As trainers at the nursing training institute (Ifsi) at the Rouen Normandy University Hospital Center (CHU), we have developed a program to support students in building self-confidence, a crucial factor in their well-being during training, learning, and the development of their professional identity. Based on the observation that students are vulnerable to the challenges of training, a survey was conducted to identify needs and develop this project. The project, which takes the form of workshops designed to develop self-esteem, emotional regulation, and assertive communication, has already borne fruit, as initial feedback highlights a beneficial impact on the development of assertiveness among the students concerned, paving the way for new perspectives in terms of support.
In France, the Assize Court is a departmental criminal court with jurisdiction to try, at first instance or on appeal, persons accused of committing a crime punishable by more than 20 years' imprisonment, i.e., the most severe penalties. Crimes are the most serious offenses. The Assize Court is composed of professional judges and citizens selected at random, known as jurors. The latter form the jury. Jurors, who are discovering criminal justice from the inside, may be all the more psychologically affected by the elements of these criminal trials because the proceedings are oral and they have no knowledge of the cases before the hearings in which they sit.
Registered nurses (RNs) are healthcare professionals responsible for caring for sick people and monitoring and administering treatments prescribed by doctors. RNs therefore play a key role in patient care and health promotion.
Nurses are primarily trained in infection control to protect patients, not to protect themselves. Indeed, there are occupational diseases of infectious origin. Immunity against hepatitis B may sometimes require a specific vaccination schedule. It was after an accident involving exposure to blood that a nurse became aware of this.
Tobacco use increases the risk of disease, death, and disability. However, quitting smoking at any age has benefits. Healthcare professionals must be involved in informing smokers and helping them quit, regardless of their age. This article describes methods for helping older smokers quit.
There are many types of occupational skin diseases that can occur in nursing environments, and they are common. The most widespread is undoubtedly irritant contact dermatitis due to exposure to physical, mechanical, or chemical irritants that are ultimately inherent in most healthcare and prevention professions. Other types of dermatitis (infectious, physical, or immunoallergic) are also worth mentioning.
Nurses are health care advisors for their patients. Some patients have work-related illnesses, whether or not they are recognized as occupational diseases. To understand a patient's situation, it is helpful to familiarize yourself with the definitions of the categories of work-related illnesses.
From tuberculosis to Covid-19, measles, irritants, and allergens, healthcare workers are exposed to respiratory diseases. Hospital hygiene measures and individual and collective prevention are all ways to combat these diseases.
