This article´s objective is to understand the application of the Teaching Case methodology, in order to verify to what extent this methodology can be considered an innovative educational practice. Thereunto, it is adopted the Study Case to analyze the application of the Teaching Case in students of the Germinare School. The study demonstrates the contribution of the Study Case method for the teaching-learning process in four categories: i) practical learning; ii) theories subordinated to practice; iii) interesting challenge; iv) commitment. The results indicate that the Teaching Case articulates the four categories and therefore, corroborates with the Practice-Based Studies.

Technology has accelerated the process of change, giving rise to new ways of working. This study seeks to explore the perspectives of careers by relating them to university backgrounds and new technologies, based on women's perception. The research was applied in the first cycles of 7 undergraduate courses, with 148 respondent students. The results indicate an optimistic view regarding the future of the woman's career, but there are contrasts, such as the degree of knowledge of some technical terms. From the results, a proposal for the Women's Career Perception Index – WCPI was developed.

This study aimed to recognize the entrepreneurial competencies of owners of accounting services companies. The research, descriptive in nature, had a quantitative approach, applying a self-completion questionnaire based on the McClelland model (1973), which highlights the entrepreneurial competencies in the sets of achievement, planning, and Power. The respondents were 364 owners of accounting service companies located in the State of Santa Catarina. The results showed that the search for opportunity competence was the one that stood out the most in the achievement set. In the planning set, systematic planning and monitoring predominated. Finally, in the power set, the competence with the highest average was persuasion and networking.

A characterization of innovation for companies that are already entering or entering the market shows a dynamic movement in a circular movement that, both can generate new organizations and create a new market for existing organizations, or eliminate them, concretizing or process of creative destruction. The paper approach was directed to the concept of disruptive innovation and its characterization in popular health clinics. A research, multi-method, exploratory and descriptive was carried out through structured interviews, using as a method to analyze lexicometry and its modalities. From data analysis, it was identified that popular clinics have disruptive potential.

In this study, we assess business managers’ perception of alcoholism effects in the working environment. This quantitative, descriptive and cross sectional study was conducted through questionnaires addressed to 36 companies in service and manufacturing industries. Main findings revealed that, although alcoholism was considered as a problem by investigated companies, only 22% implemented policies to help alcoholic workers, and only 8% had policies to prevent alcoholism. Within companies the common prevalent attendant issues were absenteeism, delays and workplace accidents. As practical contribution this study identified the importance of prevention programs related to alcohol use in working places.

This paper presents the result of a study that assessed the use of cash in retail transactions in the city of São Paulo and the influence of individuals´ sociodemographic condition and transaction value on the likelihood of paying with banknotes. Respondents were selected by quota sampling process based on their sociodemographic profiles. The analyses were carried out using Pearson´s chi-squared test, as well as estimates from probit models. The results indicated that 56% of the respondents´ last purchases were settled in cash, and that both the transaction value and the buyer´s sociodemographic condition influence the likelihood of using banknotes.

This research aimed to understand how elitist thinking takes place regarding music consumption in Brazil. Fifteen music professionals were interviewed, as they were considered individuals with high cultural capital in the subject. The results showed that, although cultural elitism in relation to music is on the way to being softened, it is still very present in Brazilian society, being strongly supported by cultural and social issues. Even if implicitly, a notion of good and bad musical taste can be observed from the (de)valuation of certain musical styles, especially by people professionally involved in the musical world.
