University students' self-presentation on Tiktok in the context of group communication 小组交流背景下大学生在 Tiktok 上的自我展示

The phenomenon of self-presentation is increasingly trending to reveal, develop identities, manipulate and customise individuals' self-images on social media. University students present themselves on TikTok through video uploads, music, and distributed using TikTok's highly personalised algorithms in group communication: watch history, re-watches, likes, comments, and post-view activity. We present the concept of online impression management through the lens of self-presentation theory as the practice of conveying self-impression and controlling personal information to represent one's self-image to be liked. This study uses a qualitative approach, uses phenomenological methods to find the meaning and interpretation of self-presentation through uploads on TikTok. They expressed personal information to their reference group and experimented based on different roles when constructing identity. Some strategies are used to give a positive impression to their friends. They projected different versions of themselves depending on self-category and group communication context when receiving positive feedback or likes.

Curating culture: Instagram and the visual representation of heritage tourism in Surabaya 策划文化:Instagram 和泗水遗产旅游的视觉呈现

This study investigates how Instagram shapes public engagement with cultural heritage through a case study in Surabaya, Indonesia. Surabaya possesses diverse assets; however, its tourism potential remains underexplored compared with established destinations such as Yogyakarta. Instagram offers opportunities to study how Surabaya’s identity is visually constructed and promoted to visitors. Through hashtag #surabayaheritage, users practice certain perspectives on the city’s multifaceted history.  This study aims to investigate how Instagram shapes public engagement with cultural heritage through a case study of Surabaya, Indonesia. Specifically, this research examines how Surabaya's identity is visually constructed through the hashtag #surabayaheritage on Instagram. Employing both qualitative content analysis and critical visual discourse, this study examined 100 top Instagram posts,  revealing that heritage discourse dominated the posts, with Dutch colonial buildings being the primary photographic subjects. The research findings also emphasise that while the historical discourse emphasises architectural details and educational history, it marginalises other aspects of cultural heritage, especially those that do not originate from the colonial era. By applying visual discourse analysis, this aestheticised selective gaze indicates the productive power of Instagram conventions in framing heritage sites. Further research should incorporate non-Instagram perspectives and spatial analysis. As heritage tourism expands globally, critical examination of social media discourse provides vital insights into the risks and opportunities for inclusive and sustainable development, particularly for local communities.

Subculture of female Korean culture fans: pleasure, creativity, and sisterhood 韩国女性文化迷的亚文化:快乐、创造力和姐妹情谊

The entry of the Korean wave in the early 2000s in Indonesia, which was facilitated by internet technology, has become part of communication activities. This has led to the formation of subcultures of fans of Korean wave products, namely K-Drama and K-Pop, including women's subcultures who like K-drama and K-Pop. This subculture was built and developed through social media such as Facebook and WhatsApp. This article reviews how the digital era has changed how female fans interact to empower themselves through subcultures in the online space, mainly focusing on female fans of K-pop bands and K-dramas. Using the ethnographic research method, the research results show that along with the digital era that continues to develop, the subculture of female fans, initially formed through a physical collective group, has now evolved into a subculture of female fans formed through internet-based interactions. The subculture of female fans in the online space has become a forum for exploring pleasure, creativity, and self-empowerment through text production and reproduction of media texts supported by digital technology. Exploration of fun, creativity, and self-empowerment merged in a sense of sisterhood, participatory and collaborative culture.

Controlling perpetrators of spreading fake news in the Southern Sumatra regional police 控制南苏门答腊地区警察中的假新闻传播者

The continuous development of information technology brings significant changes in various fields of community life. Society and the internet have a very complex and significant relationship, especially in terms of using the internet as a means of socialisation and interaction. In the context of social media abuse, people are often trapped in complex issues that lead to hoaxes and hate speech. This study examines policies, control measures, and punishment for hoax spreaders in the South Sumatra Regional Police jurisdiction. This research employs qualitative research using empirical studies and a legal, sociological framework. This research aims to contribute to the corpus of literature and information regarding the perpetrators of spreading false news (hoax) at the South Sumatra Regional Police. The findings of this study reveal that criminal law enforcement against fake news spreaders (hoaxes) in the South Sumatra Regional Police have procedures or efforts to resolve cases of fake news (hoax); the procedure includes receiving reports/complaints, investigations, investigations, sending SPDP (Notice of Commencement of Investigation), sending case files, and transferring suspects and evidence. Law enforcement entities involved in combating fake news are the Police, Prosecutors, and Judges. This research provides the latest data in 2022 regarding cases of spreading fake news (Hoax) in the South Sumatra Regional Police.

Semiotic analysis of gender bias in news coverage of Reog Ponorogo art 对 Reog Ponorogo 艺术新闻报道中性别偏见的语义分析

The focus of this research is to analyse the semiotic meaning conceptualised by Roland Barthes, which includes denotative and connotative meanings. This also delves into the myths constructed by the media-related representation of gender switching in Jathil Dancers in Reog Ponorogo and its relationship with the Media Coverage of Gemblak. Researchers extracted data by collecting news from mass media portals that discussed Gemblak Ponorogo. The results showed that mass media significantly maintains people's views on culture and tradition. In Roland Barthes' semiotic analysis, some media employ negative language that can influence a negative view of Gemblak. The media, with its point of view, news sources, and characterisation of those in the news, can significantly affect people's perceptions, and it continues to maintain these assumptions until now.

