Optical quality GaSe crystals with diameter of 10 mm have been grown by modified Bridgman method using unusual oscillating temperature regime in the middle zone at the level of crystallization front. Cleaved surface (001) has been evaluated by SEM and AFM. Basic cleaved surface with area up to ~200 mm2 is flat with as low rms parameter as 0,3 nm. Such local defects as hillocks up to 35 nm and mesostructure are observed by SEM and AFM.

A hardware model of the input converter with high-frequency intermediate link at the rated load are given in this paper. The input converter is a part of an off-line power-supply system and consists of controlled rectifier and DC/DC converter. The implementation of high-frequency power circuit is based on a modular approach.

In article results of laboratory researches on studying of influence of frequency of an ultrasonic atomizer on changing of phytotoxicity of not selective system herbicide on the basis of N-(phosphonomethyl)-glycine (glyphosate) are presented. Joint application of herbicide, organic acids in midget concentration and ultrasonic atomization with frequency 22 kHz has led to inhibition of all live plants at lower concentration of herbicide in a solution and has allowed to lower norm of entering of herbicide on 40 %. Applying of ultrasonic atomization with frequency of 2.5 MHz has led to hydrolysis N-(phosphonomethyl)-glycine and decrease in its phytotoxicity.

In order to show that the presence of high optical fields near the surface of the agglomerates of nanoparticles may lead to lower of lasing dye energy threshold and increase its efficiency, lasing was studied experimentally in a thin layer of laser dye R6G with nanoparticles of Ag, Al, Ni, without manifestations of random laser medium and the effect of the plasmon resonance.

Nanocrystals of h-WO3 (P6/mmm, PDF 33-1387) with uncommon morphology of nanoplates with ~10 nm thickness and up to 200 nm in diameter have been precipitated with nitric acid from aqua ammonium tungstate solution. The h - β phase transition occurs at T= 385°C as it have been established with DTA and XRD measurements. IR and Raman spectra have been recorded for precipitated and calcined phases. These crystals show some specific features explained as an effect of uncommon micromorphology and nanosize range geometry.

The problem of DC motor speed controller design for electric locomotive equipped by multi-level DC-DC converter is discussed where control system consists of two feedback loops. In the first one the armature current control for DC motor is provided by means of pulse-width modulated control for multi-level DC-DC converter. In the second one the DC motor speed control is maintained. Proportional-integral (PI) controllers are designed for armature current and motor speed based on singular perturbation technique such that multi-time-scale motions are artificially induced in the closed-loop system. Numerical simulations are included in order to show the efficacy of the proposed design methodology.

Study of silicon nanocrystal (Si-nc) formation in SiOx layers during high temperature annealing was fulfilled by Monte Carlo simulation. Role of silicon monoxide in the process of cluster nucleation and growth was analyzed. Dependencies of Si-nc size, number of clusters on temperature and annealing time for open and closed systems were obtained. Simulation demonstrated that presence of silicon monoxide increased critical nucleus size and could accelerate Si-nc aggregation rate.
