[full article and abstract in Lithuanian; abstract in English] Political science and mass communication studies have proven long ago that media outlets can affect public opinion. This is especially important when political choices are made. The media can determine how the public will react to changes. In our case, we delve into a potential threat of a biased public opinion (favorable to certain business subjects, politicians or others parties) being formed. This relates to the media outlets or organizations stepping over the boundaries of ethics for a chance to make a profit from certain interested individuals, organizations or companies. This study addresses the problem of how the changes in the legislation of alcohol control have been reflected in the Lithuanian online newspapers 15min.lt, Delfi.lt and Lrytas.lt. Our study object pertains to how the changes in the law of alcohol control are being reflected. The aim of this article is to examine how these changes of law have been reflected in Lithuanian media. A qualitative case study was conducted using content analysis. The results of the research show that the abovementioned Lithuanian online newspapers reflected a rather one-sided evaluation of the law changes. Most of the changes were reflected in a negative way; there were more negative than positive publications informing about the changes. Although similar tendencies have been identified in all the online newspapers, Lrytas.lt happened to stand out. There were publications that had no clear sources of information; the authors of the publications were not mentioned as well. Furthermore, there were publications criticizing not the changes themselves but certain members of the parliament. The appliance of ethical norms was deemed to be more characteristic of Delfi.lt and 15min.lt.

Sąmokslo teorijų apie smegenų plovimą renesansas 洗脑认知理论的复兴

[full article and abstract in Lithuanian; abstract in English] The discourse of information warfare, challenges posed by adverse propaganda and political declarations about the need to protect the society from misleading information all create favorable conditions for new research on brainwashing. This article examines the new wave of studies on brainwashing, which emerged at the turn of the 21st century. An analysis of the historical context of brainwashing encourages the investigation of competitive concepts and reminds us of the negative scientific attitude toward brainwashing from the moment of its inception. The concept of brainwashing is examined as a mature conspiracy theory, which functions on three levels: the primary (or spontaneous), elite initiated (or official) and secondary (or mirror) levels. The principle aim of this article is to reveal the reasons behind the communicative vitality of brainwashing and to disclose the risks posed to democracy, which are created with the misuse of conspiracy theories and similar concepts.

[full article and abstract in Lithuanian; abstract in English] This article studies the activities and the societal role of Lithuanian women during the years of 1988 to 1992 based on the relevant periodic press and the memoirs of contemporaries. An analysis of certain organizations, such as the gathering of Catholic women “Caritas,” the Lithuanian Women’s Movement, the Women’s Revival Union, the Lithuanian Women’s Union, the Women’s Union of the Families of the Officers of Lithuanian Grand Duchess Birutė and the Lithuanian University Women Association, presented an overview of the activities of organizations from 1988 to 1992. The article assesses the circumstances of the inception of the aforementioned organizations, their benefits to society and their value both to the participants and to the public.

[full article and abstract in Lithuanian; abstract in English] Stalking is a complex social phenomenon that can take on many different forms. Stalking is a vicious, subtle and devastating crime, and the victims of stalking seem to suffer long-lasting consequences. A clear relationship emerges between the functioning and dissemination of gender stereotypes and stalking as a form of gender-based violence. In this study, the way in which stalking occurs is discussed, and the defendants’ and victims’ backgrounds are taken into account. This article discusses the criminalization of stalking, the reasons for stalking being criminalized and the sanctions applied for stalking. This article also addresses a range of issues that expressly substantiate a need for effective measures to be taken against stalking. The prevention of stalking is certainly a long process and cannot be done without the inspiration and activity from the state police, non-governmental organizations and the collaborations of victims, which are all essential if law enforcement agents are to gather useful information and understand the exact nature of the occurrences. Hence, more research needs to be conducted in this field. Additional attention, research and training are required to better understand the most effective responses to reduce the risk of recidivism.

