Employees’ performance is a very crucial factor to the company, as for now; there are many companies who support their workers to work from home rather than working in the office, due to COVID-19 Pandemic. Therefore, the researchers want to study the impact of control, satisfaction and distraction over working environment that might have certain impacts on employees’ performance. The unit of analysis in this study were made up of 133 employees in selected industries in Malaysia which are from manufacturing, education, public administration and also hospitality sector. The respondents are four states in Peninsular Malaysia which are Terengganu, Johor, Pulau Pinang and Selangor. The data was gathered using self-administered questionnaires by using a seven point likert-scale. The data collected then will be analysed using SPSS 20 for two analysis statistic, including inferential statistics and descriptive analysis. The results from this study shows that working environment, distraction in working environment, control over working environment and satisfaction over working environment do have a positive impact towards employees’ performance. Social distancing requirements during the COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated the adoption of remote e-working (Banerjee, 2020). In practice, remote workers’ mental health and wellbeing has received incremental attention (Price, 2018; Russell, 2019)- particularly among academics (Han et al., 2020; Mohamed et al., 2020). The prevalence of remote e-working practices among academics prior to the pandemic (Aczel et al., 2021), prolonged exposure to remote e-working due to campus closures (Ross, 2021); as well as abruptly remodelled expectations of higher education (El-Azar, 2022) resulted in high demands among academics (Cao et al., 2020). According to De Gruyter (2020), academics have experienced stress, insecurity and pressure as collaborative networks, shift to online teaching and supervision, as well as work-life balance were disrupted. Theoretically, few studies have adopted the job demands-resources theory as a framework to understand and promote occupational wellbeing and performance in remote e- working environments (Bilotta et al., 2021). This indicates that existing models predicting outcomes of telecommuting could have been flawed. Empirical studies have equally produced conflicting outcomes of remote e-working (Grant et al., 2019; Santuzzi & Barber, 2018) .

Office of Strategy Management (OSM) is an important agency that is expected to coordinate strategy implementation process between the corporate and departmental level (Kaplan and Norton, 2005). Over the years, there have been increasing studies reported in the literature on the development and implementation aspect of the strategies embarked in the public sector domain. However, to date little has been reported in the literature on how the OSM is holding on in the strategy implementation phase in the public sector setting, thus, this study intends to understand the perceived roles undertaken by OSM and the meanings of its existence in strategy implementation process in the public sector environment. Hence, it is hopeful that, this research could shed light on the roles performed by the OSM and find ways of strengthening the Office further in the public sector. A qualitative case study approach on the OSM of a government ministry in Brunei is selected for this research project. The studied ministry is purposely chosen because it is one of the earliest adopters of Performance Management System via Balanced Scorecard (BSC) approach. The primary instrument used in this research is face-to-face interviews. The interviewees comprise of departmental officers across the ministry including officers from the OSM. Documentation analysis was also deployed that complement main research instrument deployed. The main findings captured are cross-validated among interviewees and research instruments so as to verify their exact meanings. Finally, the emerging theoretical development is further clarified and confirmed by telling the storyline to the later interviewees. Keywords: Office of Strategy Management; Strategy Management; Performance Management; Public sector; South East Asia.

This study aims to empirically examine the effect of credit risk on bank performance through capital adequacy (CAR) as a mediator. Where capital adequacy (CAR) is a new concept developed from the synthesis of monetary theory, financial intermediation theory, agency theory and bank risk management, as an effort to mediate the research gap between the influence of credit risk on bank performance. This study uses panel data with 35 companies as samples and uses a research period from 2013 to 2020. The analytical tool used in this research is PLS-SEM with WarpPLS 7.0 application. The results of the study explain the two rejected hypotheses, namely the effect of NPL on ROA and the effect of GWM on CAR, but the role of CAR as a mediator of the research gap in this study is the relationship between the effect of NPL on ROA and CAR as a partial mediator. Keywords: Reserve Requirment, bank risk management, return on asset, financial Intermediation Theory.

The world was recently put to the test by the covid-19 outbreak, the impacts of which are still being felt today. Apart from the economics, the pandemic has ramifications in areas such as medical and health, community social, tourism and travel, psychology and mental health, as well as laying apparent impacts on education and higher education sectors. Face-to-face teaching and learning methods for qiraat courses are being switched online or virtually. The emergence of the Covid-19 virus appears to be pressuring the global community, including Malaysia, to incorporate digital technology more broadly, resulting in a digital explosion in Malaysia. Hence, this study aims to investigate the dimensions of students on the usage of technology medium in qiraat course during COVID-19, with a focus on students in Darul Quran, JAKIM. This study is a qualitative study in the form of a case study through focus group discussions (FGD) since it meets the objectives of the study. According to the findings of the study, there are four themes that serve as the foundation for analysing the usage of technology among students in Darul Quran during COVID-19, with Google Meet serving as the technological medium of choice for students in their TnL sessions. Keywords: Students’ Dimensions; Technology medium; qiraat; Covid-19; Darul Quran JAKIM (DQ).