Participatory communication strategies for poverty alleviation in remote indigenous communities 偏远土著社区参与式扶贫传播战略

This study investigates the poverty alleviation approach employed by social services in Medan and the influence of remote indigenous community projects. Poverty results in several social and economic issues, underscoring the importance of identifying and implementing effective strategies to alleviate these challenges. This study investigates the impact of moral communication and social support on poverty reduction. It assesses the effectiveness of social support for communities using integrated data on prosperous families (in Bahasa called DTKS). The study employed a descriptive qualitative research methodology. The researchers obtained data by conducting interviews, observations, and analysing documents. Social services employ Islamic communication strategies to address poverty, encompassing various forms of social assistance. Only localities with integrated data on prosperous families can receive this funding. Social services employ this approach to diminish poverty and empower the community. For isolated indigenous tribes, social services extend beyond Islamic communication to implement policies that provide practical vocational training programmes that promote work integration and technical oversight. This study examines the utilisation of Islamic communication and social agencies' assistance to combat poverty. It also provides guidance for policies and activities specifically targeted towards indigenous communities. These discoveries can provide valuable insights for shaping future social service practices and regulations.

Sustainable marketing dilemmas: moral, ethical, and practical in business communication perspectives 可持续营销困境:商业传播视角下的道德、伦理和实践

Abstract In recent years, corporations' sustainable marketing practices have gone beyond just selling mere products or services and present significant challenges. This study examines the moral, ethical, and practical challenges encountered by sustainable marketing, specifically from the standpoint of business communication. This research explains the notion of sustainable marketing and discerns its ethical dilemmas by examining the current body of scholarly literature. The discussion focuses on stakeholder theory, ethical consumerism, and communication theories. The study employs a qualitative research methodology, gathering data through comprehensive interviews and case analysis. The participants comprise marketing professionals, consumers, and companies that place sustainability as a top priority. The findings illustrate that organisations face many moral and ethical challenges while creating and executing sustainable marketing strategies. For example, challenges arise when trying to balance the desire for genuineness and openness and the success of marketing communications, as well as conflicts between moral evaluations and business goals. These challenges substantially impact the company's communication strategy, as they are directly connected to consumer trust and brand image. This study offers valuable insights for companies creating and implementing sustainable marketing strategies. It highlights the crucial role of managing moral and ethical factors to achieve long-term success. Moreover, the discoveries can aid policymakers and regulatory agencies formulate criteria and recommendations to foster sustainable corporate practices.

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) communication is a conduit for companies to engage with the public. This research delves into millennials’ digital CSR communication expectations from Indonesian unicorn companies. Digital CSR initiatives aim to bridge the gap between corporate needs and public expectations. Public expectations encompass beliefs, attitudes, and anticipations. The study focuses on five Indonesian unicorn companies—Gojek, Tokopedia, OVO, Traveloka, and Bukalapak. Data collection involved interviews with millennials who follow the Instagram accounts of unicorn companies. Findings reveal diverse millennial expectations generated through CSR communication on Instagram, spanning visual message representation, media utilisation, and prospective CSR programs. Storytelling emerges as a pivotal method for conveying expectations via Instagram accounts. Moreover, Instagram is not the sole medium utilised for CSR communication. Follower interest underscores the necessity for sustained, long-term CSR programs. Positive engagement, such as likes, shares, and comments, represents a tangible manifestation of the millennials’ positive response to the content shared by these companies.

Maintaining sustainable use of the Indonesian telecommunications provider 保持对印度尼西亚电信供应商的可持续利用

This research investigates customer behaviour in the Indonesian telecommunications sector using Structural Equation Modelling with Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) analysis. Surveying 101 respondents, the study explores the relationships between service quality, service attributes, pricing, satisfaction, and customer intentions to reuse telecom products. Key insights include the significant influence of competitive pricing (price value) on customer retention (continuance to use). Interestingly, customer satisfaction doesn't directly impact the continuance of use, suggesting other factors like network quality might be more pivotal. However,  customer  satisfaction enhances price value, emphasising its role in perceived service value. Additionally, service quality is a significant determinant of customer satisfaction, and service attributes play a crucial role in shaping perceived value and satisfaction levels. Overall, this research offers valuable insights and strategic recommendations for telecom companies in the Indonesian market, emphasising pricing, service quality, and network attributes as key drivers of customer behaviour.

Working with limitations: social media management in local government on Solo region 克服局限:梭罗地区地方政府的社交媒体管理

Government communication plays an important role in the two-way relationship between government and society. The development of social media platforms fulfills the information function for the government. The model of using social media is important in connection with the implementation of good governance in the administration of government. The method used in this research is qualitative. In particular, the researchers conducted an FGD (Focus Group Discussion) with the Solo Raya government to obtain information related to social media management. The result of this research is that social media is currently a platform that is often used by the government of the City of Solo Raya to provide information to the public. The function of social media is still minimal to 1) build program support and legitimacy, 2) identify and respond to community needs. 3) Define government services and provide government accountability mechanisms.