[full article and abstract in Lithuanian; abstract in English] Public good is the basis of public interest that determines the (co)existence of the community as well as the society. The media and its role in civic society play a major role in defining public interest, and it helps in manifesting this public interest to various stakeholders. Likewise, the public’s need to know of the role of the media in the presentation, consideration and representation of the public interest is extremely important. The relevance of public interest to a society is related to meeting the needs of a society. Changes in the functions of media from a forth power or a watchdog, to a moderator of public discussions had drawn media’s attention to the need for an inquiry of public interest and discussions about it in the media. The aim of this article is to determine how public interest is presented in Lithuanian online media. This article analyzes the case of presenting the protection of the rights of heat consumers – as an interest of the public – in Lithuanian online media. This article discusses the concept of public interest, the role of the media in discussing the public interest, and, when choosing a specific public interest issue, investigates how the topic of public interest is presented in Lithuanian online media. The case of public interest raised by the representative of the society – P. Markevicius, a lawyer and member of the Žvėrynas district community in Vilnius, was selected for the case study. The case is connected with the protection of the heat consumers’ rights, as P. Markevicius had detected potential violations of consumer rights being done by Vilnius energija (the provider of heat services in Vilnius city). All publications made during the period of 2010–2012 found using the Google search engine with the keywords “P. Markevicius” and “Vilniaus energija” were selected for the case study; qualitative and quantitative content analyses were used. The case study of public interest manifested in 2010–2012 in Lithuanian online media shows that the representation of the “public interest” by the representatives of the media is understood only as a way of giving space to citizens to present their views and talk about the problems relevant to them. The case leads to some consideration that the public interest in the media and by media is mostly understood as a way of supporting active citizens by inviting them to discussions and providing time for presenting their arguments, as well the position statements of experts and officials, but without any specific journalistic investigations. The development of civil society makes it possible to assume that the raising of issues related to public interest have also made some changes in the media – there could be seen an aspiration to raise problematic issues and promote discussions. Kokybės samprata aukštajame moksle: kokybės kaip idėjos raiškos aukštųjų mokyklų strateginiuose dokumentuose analizė 高等教育中的质量观——对《高等教育战略文件》中质量观表达的分析

[straipsnis ir santrauka lietuvių kalba; santrauka anglų kalba] Kokybės samprata daugiareikšmė ir vis dar kuriama, įvairūs tyrimai skirtingose mokslo kryptyse praplečia jos analizės parametrus ir atveria erdvę naujoms įžvalgoms. Pastaruoju metu išryškinta kokybės aukštojo mokslo institucijose tyrimų linija (aktuali straipsnyje taikomoms institucionalizavimo ir perkėlimo prieigoms) susieja kokybės tematiką su aukštojo mokslo institucijų kaitos raiška. Moksliniame diskurse išryškintas socialinių dalininkų vaidmuo kokybės užtikrinimo sistemoje siejamas su sisteminiais procedūriniais mechanizmais – tyrimuose analizuojama, kokiais būdais socialiniai dalininkai yra įtraukiami į aukštojo mokslo institucijos vadybos procesus, kaip plėtojami ryšiai. Mokslinėje literatūroje išryškinamos kokybės kaip keliaujančios idėjos tyrimo prielaidos, tačiau nėra tyrinėtas kokybės kaip idėjos taikomasis perkėlimas (angl. translation) į aukštojo mokslo institucijos kontekstą. Strateginiuose dokumentuose fiksuojamos kokybės kaip idėjos reikšmės ir aukštosios mokyklos veiklos kokybės vertinimo rodikliai įgalina kokybės kaip idėjos perkėlimą į aukštojo mokslo institucijos kontekstą. Socialinių dalininkų interesų raiška veiklos rodikliuose – kokybės kaip idėjos taikomojo perkėlimo į institucinį kontekstą rezultatas. Socialinių dalininkų požiūriai į aukštąjį mokslą skiriasi, todėl kokybė kaip idėja ir jos taikomasis perkėlimas aukštojo mokslo institucijose vertinamas skirtingais veiklos rodikliais. Rodiklių visumos vertinimas tampa pagrindu, kuriuo remiantis socialiniai dalininkai išreiškia poziciją apie kokybę aukštojo mokslo institucijoje. Šio straipsnio tikslas – ištirti kokybės kaip idėjos raišką aukštojo mokslo institucijų strateginiuose dokumentuose. Siekiant šio tikslo straipsnyje analizuojama kokybės samprata aukštajame moksle pasitelkiant skandinaviškojo institucionalizmo teorinę prieigą, apibūdinamas kokybės kaip idėjos taikomasis perkėlimas į aukštojo mokslo institucijos kontekstą, taip pat tiriami Latvijos ir Lietuvos universitetų strateginiuose planuose suformuluoti kokybės indikatoriai, atspindintys skirtingus socialinių dalininkų interesus.

