Based on a brief review of three important perspectives for a critical approach to so-called "neo-liberalism”, the study identifies a common vacancy in its characterization as a post-hegemonic capitalism; as a specific rationality; or as an hegemonic articulation. Despite their differences, these analyses are based on the detection of a single feature of the neoliberal social formation - the logic of Capital; Power or political articulations – and find extremely difficult to conceptualize Its inscription in the overdetermined complexity of the historical totality. Based on this reading, a revision of the Theory of Social Reproduction formulated by Louis Althusser towards the end of the 1960s is proposed, focusing on the question of the complex of relationships, tendencies and tensions that confer its contradictory consistency and heterogeneous historicity to a social formation. This allows the intellection of long-lasting structural processes, but through the essential detours of the concrete aspects in which these tendencies exist and without which their economic determinations become abstract: on the one hand, the ideological situation, understood as the complex of devices, discursive formations, practices and interpellation forms that give concrete existence and at the same time modulate the duration/transformation of a given order of relations; on the other hand, the processes of political subjectivation of its contradictions, in its overdetermined contingency. This approach allows us to characterize neo-liberalism as a conjunctural process, unstable but determined, and –finally- to sketch out some general conjectures in order to understand in a complex way the concrete circumstances of the Argentinean neoliberal situation in recent years.

This article intends to analyze the main outlines of the developments proposed by Michel Foucault about liberalism and neoliberalism in terms of an archeo-genealogy of the forms of contemporary government and of the history of governmentality, which will enable him to argue that liberalism and neoliberalism constitute the extreme ontologico-political forms of contemporary governmentality. Therefore, this article aims at giving an overview of the categories and tools elaborated and suggested by Foucault about these problems and underlying the potentiality of these contributions for the diagnosis work and the interaction with our present, assessing, at the same time, certain “limits” to this analysis.

Old age constitutes a stage in human development that is less systematically studied by philosophy. Recently, in the last few years, a greater number of works has appeared about old age, most likely due to new ethical, social, economic and political challenges that bring about accelerated aging in the world’s population. Why hasn’t old age had greater prominence in philosophy’s history? Throughout this work, I will show that the marginality should not be attributed exclusively to neglect from the discipline’s proponents; rather that it seems founded in the phenomenon’s own nature. As we shall see, if it is true that old age can be expressed in different human and non-human species, it has a particularly exhausting impact due to our temporal and spatial consciousness. Starting with a philosophical reflection on aging, the work attempts to contribute to the productive and historical relation between philosophy and medicine.

The femme fatale has been studied as a figure in art used by men artists to stigmatize and subjugate all women who rebelled against statu quo throughout history. However, femme fatale has also been used to point out the weaknesses, hypocrisies, decandence and authoritarism of the patriarchal system where it is set. This paper aims to explore the character’s ambivalent function, by contrasting three novels in which the femme fatale becomes the axis of conflict in the plot, and the proposals to resignify its meaning by film adaptations. These are hispanic novels published in the last third of the twentieth century: Captain Pantoja and the Special Service by Mario Vargas Llosa, Sultry Moon by Mempo Giardinelli and The Ages of Lulu by Almudena Grandes; and their respective adaptations directed by Francisco Lombardi, Roberto Denis and Bigas Luna. This comparison focuses in the analysis of the topos of a poweful sexuality that leads to ruin. In order to study this figure, the paper proposes a conceptualization of the topos that allows to visualize its rhetorical function and its capability to adapt and resignify itself in every discourse. This proposal seeks not only to highlight the ambivalence and transgressive potential of the femme fatale, but also to pormote the rhetorical analysis in the study of topoi and thematized characters in literary tradition.

This research examines the theme of the circus in two important short stories of Peruviam literature: El vuelo de los condores and Fenix, which belong to Postmodernism and Neorealism respectively. Through the comparative method, three topics in common will be analysed, such as the circus’s labor problems, main circus characters and the social value of the circus in these two classic tales of Peruvian literature. The results of this analysis will help us understand the poetics of both writes, Abraham Valdelomar and Julio Ramon Ribeyro. KEYWORDS: Peruvian short story – Peruvian Postmodernism – Peruvian Neorealism – Comparative literature - Circus
