The paper focuses on the correlation between the concepts “Intelligentsia” and “Intellectuals” for the British English linguo-cultural community. It presents the background on the subject from different angles of study, how the correlation between the concepts is viewed by philosophers, historians, sociologists. The purpose of the study is to research how the correlation between the two concepts is reflected in the language, by analyzing the component structures of the lexical meanings of the synonymous lexemes that name the concepts, using the method of componential analysis. The study results show that this reflection can also be viewed by investigating the contexts from the British National Corpus, by means of contrasting the sets of prepositional attributive collocates for the lexemes “Intelligentsia” and “Intellectuals”. The findings of the conducted corpus-based research reveal a tendency to specialized use of attributive collocates for the lexemes under study.

The first wave of Russian émigré writers of the 20th century has attracted attention as an internally heterogeneous phenomenon for quite a long time. There are two generations of this wave traditionally distinguished by the researchers: the older (I. Bunin, I. Shmelev, and others) and the younger (V. Nabokov, G. Gazdanov, and others). The focus, as a rule, is on the formal differences in the legacy of these writers. This publication attempts to describe the essential differences in the artistic worldview

The article considers the comparative aspect of teaching classical Russian literature of the first third of the 19th century to the students of the bachelor’s degree program based on the poetic translations and versifications of English and German writers made by the Russian poet V. Zhukovsky. Zhukovsky’s translations are interpreted in the context of E. Husserl's reader-response criticism and phenomenology using theoretical and translational universals and considering intertextual connections. The poet’s translations and versifications reveal the features of his creative individuality and national identity and open the way to the formation of Russian

In this article the authors compare indicative grammatical forms to express future semantics in Russian and German. Thus, the main method of research is comparative analysis. Both languages have two specialized forms, with future as their primary meaning, and two forms for which this meaning is syntagmatic (secondary). The authors reveal, describe and explain similarities and differences in semantics, structure and functioning of these forms in the Russian and German direct speech, used in fictional texts. German has differentiation in specialized forms with ‘absolute’ and ‘relative’ use, while Russian has no such differentiation. In Russian, specialized tense forms with future meaning are opposed in terms of their aspect in imperfective aspect Future and perfective aspect Future, whereas in German it is only possible to talk about tendencies in use of Future forms with terminative verbs. In German, non-specialized forms with a secondary future meaning are more frequently used than specialized future forms. In Russian the reverse is true.

The article is devoted to the issue of communicative language competence development. The authors are in favour of a greater emphasis on sociolinguistic component of above-mentioned competence. To carry out the experiment the researchers have implemented a project-based learning approach. The participants of the experiment were involved in the projects devoted to the English-speaking countries' cultural identity. The experiment demonstrates the efficiency of projectbased learning for the enhancement of communicative language competence.

Аbstract. The аrticle is devotеd tо thе issuе of linguistic education in Russia and in the Arkhangelsk region, in particular. The content of multilingual education is aimed at the formation of a language personality capable of successful interaction with representatives of foreign cultures. This idea corresponds to the current trends in the development of language education. The main goal of the study is to reveal the didactic potential of the “Deutsch: die erste Zweite” project in the development of multilingual education in Russia. The goal is achieved by theoretical analysis of the main educational documents, dynamics of the development of educational environment during the implementation of the project and the views of the project participants. The research results are based on the data obtained through theoretical analysis and surveys. The didactic potential of the “German the First among second foreign languages” project is associated with the implementation of the principles of teaching German as a second foreign language.

The article is devoted to illustrated books and how they influence the formation of multilingual environment. A special emphasis is made on picture books as a popular genre of children's modern literature. Visual images occupy a dominant place within modern culture and affect it profoundly. Visual narrative is becoming a new way of communication, especially in children's literature. Multicultural environment and multilingualism set new objectives for authors and illustrators of children's literature. The general purpose of the research is to highlight the picture books with the most expressive visual narrative and to solve the problems related to multilingual and multicultural environment.