Communication Matters: How Do Visitors Interact with Ethnographic Open-Air Museums? 沟通问题:游客如何与民族志露天博物馆互动?

[full article, abstract in English; abstract in Lithuanian] Though the concept of an ethnographic open-air museum is not a new one, little is known about the interplay between a visitor and an amalgam museum setting. Ethnographic open-air museums are complex spaces with shared qualities of outdoor sites and indoor museums. Grounded in Gibson’s theory of affordances (1979), the article explores how visitors interact within and in relation to the hybrid space of ethnographic open-air museum and how communication shapes their interactions. The analysis is based on a qualitative study of visitors in the Belarusian State Museum of Folk Architecture and Rural Lifestyle (Aziartso, Belarus) and the Open-Air Museum of Lithuania (Rumšiškės, Lithuania). The data were collected using participatory observation and semistructured interviews with visitors. The article employs a constructivist approach and conceptualizes an ethnographic museum as a free-choice environment, where behavior patterns are linked to the institutional context and the visitors’ ability to perceive the information about the objects and environments that specified the possibilities and constraints for interacting with the museum’s space. The study reveals how cultural communication fosters the diversity of visiting scenarios and the perceptions of ethnographic open-air museums as cultural heritage sites, natural parks and stages for entertainment. The implications of this research could be relevant to cultural policymakers and communication specialists in designing the cultural, recreational and educational policies of museums.

Viena svarbiausių šiandieninės verslo organizacijos valdymo įvesčių, turinti įtakos jos sėkmingumui rinkoje – žinių vadyba, kuomet organizacijos konkurencinis pranašumas įgyjamas valdant vertingus retus, sunkiai atkartojamus išteklius – žinias, patirtį, gebėjimus, sukuriančius pridėtinę vertę organizacijoms. Pristatomuose moksliniuose tyrimuose, kuriuose analizuojamos žinių vadybos raiškos, stebimas žinių svarbos kuriant inovacijas akcentavimas. Organizacinio lygmens tyrimuose pabrėžiama, kad žinių valdymo procesų ir inovacijų kūrimo jungtis užtikrina organizacijoje vykdomų veiklų produktyvumą, sistemingas žinių kūrimas ir dalijimasis jomis skatina naujų produktų, paslaugų plėtojimą, gerina organizacinius procesus, padidina organizacijos konkurencingumą. [straipsnis ir santrauka lietuvių kalba; santrauka anglų kalba] Tinklaveikos technologijų inovacijos – turinio valdymo priemonės, socialiniai tinklai, mobiliosios programos – sudarė prielaidas auditorijoms dalyvauti kuriant ir skleidžiant žiniasklaidos turinį. Tačiau šių pokyčių pasekmės skiriasi priklausomai nuo kultūrinio konteksto, žiniasklaidos priemonės ir auditoriją sudarančių socialinių grupių. Temos aktualumą apibrėžia poreikis paaiškinti, kaip keičiasi tradicinė galios ir atsakomybės pusiausvyra tarp žiniasklaidos ir auditorijos.Šis straipsnis pristato tyrimą apie auditorijos galimybes dalyvauti kuriant ir skleidžiant žiniasklaidos turinį Lietuvoje – interneto žiniasklaidos portaluose, turinčiuose didžiausias auditorijas – Delfi.lt, 15min.lt, Lrytas.lt. Interneto portalų struktūros, „Facebook“ socialinio tinklo paskyrų ir mobiliųjų programų analizė parodė, kokios techninės dalyvavimo priemonės yra pateikiamos auditorijai, o interviu su portalų redaktoriais atskleidė institucines praktikas, susijusias su auditorijos įtraukimu bei įsitraukimu į turinio kūrimą.Rezultatai rodo, kad Lietuvos interneto žiniasklaidoje auditorijos galimybės įsitraukti į turinio kūrimą yra ribotos. Dauguma prieinamų dalyvavimo priemonių atspindi auditorijos kaip ištekliaus strategiją, kurioje auditorija teikia informaciją arba sąveikauja su turiniu nuolat kontroliuojamoje aplinkoje.
