3-гAbstract. The paper analyzes emotive tactics as part of the linguistic didactic model of an online class of Russian as a foreign language (RFL). The authors describe the linguistic didactic model of an online RFL class, analyze communicative effects of using the model in E-learning, pinpoint difficulties arising from using the model, and present a list of optimal emotive techniques that ensure the desired communicative effect on students in the process of teaching Russian to speakers of Taiwanese. The method of research is an experiment.

The educational possibilities of the Urals attract foreign students from both near and far abroad countries. There appears a need for effective interethnic communication during educational process. The authors put forward the hypothesis that the development of a tolerant personality at the university is possible when a systemic joint work of representatives of various ethnic communities is organized. The authors focus on such concepts as polycultural education, a multicultural educational environment and a tolerant personality. The experimental part of the study is conducted among undergraduate students of the Ural State University of Economics. It allows presenting the principles of interethnic interaction and the four blocks of the model as well as conditions and methods of development of a tolerant personality. The authors conclude that modern Russian education should take into account the multiethnic structure of society. It should be based on the exchange of cultural heritage aimed at the development of a tolerant personality.

The paper deals with the issues of constructing a supranational identity in the Austrian Empire. Originally being a reaction to revolutionary ideas transferred from France throughout Europe, conservative ideology appeared to influence the political development of Austria until the downfall of Habsburg monarchy in 1918. The early Austrian conservatism referred to a significant patriotic myth, based on the loyalty towards the ruling dynasty and their empire, represented as the “family of peoples”. The philosophical, political and historical works published by Friedrich von Gentz, Adam von Müller Nitterdorf and Joseph von Hormayr turned into a base for “Dynastic patriotism” with supranational patterns aimed to integrate all the involved peoples into members of the Empire. The myth included the specially constructed historical narrative, political and social philosophy, and the theological support. The myth became a ground for conservative political course of Clemens von Metternich and Francis I and made an impact on the further development of the national problem in the Empire, the Austrian political culture, the German politics of Vienna, and the further development of the AustroPrussian dualism in Germany.

The problem of preparing students for intercultural interaction in conditions of a subjectlanguage integrated environment is quite relevant, and in theory and practice some experience has been gained in this process. The authors address the idea of the complex use of various methodological approaches in the study of certain pedagogical phenomena, as the most effective and therefore popular in modern pedagogical science. The paper emphasizes the idea that the complex of methodological approaches allows obtaining diverse characteristics of the studied phenomena. The widespread complexity of pedagogical phenomena is noted, implying that they cannot and should not be studied from one point of view. Based on this, the authors conclude that the multifaceted consideration of such a multifactorial phenomenon as the preparation of students for intercultural interaction in the context of the subjectlanguage integrated environment is provided by a set of four mutually complementary approaches: systemic, activity, cultural and integrative ones.

The analysis of modern publications on the adaptation of foreign students to the conditions of studying in Russia revealed the primary attention to social and psychological problems. This article presents a study conducted at Northern State Medical University of Arkhangelsk (NSMU) aimed at describing the linguocultural adaptation of the foreign students. The results of the survey allow to establish the main criteria for the successful linguocultural adaptation and to identify problems associated with the insufficiently effective organisation of the cultural life of foreign students and the difficulties of their study trips. It also contains recommendation on improving the website of the educational institution.

This article examines a number of Irishlanguage tropes operating in three literary texts: Brian Friel’s play Translations, first performed in 1980; Nuala Ní Dhomnaill’s poetry collection, Northern Lights (2018); and the poet Doireann Ní Gríofa’s bilingual Lies (2018). The title of this article derives from the association between these tropes of linguistic loss, and apocalyptic imagery – an association bolstered by an on-going debate on the viability of the language in contemporary Ireland.

This paper presents results of research aimed at accent elimination in students of the Russian philology from northeastern Podlaskie Voivodeship – a region on the Polish-Belarusian border. With crosslinguistic and intra-linguistic influence, linguistic competence development in phonetics for all groups of bilinguals is a precondition for successful learning of Russian as a foreign language.

This paper deals with the methods and challenges of teaching a German online course to nonnative speakers of German at a British university based on the theory of multiliteracies by the New London Group described in 1996. The course aims to provide knowledge concerning, for example, the German grammar, exercises for listening comprehension, translation and creative writing while using authentic materials. The paper considers the course content, objectives, learning outcomes and recommendations for teaching a German online course for non-native students.

The paper discusses efficiency aspects and learning outcomes of an elective course on European multilingualism created within the framework of EU Jean Monnet Modules project. The authors argue that the course facilitated the development of European multilingualism awareness (EMA) with students. The growth of EMA level illustrated by annual students’ feedback survey analysis demonstrates effectiveness of teaching strategies applied during the course implementation – on the one hand and adequacy of the course improvement strategies – on the other.

The geographical location of Alsace (France) and its historical relationships define language situation in the region: most students speak French as well as German, and some of them know the Alsatian dialect. Besides, contemporary standards of education and professional activity require a certain level of English proficiency from students. As a result, teaching the Russian language at the Haute Alsace University is realized in the context of the regional, as well as individual multilingualism. The paper aims to highlight several difficulties (phonetic, lexical, and grammatical) which students face in the learning process and to suggest some ways to cope with these obstacles.
