conventional cooperative learning models on students' social skills and cooperative learning model type STAD and NHT are effective to improve students’ social skills. Keywords— STAD, NHT, Social Skills

This research was aim to know whether comics can be a media to facilitate children to learn characters. The respondents of this research were 76 children at age 9-12 in Condongcatur Primary School Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Results of the research showed that 98% of children had read comic and 94% liked to read comic. Many children like comics with stories about hero, friendship, family and etc. Comics are the children’s favorite reading because they are simple and interesting to read. Comic stories containing moral and social values can shape the child's character. Through the comic the child feels a detailed storyline and can understand the message more clearly. Finally by comics, learning strategies can be developed through knowing, acting, and habits. The conclusion emphasizes that there is a need to develop comic learning media to learn character of care and responsibility in children. Keywords—comic learning, character, care,

This article is part of research and development under the issue of developing English writing textbooks oriented to Blended Culture for the XI grade of science program at Culture-Based Senior High School (henceforth, CB-SHS) in Yogyakarta. This relies on the evidence of how the majority of English textbooks rely on considering the student’s local culture background, which eventually may impact meaningmaking English in context. It leads the researcher to evaluate Educational Culture-Based Curriculum (henceforth, ECBC) implementation, and to conduct need analysis for students, teachers, and stakeholders. To achieve the objective, this study involved the voluntary participation of 180 students at 3 schools from 3 regencies; 8 English teachers; 3 headmasters; 1 staff on Department of Education, Youth, and Sport; Institute of Educational Quality Assurance; and Department of Culture. Observation sheet, structured interview, questionnaires for need analysis, questionnaire checklist for culture awareness, learning style on writing, and also self-assessment for writing ability and English proficiency level were employed to gather data and analyzed them by using both descriptive qualitative and quantitative methods. There are three findings documented, i.e. 1) the majority of students placed culture awareness mode on novice range; 2) audio-visual is detecting on mostly learning styles of students; 3) the fundamental problem of ECBC is that none of the books are integrated with local cultures, and there is no semi-guided writing. Keywords—english textbook, need analysis, blended culture, educational culture-based curriculum, senior high school students

This study aims to determine the antecedent of job engagement towards job embeddedness and the working performance among the educational staffs of Sarjanawiyata Tamansiswa University. The research design can be categorized as ex-post facto with a correlational study that examines the relationship between each research variable. The research sample used 118 educational staff at Sarjanawiyata Tamansiswa University. The data analysis used the Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) technique by using Lisrel 8.50 software. The research finding revealed that job embeddedness had a positive influence on job engagement significantly. Job satisfaction showed a positive influence on job engagement significantly. However, the influence of job embeddedness on the performance of educational staffs in Sarjanawiyata Tamansiswa University was not proven. The influence of job embeddedness towards the performance will be stronger through job engagement. Job engagement indicated a positive influence on the performance among the educational staff of Sarjanawiyata Tamansiswa University. The objective of this research is to identify the application of total quality management based on the five pillars of total quality management; total involvement, measurement, commitment, customer focus and continuous improvement in 3 and 8 Yogyakarta State Senior High Schools. The type of research used in this thesis is qualitative with a case study. The data sources are principals, vice principals, teachers, education personnel, and students. The techniques of collecting data are observation, interview, and documentation. The validity of the data used in this thesis is observational persistence and triangulation. This research uses three components of interactive analysis; data reduction, data exposure or presentation and conclusion. The results show that (1) Every member in the school shows cooperation, active participation, and good communication, (2) Schools evaluate through SWOT analysis to measure the achievement of quality standard, (3) School members are responsible to the task given in supporting quality improvement, (4) Services delivered according to standards of customer satisfaction, (5) Schools using PDCA pattern. —This research was carried out because there are various problems in learning Mathematics in the class. As a solution of the problems, researchers conducted a classroom action research. The purpose of this research is to (1) develop the learning of elementary mathematics and (2) to describe the improvement of mathematics learning achievement in determining the volume, and the surface area of cube and prism building with the approach of media-aided process skill in grade V student of Muhammadiyah Sapen Yogyakarta. This research is a classroom action research. Data collection was done through observation, interview, field notes, and documentation. Data analysis technique used is descriptive qualitative and quantitative analysis. The results of the study are as follows. (1) The approach of media-assisted process assisted measure can improve mathematics learning achievement in determining cube and prism build volume in grade V SD Muhammadiyah Sapen Yogyakarta. (2) The media-assisted process-assisted approach can improve the mathematics learning achievement in determining the surface area of cube and prism building on the students of grade V SD Muhammadiyah Sapen Yogyakarta. Both of these are proven by the improvement of average and mastery of students' mathematics learning. The average of student learning increased at pre-cycle of 77, 42 increased to 78, 21 in cycle 1, and 82,60 in cycle 2. The improvement of students' conformity with the value of KKM or mastery of students in the learning on the pre cycle is that 16 students or 48.49%, complete the KKM, which later increased in cycle 1 with 21 students or 64.64%, completed the KKM and on cycle 2 there were 32 students or 96.97% completed the KKM.

This study aims to describe the improvement of the quality of human resources in education through TWG (Teacher Working Group), especially in the field of teachers’ pedagogic competencies and work ethic. It is done to produce qualified educators to build smart, comprehensive, and highly competitive Indonesian human beings. It is mixed methods research using a sequential exploratory design. The study used a qualitative approach (interview) in the first stage and a quantitative method (survey) in the second stage. The respondents of this study were elementary school teachers, and 84 members of Teacher Working Group (TWG) Gugus Wiyata Jaya UPK Jatilawang, Banyumas Regency, Central Java. The results show that the pedagogic competence improvement of teachers is considered good with the percentage of 76.93% and the percentage of the development of teacher work ethic is 82.92%. Keywords—professionalism, pedagogy, work ethic, Teacher Working Group (TWG)
