The paper aims at investigating cultural hybridity on the Internet. Cultural hybridity is considered as one of the hybridity types developed in the conditions of a new communication channel and is understood as simultaneous use of different languages in the same text. It exists both as code-switching (within a text) or codemixing (within a microtext). Quantitative and qualitative linguistic analysis of Instagram messages written by members of English, Russian and German cultures allows to reveal different levels of cultural hybridity on the Instagram: hypertextual (code switching in different messages of the same Instagram account), textual (codeswitching between the message title, the message body, the comments to the message and automatically set interface information) and micro textual (code switching and code mixing in a message or a comment).

This article represents a description of the teacher-training Master course “Multilingual Technologies of Early Childhood Development” (Kazan Federal University), aimed at guiding specialists in the field of multilingual preschool education. The focus is to emphasize the importance of multilingual education in the bilingual background of Tatarstan (Russian and Tatar languages), to outline the main directions of these master course, the specialities of its post-graduates and the skills they master during their course. To be specific, the description of one course is provided to give the clear idea of this academic programme and the opportunities students get, having opted for it. The article raises several significant problems: teaching ESL (English as a second language) in the bilingual environment, teaching English to young children, teaching English to children with developmental disorders using computer applications in teaching, introducing corresponding online course in university education.

This research is devoted to the study of the status of Euro-English a variety of English spoken in European institutions and continental Europe. Its emergence and development occur under the conditions of multilingualism and is associated with the need to have a common language for all European citizens to ensure intercultural and inter-ethnic communication. The authors reflect on the similarities and differences between British English and European English in their status, processes, vocabulary and grammar.

Modern society is a society of information. Hence, a great role of knowledge of foreign languages in use of modern information technologies is universally recognized. A general global trend to integration in economic, cultural and political spheres maintains the relevance of multilingual training. The aim of the paper is to share experience in teaching phraseology from multilingual perspective with the view of raising crosscultural awareness. The paper is focused on three basic university levels of teaching phraseology: the level of general phraseology, the level of somatic phraseology and the level of biblical phraseology. The algorithm and the materials of the paper are sure to be of use for the development of the multilingual model of poly-cultural education.

Linguistic and cultural studies have become the background for the analysis carried out in the article and give a clue to the idea of the national-cultural identity, which is reflected in the texts of German-speaking migrant discourse. The research relies on the work of German scientists who investigate the issue both in line with the traditional interpretation of migrant discourse as an intermediate cultural space of ambivalent nature, and within the framework of the new idea of intercultural Germanism. The research aims at establishing the rules according to which the text embodies the ways for the migrant authors to master the cultural space of German society and fix the forms of their identity. The authors used the general scientific method of comparative analysis and particular methods of linguo-cultural and contextual analysis. The integration of the individual consciousness of migrant writers into a new socio-cultural and linguistic space has got a systemic nature and is implemented in the language. The authors prove the urgency of the semantic opposition “native alien”, the components of which undergo an individually conditioned transformation and modification through acculturation. The language factor is proven to play the dominant role in the process of acculturation. The authors describe the forms of hybrid identity of German-speaking migrant writers, representing integration (L. Gorelik), cosmopolitan through transidentity (I. Trojanow) and integrated through a retrograde nature (E. S. Özdamar).

The intercultural orientation of modern social thought is implemented in educational policy, considering a modern university graduate as a person, not just possessing specific competences and knowledge, but also capable of cooperating and constructive multicultural dialogue, interacting with people of different cultures and knowing the system of socially significant world values. The enormous potential for this lies in the methodology of the content and language integrated learning, which is seen as an integral component of the educational process in the context of the implementation of modern documents in the field of higher education. In modern pedagogical science, considerable experience has been accumulated in preparing students of different specialities for intercultural interaction, forming and developing the tolerance, intercultural communicative competences, educating the younger generations in a multicultural world. Nevertheless, the issue of preparing students of nonlinguistic faculties for intercultural interaction in the context of the content and language integrated environment remains poorly developed today. So the main aim of our research is to consider the basic concepts of the process of preparing students of non-language faculties for intercultural interaction for determining the degree of their readiness for the adequate intercultural dialogue.

The paper deals with multilingualism, which is understood as a necessity to master another language to be able to use it at proficient level or any other below. A dialect is regarded as a primary linguistic object in relation to the national literary language, which is a secondary linguistic object. The authors use examples from the artistic discourse to contrast a dialect with the French literary language and analyze ethnic, cultural, cognitive and socioeconomic aspects of multilingualism.

This paper is the result of a study investigating the role of integrated bilingual classes in reducing interference in acquisition of German as the second foreign language. Focus groups were students of the Northern (Arctic) Federal University, Arkhangelsk. The students studied English as a first foreign language and German as a second foreign language. The aim of our study was to find a way of reducing the negative effect of English on German acquisition during speaking. Throughout the study, we applied such methods as observation, interviews of focus groups, surveys and oral testing. To achieve the aim of our research, we conducted a series of integrated classes. During the experiment, we found out that integrated class activities contributed to reducing vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation mistakes during learners’ speaking. This study can provide a basis for future research into the phenomenon of interference and the ways of overcoming it.