The global crisis brought about by COVID-19 pandemic altered the teaching-learning situation in all levels of the Philippine educational system. Teachers from the tertiary level resorted to online teaching with different learning modalities. Thus, this study aimed to examine the perceptions of teachers trying to achieve job satisfaction, employers’ support, and work-life balance affected by working space and students’ attitudes while teaching online during the global crisis. Data were gathered from 256 respondents from seven colleges and universities using Google form link. Smart PLS was used in the statistical treatment of data. Findings revealed the following: Lack of employers’ support has a negative impact on job satisfaction; working space affects job satisfaction; Job satisfaction is negatively influenced by work-life balance (WLB); Work-life balance is positively influenced by working space; there is a negative link between students’ attitudes and work-life balance; Working space has a positive impact on teaching online; there is a negative link between students’ attitudes and teaching online; and there is a link between teaching online and employers’ support towards job satisfaction. Therefore, despite students’ negative attitude, teachers are still satisfied with their online teaching job if supported by their employers; given conducive space for working; and are able to balance their job with their family life. It is recommended that more schools be encouraged to participate in the survey to validate the researchers’ findings. Keywords: attitudes; employers’ support ; work-life balance; work satisfaction; working space

The job market is particularly sensitive to the increasing pace of globalization and technological development. Against this changing backdrop, there has also been a rapid increase in the practice of online recruitment, with recruiters going on the Internet, especially social media, to seek and hire candidates for job positions. This not only allows them to accumulate a highly qualified pool of talent but it also ensures a smooth recruitment experience for the candidate. The result is a win-win situation that facilitates the swift and low-cost recruitment of candidates with the right service mindset who are ready to serve their new organizations. However, one challenge is presenting itself to the HR managers of both public and private service organizations, namely identifying the best candidates through a job application process that is inherently impersonal. Using Kuwait, a developing country, as a case study, this work examines the attitudes and perceptions of HR employees and managers concerning online recruitment. Keywords: Online recruitment, Recruitment, Human resource management, Perceptions.

Equity in education refers to the facts that personal and social circumstances are not obstacles to achieving educational potential, and all individuals able to reach at least a basic minimum level of skills Equality in education, on the other hand, insinuates the important role in assisting deprived students and schools The main governing policy of education in Malaysia, the 1996’s Education Act 550, states that two main goals to be achieved in the nation’s educational system are equality and equitable provision. In order to be equal in education, the governance and the educators must provide the children with same educational opportunities regardless of their socio-economic background, genders, races, geographical location, and physical or mental disabilities. On the other hand, equity in education is highlighting that personal and social circumstances are not obstacles to achieving educational potential, and all individuals able to reach at least a basic minimum level of skills. This paper discusses the issues and challenges in providing both equal and equitable access of primary school education in Malaysia. Keywords: Education, equality, equity, primary school, Malaysia.

This paper is novel as it examines public listed companies’ dividend payments and consistency in status as Shariah Compliant by the Securities Commissions in the Malaysian capital market. The study also analyses the efficiency of managers to generate revenues by comparing both shariah and non-shariah compliant companies to determine the occurrences of agency conflicts. The sample of collected data were extracted from the Refinitiv Eikon Database from the 2016 until 2020 in various industries in Bursa Malaysia. The ANOVA test shows that both the Shariah and non-Shariah compliant companies pay dividends to their shareholders between 29 to 35 % on returns average. Interestingly, the decisions to pay the shareholders show that the shariah compliant companies are more likely to pay out dividends as compared to the non-shariah counterparts. Revenue generation is also found to be higher by 62 %. Overall, shariah compliant companies demonstrate statistically significant higher dividend with better usage of asset or lower agency conflicts in Malaysia. The performance of high school students in Mathematics has a direct link to a country's scientific and technological advancement. The students' ability in Mathematics and Sciences is critical to their social and economic well-being (Othman, Yusof, & Mahmood, 2012 & Reddy, et al., 2015). According to the 2015 TIMMS report, the slow rate of change in the context conditions contributes to the country's levels of poverty and nature of inequality, and this rate of change is insufficient to meet the country's educational expectations and needs (Reddy, et al., 2016). Reddy, et al. conclude in the 2019 TIMMS report that the rate of improvement in Mathematics has slowed (Reddy, et al., 2020). The analysis of the Grade 12 National Senior Certificate Results from 2016 to 2019 of the high schools in the Phambela Circuit, revealed that learners' performances in Mathematics have had a negative impact on the overall pass rate of Grade 12 learners, within each high school, in the Phambela Circuit. Furthermore, parents expressed concern that the low Mathematics pass rate will prevent their children from enrolling in Mathematics and Science-related courses at institutions of higher learning. It is in this context, the researchers set out to investigate the status of teaching and learning of Mathematics in the Phambela Circuit and explore possible strategies that would assist to improve its teaching and learning.
