This text presents the survey carried out among parents on the issue of speech development in their children raised in the environment of Polish–Swedish bilingualism in Sweden and convictions about the role of a speech-language pathologist in bilingual upbringing. The aim of this study is to fill the gap in speech-language pathology research on the parental perception of bilingualism in their children. Thematic analysis, a method applied in speech-language pathology abroad, was employed to obtain the results. The selected themes and the accompanying notions were characterised by diversity and multi-sidedness, which permits the conclusion on the holistic need to consider the subject of Polish–Swedish bilingualism in children.Keywords: bilingualism – children – opinions – parents – Polish-Swedish bilingualism – speech development – speech-language pathologist.

This article presents a discussion on the results of the research on the staccato phonation conducted as part of the pilot study intended to establish phonation time norms in Polish-speaking adults. The analysed data were excerpted from a selected group of 12 women. Statistical analyses served the purpose of identifying potential differences between the results of tasks concerning the staccato phonation of selected Polish sounds, the staccato phonation and the legato phonation, and determining the correlation between staccato and other language tasks. The interpretation of the results of the research as proposed in the text refers to the observations regarding the task performance method, e.g. differences in the duration of pauses in the language tasks compared to the staccato phonation tasks, diversities related to the sound realisation time and method in the language tasks and in the staccato phonation task.Keywords: Maximum Phonation Time (MPT) – staccato – legato – norm – speech-language pathology.

The subject of this paper is the phenomenon of echolalia occurring in the speech of a patient with neurogenic-psychiatric disorders. The aim of the study was to investigate the echolalic utterances of the research participant after surgery for a tumour of the left cerebral hemisphere in 2011 and subsequent tumour recurrences. A paranoid syndrome the patient was diagnosed with occurred in 1985. The author analysed echolalic behaviour on the basis of a set of 100 echolalic utterances obtained by observing the subject in his close surroundings. The paper includes theoretical aspects of echolalia and its determinants. The discussion of my research results includes, among other things, the specification of the evocative stimuli that trigger echolalia, its functions, and the sources of the evoked content.Keywords: echolalia – delayed echolalia – immediate echolalia – formal thought disorder – schizophasia.

The aim of the study is an assessment of the possibility of semantic categorisation of common names and proper names in a disturbed discourse. The study used a case-experimental approach. The results were analysed qualitatively and quantitatively.The best-preserved semantic relations were indicated and phenomena relating to the quality of access to the mental dictionary were determined. The symptoms of the degradation of the semantic dictionary were indicated. The quantitative assessment included a percentage description of the results obtained. This article discusses the change in the normative qualification of the verb ubrać/ubierać (‘to dress’) in the sense ‘to wear’. This meaning, and hence collocations such as ubrać płaszcz, ubrać sukienkę, ubrać kapelusz have been consistently evaluated as linguistic errors, which is evidenced by both dictionary entries and prescriptive advice. Looking into the scope of usage of this type of expressions – their commonness in speech and writing among Poles of various social classes from southern and western Poland – enforces a consideration of whether this meaning of the verb ubrać/ubierać should not be included into the group of regionalisms accepted as a norm of regional usage. As a sidenote, the emerging question is whether there actually are any normatively unaccepted regionalisms or the unacceptance should be ascribed only to dialecticisms in general language.Keywords: regionalism – linguistic correctness – linguistic advice – normativity.

This article regards written autobiographical narratives of people who stutter. The collected material was analysed using both the quantitative and the qualitative method. The aim of the research was to determine whether the issue of stuttering is touched upon in autobiographical narratives of people who stutter. If so, what portion of the narrative is dedicated to the theme of non-fluency of speech. The conducted analyses permitted the verification of the hypotheses posed. It was concluded that the ones including the theme of stuttering were predominant among the narratives collected. Stuttering is present both as a separate thread and as part of other thematic threads. Threads where the issue of non-fluency of speech was taken up most frequently can be distinguished in the analysed narratives.Keywords: stuttering – autobiographical narratives – autobiography – written statement – non-fluency of speech – thematic analysis.

Jakub Parkosz, also known as Parkoszowic, is the author of the first proposal of Polish spelling. In order to account for all the phonemes of Polish, some new letters were proposed. As his proposal was not widely accepted, the letters have not become available with the standard fonts, which makes it difficult to quote and discuss the proposal. The subject matter of this article is the axiological analysis of 694 names of streets in Wawer (a Warsaw district since 1951). Its aim was to answer the question which values are preserved by the Wawer urbanonyms. The research leads to the conclusion that the described collection is not an anthropocentric one: it is primarily names related to the natural environment and space that prevail there. Onyms commemorating individual or collective heroes are a scarcity here, as are the names connoting the broadly defined culture, economy, and social life. Due to the specific conditions in which the Wawer urbanonymy was created, its nature is unique on the national scale: as many as 171 street names are ones recorded only in Wawer.Keywords: urbanonymy – Wawer – street names – axiology – urban nomenclature.Tr
