This research investigates the types of directive speech acts in the movie "Fall" which was released in 2022. The data in this research were taken from the utterances produced by the characters in the movie "Fall". This study uses a descriptive qualitative method from Creswell (2018), because the data are in the form of words and phrases. The theory from Yule (1996) was applied to identify the types of directive speech acts in the data sources. Then, this research applies the theory from Sudaryanto (2015) about the observation method and non- participation techniques used to collect data from the movie. The results showed that there were 21 directive speech act data in the movie "Fall". And the 10 data are divided into 5 types of directive speech acts. Those were 3 command data, 7 command data, 5 request data, 4 suggestion data, and 2 suggestion data. The type of request is the most used type of directive speech act in the movie "Fall" 2022.

This study aims to investigate the figurative language in most popular product review of makeup in Nikki Tutorials in Youtube channel. The data were the existing utterances delivered by the content creator. This research used the theory semantic of figurative language from Perrine (2018) to categorize the utterance that appeared in the data source into the function and reason of figurative language. A qualitative research design was employed in conducting this study followed by document analysis and observation as the instruments. This research used observational method that theorized by Sudaryanto (2015), to collect the data in the product review. The result showed that the kind of figurative language was separated into twelve types there are simile, metaphor, personification, apostrophe, metonymy, symbol, allegory, paradox, overstatement, understatement, synecdoche, and irony and the reason of figurative language specifically imaginative pleasure, bringing additional imagery, additional emotional intensity, and saying in brief compass. Related to the types, the researcher found 42 data that contains the kind of figurative language. There were 21 data of hyperbole, 4 data of simile, 1 data of metaphor, 7 data of personification, 2 data of apostrophe, 1 data of metonymy, 2 data of symbol, 2 data of paradox, 2 data of understatement. Whereas the reason of figurative language, the researchers found 30 data. 25 data increase emotional intensity, 2 data bringing additional imagery, 2 data saying in brief compass, 1 data afford imaginative pleasure. Moreover, the most used in the kind of figurative language is hyperbole whereas the reason of figurative language is increase emotional intensity which always appeared in the data analysis.

Present research discusses student satisfaction with the English subject by using hybrid learning. This learning system is a learning adjustment process during Covid-19. High schools in Batam have implemented hybrid learning focusing on English subjects. This research aims to find out student satisfaction with hybrid learning by giving the predictive factor that has been provided and how students develop their English subject. The subjects of this research are 214 high school students in Batam, consisting of 20 schools. This study used a mixed method in which the data collection was done through questionnaires and interviews. This study provides factors in the form of satisfaction with hybrid learning, student's rate the computer literacy, student's perception toward the instructor and online learning, and the data from the questionnaire are strengthened by an interview result. The results showed that students rated computer literacy as the most satisfactory category, with an average of 4.33. Students' perceptions of teachers entered the category satisfied with an average score of 3.95, students' perceptions of online learning were also satisfied with an average score of 3.91, and students' attitudes towards hybrid learning were satisfied with an average value of 3.90. The interview results showed that each factor supported students in developing their English language learning. Each factor has advantages and disadvantages for developing English using hybrid learning.

the impact of teachers’ active involvement level at mgmp of english and their perception pedagogical competence as english teacher English Teacher in Maros Regency, Thesis. English Department Faculty of Postgraduate Makassar Muhammadiyah University. This research aimed to know the correlation teachers’ active at MGMP and Perception pedagogic competence as English Teacher in Maros Regency. This research used a quantitative method with correlation approach. The data source of this research was primary data from ofa questionnaire and the subject of this research was 60 English teachers in Maros Regency.. Based on the data analysis, it can be concluded that teachers’ activeness involvement level at MGMP simultaneously has high correlation and their pedagogic competence. It can be described further, as the following: First from the data analysis, it is known that the significance value of Teachers’ activeness involvement at MGMP. So it can be concluded that teachers’ activeness involvement at MGMP is active to follow the MGMP activities. Second from the data analysis, it is known that the significance value of Teachers’ perception pedagogic competence. The explanation that teachers’ perception pedagogic competence of MGMP is very good. Third from the data analysis, it is known that the significance value of Teachers’ activeness involvement at MGMP (X) and teachers’ perception pedagogic competence (Y) is equal 0.01 < 0.05. This means that there is influence X (activeness involvement at MGMP) and Y (teachers’ perception pedagogic competence) have significant correlation. The result of the research showed that the teacher activeness in MGMP had positive effects, active teachers’ perception pedagogic competence also had positive effect, and the correlation teachers activeness and their perception pedagogic competence showed a significant positive relationship value of 0.01 is smaller than 0.05

This research was aimed in increasing students` speaking skill by using Hallo Application based on android smartphone which the students able to use it everywhere. The research used pre-experimental design which used one group pre-test and post-test. The research was planned by using of hallo application as instrument and learning support. In implementation, the researcher made planning, treatment, evaluating and reflecting in every meeting. The result of this research from paired sample test showed the result of the analytical comparisons using t-test. The output shows the average before and after the test (-20,900), standard deviation (4,773), mean standard error (0,871). The bottom difference (-22.682), while the top difference (-19,117). The result of the t test = (-23,983) with a df of 29 and a significance of 0,000. Mean score were higher after teaching using Hallo Application. This means that Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected. In conclusion, the use of Hallo Application is an effective strategy that will use to teach class XI of Senior High School Students.

This study aims to determine students' understanding of reading skills using the English stories application. The method used in this study was Quasi Experimental Design with 20 students at SMPN 10 Palopo as research subjects. Pretest and posttest techniques to collect data in this study. One of the teaching materials used is a story that is in the application with the theme of fable stories with the title the little mouse. Reading comprehension activities last 15 minutes. After that, students are asked questions about the contents of the story for evaluation using a written test. The results of the study showed that there was an activity to improve reading comprehension skills in class VIII students of SMPN 10 Palopo, as evidenced by the processing of the test results given to students. Thus it can be concluded that using the English stories application can improve students' reading comprehension skills significantly. Keywords: English stories,Application,Reading Comprehension

The objective of this research is to identify direct and indirect apologizing speech acts in the utterances of the characters in the movie "Venom let there be carnage". The data source for this study was taken from a movie entitled "Venom let there be carnage" in which many apologizing speech acts are found in it. The method used is a qualitative method. The theory used to identify apologizing speech acts was put forward by Searle & Vanderveken (1985) while to identify the direct and indirect used by the characters in the film using the theory put forward by Yule (1996). The results of this research found 14 types of apologizing speech acts consisting of 12 direct uses and 2 indirect uses.
