This paper is part of an ongoing research on the subject of Quechuan loanwords in spoken Colombian Spanish based on materials of the alec. The article offers a revision of the works, methods and perspectives that have addressed this matters to the date. The topic has some relevance on the description of Colombian varieties of Spanish since these Quechuan loanwords function as dialectal markers, given that Quechuan family has been identified as the source of most of the indigenous loanwords that characterize Colombian Spanish.

The present study examines verb forms ending in -ra and -se in Mexican Spanish from 1700 to 1833. As opposed to previous research on the topic (Acevedo, 1997; Martínez, 2000, 2001; Wilson, 1983) and its leaning towards linguistic and sociopolitical factors, I stand for the analysis of discourse traditions for a better understanding of how linguistic change spreads in this specific dialect. Based on data extracted from Cordiam, descriptive statistical analyses have been performed in simple (saliera, saliese) and compound tenses (hubiera y hubiese salido). Regarding the first tense linguistic variables (type of sentence, meaning and subject of verb form) do not constrain the presence of a certain variant. However, a higher frequency of saliera is observed in legal and private documents, usually close to oral features. As for the compound verb tenses -ra reveals a greater degree of consolidation in this period.

This article presents a relationship between dialectological and sociolinguistic facts from the analysis of phonological processes based on two sources —the Atlas of Antioquia and the PRESEEA-Medellín Corpus, in order to find dialect convergences from rural to urban in segmental phenomena from Spanish spoken in Antioquia, Colombia. It starts with a question: what phonological processes found in the speech of Antioquia converge in the speech of Medellín? As a result, the Andean ALA (Lingüístic Atlas of Antioquia) Corpus of phonological processes was created, in which 741 cases of phonological variation were identified and 11 thousand occurences of phonological processes were systematized from 36 semidirected interviews of the PRESEEA-Medellín Corpus. The contrast of phonological processes between these two sources allowed to identify the similarities of phonic phenomena of speech, their exemplification and the description of phonic patterns. Finally, the spirantization of / d /, the pluralization of haber and the antihiatic tendency of / ea / were defined as convergent processes of high frequency, whose neutral assessment ease its spreading. The fact that these processes are noticed as aspects shared by other close varieties, such as Bogota’s speech, could represent a trend towards an Andean urban leveling.

The verbal items disfrutar and gozar in Spanish share similar meanings and also resemble each other in switching from a transitive to an intransitive frame with a prepositional phrase complement. However, this was not always the case. In the oldest recordings of the Spanish language, indeed, there appear two lexical forms which, besides their opposition from a syntactic point of view (transitive vs. prepositional verb), express rather distinct types of events (gathering crops vs experiencing pleasure). These data motivate the hypothesis that a process of mutual attraction must have taken place in the course of time. In the present work, covering the Medieval period of Spanish, we study the behavior of disfrutar and gozar, focusing on the syntactic and semantic properties that keep them separated, while simultaneously paying attention to certain phenomena which, in retrospect, foreshadow their history of gradual convergence. In order to provide a full picture of their medieval uses, we will appeal to the figures of metaphor and metonymy, the mechanism of subjectification (Traugott, 1989) and the role played by horizontal relations in linguistic change (De Smet, 2012).
